We got rid of our cable and switched to using Antenna only. The TiVo Bolt does the same thing the cable DVR did for a lot less. You can record shows as well as connect to Netflix, Hulu, etc.

The Bolt is okay but really, there isn't much difference from the Romaio. 4K support is nice but the menus and everything are 1080p. Streaming YouTube isn't as smooth as my other devices and seems to have a lot of lag. The shows stop and wait for the program to continue loading. I have the fastest internet possible and my Apple TV can stream without issues. I do not like the new design. It looks ridiculous. Keep you old TiVo or same money and get an older Roamio.

This is the best DVR I have ever owned. Lightning fast and a great user interface. Unfortunately it has ussues. After a recent update it has to be restarted due to HDCP issues (the hdmi handshake) I have tivos that are 10 years older that don't have this problem. Restart fixes the problem. Restart fixes the Cox VOD problem as well. I figure I will restart thus box 1000 times in the coming year. Unacceptable!!

This is my lirst Tivo and will not be the last. It is easy to learn and program. I hooked it up via Ethernet and can set the recorder using my ipad from another room. in addition i can watch programs previously recorded on the ipad. I can download programs (some) to the ipad to watch on the road. I am hoping that the software will be upgraded soon to allow me to watch my recorded programs on the road without having to download in advance.

I bought this to use with twc. Although I have some issues with twc cards, the TiVo itself is awesome. Much better then the TiVo I had in college...about 8 years ago. This one skips all commercials which is neat and does 4K but there's nothing really 4K yet. I do recommend picking up a 2tb laptop hdd and tossing it into the unit. If you're handy at all it's easy and is just a direct swap. So don't waste money on the 1tb version.

I've had TiVos since the first ten-hour unit hit the market in the late 90s. Bolt is the best one yet. QuickPlay lets me catch up on news programs in less time than normal, and the integration with Internet-based services brings it closer to the promise of one box for all content needs.
The major stumbling block is, as it has always been, getting the cable card from one's TV service, but that's not a flaw of the Bolt itself.

We returned our DVR from the cable company, installed TiVo- needed some tech help from TiVo and the cable company to set up properly (but they were very knowledgable and it was easy). TiVo Bolt is awesome, very easy to use, easier access to Netflix, HBO, etc. Getting ready to finally cut the cable once we tape some of the shows we want...

We've had 3 different Tivo devices over the years, and this is by FAR the best upgrade! It's much faster and more responsive to your button pushes, and the SkipMode is FANTASTIC! Just one press and you can skip an entire commercial break in a flash. No more playing "fast forward roulette" to try stopping at the exact point where you will miss the commercials but not the show you're watching. Love it!

I have been a TIVO owner for 15 years. The Bolt raises the bar for bells and whistles. The quality of HD and features like Skip Mode, Quick Mode, Easy Search have taken my TV experience to a new level.
NOW-The hook up was not as easy as I thought and found that there were limited stations that have the skip feature. All and all I would recommended this system to anyone. Beats the cable box by a long shot

If you have a 4K tv, this is the DVR you need. The picture quality is superior to the DVR boxes you rent from Time Warner. The only drawback I have with the TiVo is that I could not use a HDMI switch with it. When connected to my HDMI switch, the TiVo would not receive a signal. Overall I am happy with my purchase. The TiVo has some really cool features and I would recommend it to anyone.

We dropped direct tv and use our HD antenna on top of our house hooked up to three tvs...the TiVo is a bonus as we can record up to four shows at a time. We have Netflix and Amazon prime and TiVo works with everything and TiVo first year is free. We have saved a bundle and don't miss direct tv at all...
We may buy extender later but for now the TiVo in our main tv room is great...menu is easy to follow and was easy to hook up to our tv.

Provides me with a control box to perform the same function as any cable box without cable or direct tv. Performs same function as any DVR. Wanted a box to manage, control, and record my over the air TV programing. I kicked cable and satellite TV out of my house and so much better for it with antenna and TiVo Bolt!

The new TiVo - Bolt 500GB is a significant improvement from the previous version. The instructions for installation were reasonable but we still have to get help from their technical service and found them very helpful. I recommend this product.

This replaces a Comcast DVR with second outlet at $30 / month. The first year cost is about the same with 50% savings after that. The overall quality is excellent, but it only gets 4 stars because of some weaknesses in the user interface.
1. No quick way to delete a recording if you watch a few minutes and decide you don't like it.
2. 'Back' does not switch between Live TV and Recordings.
3. Quick Play only has one speed, should have an intermediate speed.
4. 'Back' does not go from 'Tivo' to recording.
5. Would like to globally turn off all the secondary sources for content unless I explicitly ask for it.
6. Sometimes does not find free content on 'On Demand' while finding paid content on Hulu, etc.
7. Tivo app does not work outside of the local network.
8. Commercial skip unevenly applied to late night shows.

This was my first tivo device so I didn't really know what to expect. It does exactly what it says however it lost a star because the user interface is not exactly the most friendly and be quite confusing. It lost another half star when I found out that on demand channels through twc wouldn't work. And it lost another half star because I'm still waiting on the software update that would allow out of home streaming capabilities (the largest selling point for me). However, it's definitely better than the dvr that would come through twc, which is why I've decided to keep it.

Initial TW tuning adapter was defective. Once all the TW equipment was working, the Tivo Bolt has been great. It is fast and responsive. Have added a Tivo Mini in another room pulling content from this Tivo Bolt with no problems or performance issues. Switched the Tivo from RF to IR remote mode and successfully doing most activities with a Harmony 350.

Finally got fed up with $100+ satellite bill and this box connected to a small antenna on my roof (used existing directv coax) works wonders, the commercial skip feature is great the 30% faster feature can me tough to watch on certain programs, but all in all worth the money!
