Fun but shallow

If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced, mindless action RPG, Too Human is for you. If you're looking for something with depth that will enthrall you for dozens of hours . . . look elsewhere.
Too Human offers an interesting take on Norse mythology, creating a sci-fi setting with fantasy trappings. You play the role of an asgardian 'god' fighting his way through waves of robotic enemies.
The controls are a little tricky at first, and take some getting used to, but once you adjust to how they work it can make for some fluid and satisfying gameplay. If you don't ever 'get' the controls though, it will be extremely frustrating.
The game offers plenty of excitement in short bursts, but suffers for a lack of content. There are very few enemy types in the game, so you're going to see the same thing over and over. Much of the time the game is incredibly easy, except for the times where it's incredibly hard. Death just resets your position to the last checkpoint though, so you can bash your way through any obstacle eventually, no matter how much you die.
The other issue is that the game is quite short, and while you can replay it endlessly with up to five different character classes, it doesn't take long to get monotonous.
Despite that, it's a fun ride while it lasts, and if you go into it understanding you're not likely to get more than 10-20 hours of gameplay out of it you can enjoy the time you have, and finish the game hoping the sequel gets made and shows up soon.

This game will bw a truly magnifacent addition to any gamers collection and should add many hours of gameplay to their rep. it uses a unique combo of norse mythology, futuristic landscapes/enemies and costamizable armor and weapons that should keep the played hungry for more. The game has five playable class: Berserker, Defender, Champion, Commando, and Bioenginer all with unique styles and customizations.
The game uses a skill tree method to further you charecters strengths and abilitys which should and to is many replay values. It will offer much fun and should delight many.
" I have played through the demo with every class multiple times through the same mission and i have still found new and exciting things through out the whole tme. it is a game that i highly reccomend for every gamer."

Buy it After a Price Drop

The Good:
Controls are easy to figure out
The storyline is interesting
Weapons, armor, and skills are all customizable
5 classes to choose from (rumors of more for download)
Rumors of 4 player co-op online
More equipment from download-able content (according to creator) eventually
The Bad:
Full of glitches (may interfere in achievements)
Difficulty ranges from boringly easy and stupidly hard depending on your equipment, what level your playing, your class, if your playing the storyline or extra/online
There's only 4 different levels in the game and you'll have to do them all repeatedly to level up, also the "Elite" items will take more time to locate than beating the storyline.
This is game 1 of 3 so you'll have to buy the next 2 to actually complete the story

Great game for RPG fans

When i first heard about this game, i was ecstatic. i heard it was a WoW for the xbox. minus the online play of course. And even though there are many terrible ratings below mine, i believe this game was GREAT. i am a huge fan of any RPG, like WoW, fable 2, and the elder scrolls oblivion and i was not disappointed with this game at all. it was fairly easy to level up to 50 and i had to max level characters in 3-4 days. The weapons are great and the guns add an interesting kick to the usual sword fights. the bosses are hard, but not impossible, and the replay value is very high. you must beat the game multiple times to reach level 50. All in all, great RPG

Major dissapointment...

Ahhh.....what a dissapointment. For a game that comes from an awesome developer and has been in the works for years, Too Human falls extremely short. This is coming from a guy who loves RPGs. While it mixes things up with the non button-mashing combat system, which takes some getting used to, said combat is completely and utterly ruined by the camera. It's erratic and almost immpossible to hit the guy you're actually going for. The story does have a unique perspective and setting. And the characters look sweet. The combination of gun and sword makes for some interesting battles, and the custimization for them is awesome. For people who love loot-hunting and levelling, you'll like this game. But most will not find it worthwhile.

Repetition finds Xbox Live

Purchase this game if you like hack and slash button mashers. That, aside from a ton of custimization, is all this game offers. Repetition, not at its worst, but close. I can say this game was fun, for a free demo, but shooting a gun, with basically no accuracy or target lock, is not that fun. this game should have stayed on the original xbox, where it was designed for. Customizing a character in a game that is pretty bad is not all that fun. Think World of Warcraft but worse. Enjoy wasting $60 on this. It is not horrible, but it is mediocre in a list of amazing games out and coming soon. Your money can be spent else where, with much better investment

Unobtained Potential

I expected a lot from Too Human. A game supposedly 10 years in the making and made out to be this Golden Child of next-gen gaming. It had the potential, but fell short.
Now don't get me wrong, this game was fun, but was implemented poorly in so many ways. The story moves slow and jilted, and tries to throw in emotion to pull you in but never gets it to stick. Even the cut scenes are evident of this failed potential. Sound is poorly used, failing to capture the grandeur or feel of this sci-fi Norse epic. On the note of sound, however, the music was well done in this game. Probably the one thing that was spot on and pulled it in for me. There are glitches galore, and it makes me think they had just an awful QA team. I mean, these are very noticeable and very frequent. I've often found myself jumping in the air and getting stuck on a large or floating enemy, unable to move except spin in mid-jump. All I can do is wait slowly while the enemies pick me off. Or in the third level of the game, where certain sound bites aren't supposed to play until after a certain plot point is revealed, but there they are, playing when they shouldn't be. And the AI of your teammates is awful. At one point, you get another God to fight alongside you, but they're little different from the regular humans. The only difference is that they don't die, but they're just as useless in taking out hordes of enemies with you.
Status effects are incredibly unbalanced. You could get poisoned, be at full health, and still die. Your only chance of surviving is rolling around to avoid damage, which may or may not be a glitch as well. Even more annoying is that Baldur has to groan in pain every split second you take damage.
The story doesn't get good until the end and suffers from bad writing and sometimes bad voice acting. Steven Blum, a staple in the VO community, is used to death in this game. He had to voice at least half of all the minor characters. The bad thing is that its easy to tell.
Customization is fun, having a very WoW/Diablo feel to the importance of loot gathering. Unfortunately, like Diablo, most bosses in the game are beat simply by pounding on them until they're dead. No strategy. In one level, you fight in a large circular room with the boss and an incinerator circles around activating in certain sections. Lead the boss here? Nope. You don't even take damage. It's just for show and a bad show at that. The graphics are sub-par for a next-gen game.
This game is supposed to be a trilogy and I hope it doesn't go the way of Xenosaga, a five-part game that cut down to three because the first two were just awful. If this game didn't have all the hype and was only recently developed, I'd give it a 4. But the fact that its been in the works for nearly 10 years and still suffers from bad prose has no excuse for its defense. I give it a three. A definite rental for a slow weekend. I'd say to purchase it only if future titles are released and are better, just to complete the set.

Don't read the critic reviews

I have been keeping up with this game for a few years now. It's been changing consoles for 10 years now. Right now it's the cool game to hate, so critics and fans who haven't even played the game dislike it. After playing the demo once I thought "meh it's ok, the camera is way to frustrating" But then I found myself wanting to play it again for the armor and weapons. The gameplay also reminded of Phantasy Star Online. I bought it first day of purchase and enjoyed it. Beat it in 9 hours though... so don't expect this to be a 30 hour rpg... but it does have plenty of replay value. If you're still nervous about this game, rent it. You won't be able to stop playing and will want to buy this game.

I went to get this game when it came out, but was talked out of buying it. Yeah, I read the reviews in some gaming magazines, but I loved the demo. I was going to wait and get this game when it was cheaper, but I could not wait any longer after playing the demo for a second time.
This is one of the greater games I have played in a long time. Kinda has that "Gears of War" feel, but it is not as good as that game.
Too Human is a great game if you are into RPG type of gaming. You have a variety of customizable weapons, armor, etc. that make this game pretty addicting.
Bottom line.....GO OUT AND GET IT!!

One of the years worst

I was one of the first ones to reserve this game I had extremely high hopes, the premise and the description of the game sounded awesome, unfortunately the game is anything but. The controls are awkward and might have even worked, if the camera ever focused on you or the enemies, plus speaking about the camera angle, there were many times I died because I couldnt see where I was going or I couldnt see the enemies I was fighting, even some of the main bosses dont even stay on screen. A very poorly made game that had so much potential. Dont even rent it.

I give this five stars because I think that all the different options and ways to do things just overwelms the right analog stick based combat. I'm a fan of rpg and costimizing my characters like in cod4 were you can pick your weapons and other things such as camo, but im also a fan of the new rainbowsix vegas 2 were not only can you pick your weapons but you can costimize you appearance. I can't wait to get this and I hope you decide to look into this more and buy it.

If you like role-playing games, your in for a treat. Probably one of the most underrated games this year(Only a 5.5 out of 10 rating from GameSpot review). Download the Demo, for free, before you buy to get a taste if you like it or not.

It is kinda like god of war mixed with world of warcraft in the future. it looks like a really cool game with lots of features. This is one of the only RPGs that i cant wait for. i played the demo and i already love it. i highly recommend this game to people who like RPGs and 3rd person action games.

Too Disappointing

The first impression I had of this game was a huge "WOW"! The game is cool looking, but the problem is that the look doesn't evolve through the game, and the battles and monsters change VERY LITTLE. It feels a lot like doing level 1 over and over and over. Very repetitive and boring gameplay after the first hour's rush wears off.

Too Human I believe will have an intense story line with great cutscenes and the battle specs one could hope for.
Sadly the game is only solo or co-op with one other. Not the 4 person co-op like this site says...
