Classic War Movie Adventure and Suspense add to your Collection

Being a newbie to Audy Murphy movies, this was great. There were a couple moments for a giggle even though it was a war picture. Tastefully done and not just to blow his own horn.

Fantastic biography of one of the most decorated soldier of WW2. Audie was not just a cowboy gunslinger we know in his later films. A true american hero. Belongs in everyones wartime collection. A friend of mine recently passed at 92. He joined the navy at 17. He will be missed.

It's great seeing this young man and sorry he had to die so young.

I fondly remember seeing this movie about and starring decorated WWII Army hero, Audie Murphy. Many years later I still found the story told on film about him worthy of his heroism. It is not a great film, and I am certain the storyline was enhanced, even in 1955: however, it was satisfying to revisit a film I was deeply impressed with in 1955 when I was 12 years old.

The only reason I did not give this movie a 5 star rating is because of todays special effects. Audie Murphy only gave in to allowing this movie to be made of his WWII service record if he could control what was portrayed. He completely downplayed this, as was his humble custom. What he did, according to the men who served with him, was only touched upon as to his bravery under fire and love for this country! If only we had a few more like him today! Specially within our present government! This is not a movie about special effects, nor acting, nor romance. Although he "watered down" the his part in these historic events, the movie still shows his true heart and selfless sacrifice for his men's lives, and his country's freedom. Its Just a plain, honest, and sometimes humorous and tragic, look at one of our nations greatest heroes of all time!
