Mini Vox big help with the cable bill

I have a Tivo Bolt and two Mini vox players. This eliminates 3 cable boxes and the rent that goes with them. One cable card allows me to stream tv from the Bolt's 3 of 4 tuners and still record on the 4th. Can be connected to the network with either Cat 5 or the cable system already installed in the house. Very happy with my purchase. Was easy for me to set up.

Paired this with an OTA TiVo Vox. Please be aware that this mini box does not have WiFi so it must be hard wired to your router. It states that both boxes must be connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, but my main box is connected to WiFi and the mini box performs flawlessly. Although this is likely dependent on the performance of your router and the speed of your internet service provider.

I replaced an old Tivo Mini with this new Mini VOX. It is working with my main Tivo Roamio just fine. Took a day or so for the registration transaction to go through but after that setup was easy. I had to downgrade it to work with my Roamio but that downgrade did not wipe out anything on my Roamio.

I love the fact that I can now watch my recordings in my bedroom as well as living room. However, I was unaware that I would need to spend more money on bridges to get it to work. The MOCA was more difficult than I expected. Thankfully I was able to run an Ethernet cable to a range extender I had and it appears to be working fine that way instead of creating a MOCA.

I would recommend this if you want to stream your tv shows and have everything in a library. It has plenty of room and setup was pretty simple for me. II must say that I am pretty good at computer setting up my whole media. If you are not great with electronics, I would get some help, but I most of the people I know have some electronic knowledge.

Tivo equipment is never easy to setup. Sorry, but it's true. If you want to use Tivo hardware, be ready for a learning curve. And you had best have somebody on hand who is familiar with the way these have to be setup. The included setup guides are pretty much worthless. I now have 3 mini's and a Bolt master DVR running. The mini's need an ethernet connection to your home wifi router as well as a cable TV line connection. If you can't run ethernet lines, you can use Powerline Ethernet devices to get an ethernet connection via your homes AC electrical wiring. The alternate method is to have a BoCa adaptor which we tried but they (tried two of them) failed to work on our cable system.

If you’re getting this to save from paying money and renting your Cox, Fios, etc boxes, take my advice and get the warranty. I’ve had to replace a few and had I paid for the warranty, I would’ve still been ahead of the game and saved money as compared to renting boxes. TiVo is great but it’s still technology and technology does have a tendency to fail or have bugs. So be smart and get the warranty. The upside to this is that you get to replace a dead box with an updated model, if and when you need to exercise your warranty.

I have my TIVO BOLT connected to my cable provider and several Mini Vox boxes connected to TV's in different parts ot the house. Most are hard wired (Ethernet) with one wireless. They all work well with little or no difference between the direct connected BOLT and the Mini's. I am VERY happy with the setup!

We purchased this to access TiVo and cable channels for our second bedroom. It works fairly well. The set up was difficult because our existing TiVo was a bit old but TiVo support helped us resolve the version problem between the two devices. We have high speed wired data connection for every room, and I believe that's a requirement.

Overall, it's a good product, thought the lack of wi-fi is a deal breaker for 99% of people. I happen to have ethernet running in all rooms so it wasn't a problem. But Tivo announced they would have apps for Apple TV, Roku, etc at CES 2019, making this product essentially obsolete. So I wouldn't buy one unless you need it today.

I have the Tivo Bolt+ on the primary TV and love the whole Tivo experience. I recently needed to replace the bedroom Tivo and opted to use the Tivo Mini instead of another full Tivo. The experience has been great! Easy to setup, and easy to use! And now I only have 1 set of recordings to manage - great device for the 2nd TV.

I've been using TiVo devices since they first came on the market in the early 1990s. TiVo continues to be the best and most intuitive DVR in the business. This TiVo Mini Vox enables you to extend the reach of your cable box without the need for cables. I have several around the house and they work great!

This latest TiVo mini is hands down the best TiVo mini I’ve ever used. It has the best processor, connects easily and is very snappy and responsive to remote control commands. Be sure your personal network is at minimum gigabit speeds, set each of your TiVo units to a static IP and you will never have any problems. Why pay the cable company $10 or more each month on each additional tv for an lackluster experience. Get yourself setup with the TiVo solution and save yourself time and money, and get the best user interface around! Watch your programming on the go, and set recordings up through the TiVo app. This is my 3rd TiVo mini Vox connected to my TiVo Roamio. I’m saving $45 a month by using my own equipment, that’s at today’s prices; I won’t be affected if the cable company decides to raise equipment fees, I love my TiVo!

Great box to use to save $ over renting the boxes from the cable company co. You need to have a Tivo vox as the main box in the house. This one is a sub that connects to the main box wireless or wired to share content. Sounds tricky but it saves you dollars in the end. New ones are voice controlled as well.

TiVo Mini is a small device which extends your in-home TiVo DVR experience. You need to have a TiVo Bolt or Roamio DVR already in your home to use the TiVo Mini. Easy to connect to the DVR and lets you view Live TV and recorded programs. Great User Interface, commercial skip, pause, rewind, etc.

We recently returned all of the leased equipment to Spectrum and bought the TiVo Bolt and Mini as replacements. What we did not expect was how much better the TiVo is! It is superior in all regards. My only regret is that I waited so long, and paid Spectrum so much, for inferior leased equipment. Never again!

I purchased the TiVo recorder for my man cave and this TiVo Mini VOX for my wife’s room. It works great and she can watch everything that’s available on the TiVo Recorder in my room. I do think that the price should be less than it is but love it just the same.

Our cable company does not offer a DVR service other then TiVo so this was the path we had to take. 1st, the fees are crazy to use this service and 2nd, it lacks the tools you would expect from using other DVR services. Does it record, yes it does. It takes it from either streaming or your cable service. Although it has chosen to take from streaming vs cable on a number of times and guess what, you end up having to pay prime or vudu for the movie you thought you were recording off the cable station. It covers the basics but really it is expensive and inconsistent.
