Moved to Tivo from Windows Media Center

I got fed up with paying rental fees to Comcast years ago so I set up a HDHomerun Prime with Cablecard and used my HTPC and Xbox 360 as DVR/cable boxes for a few years. In 2015 Microsoft announced they wouldn't be including WMC in Windows 10, and after that it seemed to be a lot more buggy. I decided that if I was going to be paying a service fee for cable, I'd rather pay Tivo than pay Comcast, so I decided to give the Bolt a try. I'm VERY happy with my decision. The Bolt is fast, and user friendly (which my wife appreciates since she never got the hang of the HTPC). The RF remote works very well, and programmed easily to my TV and receiver. I set up a Tivo Mini the bedroom and connected through MOCA. Now we get the same user experience in both rooms without any additional subscription/rental fees. The Bolt contains all of the apps I use regularly, plus I can access Xfinity On-Demand which I was never able to do through WMC. I still have my Apple TV plugged in, but I don't think I've used it once since I got the Bolt over a month ago. If I were renting boxes from Comcast I would be paying close to 40 bucks a month for the same features, plus I would need to switch to a different device to stream apps. Very happy with my purchase and my experience with Tivo as a whole thus far.

I was a Tivo user many years ago with DirecTv and the menu hasn't changed all the much with the exception of the added streaming features. Better than most other DVR's that I've used and additional boxes are ez-breezy to add. I have no idea why it's bent like it is and it only comes in white which is a rather odd color for equipment. Minor issues though as it works great.

I have been using a Tivo since the earliest models. I absolutely LOVE the Bolt, it's super easy to use and the "skip" feature is something I didn't think I would care about until I started using it. Well done, Tivo!!

Never owned a Tivo before but have had cable and Satelite DVRs before and none of them can compare to the bolt. It's easy to setup and super easy to find the shows you want to record not to mention how many shows you can record at one time. Plus it has streaming video apps built right in so Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and You Tube are all integrated in ready to watch. Cost of Tivo service is about equal to DVR rental from cable or satelite plus you can use over the air antenna and internet only if you want.

My previous box had two tuners, often resulting in scheduling conflicts. This one has four. No conflicts so far. The Skip Mode is fantastic for the shows that have it. One click and you're back. My understanding is that TiVo employees watch the show and decide where the commercials are, so not everything can be skipped. QuickMode is also useful to catch up on talking heads and some sporting events. I took a away a star for two reasons. The response time is slow switching tuners and I do not like the curvy design. Maybe it's OCD, but it looks misaligned. The first year of service is included in the price. I bought a unit as soon as they were available, but it would not boot. Fortunately, I got it from Best Buy where I exchanged it without hassle. Now I am clam-city.

Getting Comcast to setup cable card was a bit of a challenge but once they got it right picture and features are great. I upgraded from a Premier model and I feel the tuner is putting out a much clearer picture and colors seem brighter. The box is quick and snappy and the streaming services work great.

We have had the new Tivo installed for about a month now. Very satisfied. It provides 4k content when available, and the Skip feature is a real advantage. No trouble in the installation process except that Comcast had an inventory problem with the required cards so had to make two trips to get those.

Purchased Tivo Bolt to replace an aging Tivo series 3. Love the New format and is a lot faster. 4 program recording is a win...Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the 500GB Harddrive capacity

I really like the DVR. It was easy to set up and use with HD antenna. It is also easy to find streaming shows. The one downside is you need to chose between purchasing service all upfront it at $15 per month. Since the whole point was to stop with service fees, we opted to purchase.

TiVo has always had the best user interface of any DVR, and the Bolt is no exception. The new commercial skip feature (alas, only available on some channels) is terrific. My only complaint is that the top is not flat, so nothing else can be put on it.

Contemplating "cord cutting", using as OTA DVR with Clearstream antenna. Once I find streaming services to obtain channels we view will return & cancel TWC cable and go internet only. Wish TiVo offered HBO Now not just HBO GO. Subscription service a little pricey.

We wanted to save some money, so paying for the unit up front and then subscribing to what we wanted made much more economical sense that paying a higher "cable company" fee for our shows/movies. Plus, we can record local channels and skip all the commercials.

Talked with sales man Brent at tulsa 71/169 store and he is a cord cutter himself and has the same system ( tivo plus mini), so a trusted him and cut the cord, and boy am I glad I did, it has saved my family $117 a month and I feel we are getting more quality programming now than with cable. we got the lifetime service so all we pay is $99 a year to prime and I watch any thing i want for free. If it is a series that is not free it is normally 19.99 on average for 12-15 shows so that's about $1.25-1.57 per show so may monthly cost to watch tv is ($99 for prime per yr) $8.25 a month plus + 4 (series like ax men) $1.57 x 4 = $6.28 and they air weekly so that would be times 4 weeks = $25.12 so $8.25 (prime)+ $25.12(series)= 33.37 a month to watch more programming than I was paying for cable. I have had the system for a month and a half and I love it we watch 5 hrs of tv a day and I could not go back to cable after this. I have had "o" problems and just love the user friendliness of the system

    Cord Cutting* DVR

This was purchased to be our DVR and channel guide for our cord cutting adventure. Although technically not cord cutting (TiVO has a monthly fee after the first year), the Bolt is an amazing device with an familiar guide and recording interface (similar to our DirecTV). Where this device impressed me most was its 'One Pass' system. This allows you to search for any show across OTA, Hulu, HBO Go, etc. and it will find it, and put it in your 'My Shows'. This seamlessly integrates all your 'recordings' (streaming or actually recorded) into one place. Perfect! I also used the Bolt to set up a MoCA network in the home to stream to the TiVO Mini I have in another room. It was relatively simple and works great!

Good TiVo for 4K TV,s . The only thing I wish it had is a bigger hard drive. If you want to get the most out of your 4K TiVo. This unit is for you. One thing I like is netflixs and watching movies in 4K.

    A cable cutting option

I purchased this to cut the cable with the satellite dish company. I called them and canceled a few weeks back. they reminded me that I had been their customer for 20 years and didn't want to lose me. After the First year Tivo will be $13, Netflix $8, Hulu $9. But that beats the $90 I was giving the cable guys. We can't get the HGTV shows that we used to enjoy (I wish TIVO would link up with SlingTV). But we have found others on Hulu and TIVO and OTA that make up for it. Overall pretty satisfied. and we are hoping it will get better over time with new internet providers getting plugged into TIvo over time.

Great set-top box. Online services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) integrate perfectly with recorded shows. Love the commercial skip and fast mode viewing options. The only downside is you lose Video-On-Demand and Pay-Per-View and that $15/mo fee but otherwise the Bolt is cheaper, faster, has more features than renting from you cable company and you get to keep the box.
