Best album of the year.been waitin on jadakiss for while.

Six years ago in a rap game that was just starting to usher in the new guard, Jadakiss (Jason Phillips) of Yonkers, NY, The LOX and D-Block released his third studio album, The Last Kiss. It might very well be his last kiss, but it surely wasn’t the last of Jadakiss, who is still a sought after feature in hip-hop after twenty plus years in the industry. Top 5 Dead or Alive, his fourth LP, comes out today (Friday, Nov. 20), and while it may not make a bulletproof case for putting him in the top five rappers of all time, it does continue his solid solo discography, which started back in 2001 with Kiss Tha Game Goodbye followed by Kiss of Death in 2004. This Top 5 album boasts Jadakiss as he has always been, raspy, lyrical and gangsta, and it’s got a rugged feel and many great guests. Fans have been served all of this before in the same format, but it is Jada’s plentiful new rhymes that will have them flocking back. He starts by bragging and flagrantly calling himself “top 5 dead or alive” in “First 48” and follows it up with a skit in which a man talks down the importance of “bars” in today's hip-hop ("Shop Talk"). Clearly, Jadakiss's intent is to debunk the sentiment with his own hardcore bars, and he is mostly successful to that end. Top 5 is very familiar and typical for Jadakiss overall though. He sticks to the street code, rues childhood criminals, takes one trip to the strip club and generally just keeps it hood for the full hour. His "don't shoot, can't breathe" statement in "Jason" adequately connects him to the Black Lives Matter movement, and his messages of courage, confidence and commitment elsewhere are needed to supplement the many prominent hustler-sections. It all ends with "One More Mile To Go," a standard empowerment song and a good enough way to end the album. You have to hand it to Jadakiss for continuing to stir up excitement with his recognizable style and voice, even if he doesn't have a ton of different angles technically speaking. His companions on this Def Jam sponsored LP are mostly old friends except for Future, Wiz Khalifa, Nipsey Hussle and his new protégé Young Adz so Top 5 is authentic indeed. The production is both of Jada's era and equipped with arsenals of drill so the music benefits from that update though a few parts are quite hectic and discordant (the harsh cluttered beat of "You Can See" and the buzzy shrieking one on "Man in the Mirror"). A heavy title to live up to, Top 5 Dead or Alive does save itself from embarrassment thankfully. Nothing is terribly flawed or weak, and it does have what big Jadakiss fans love most about him, his gruff, guttural unhurried style and plenty of his nonstop ruthless rhymes

The title says it all. Jadakiss is a top 5 rapper, dead or alive. Buy this album and support your favorite rapper's favorite rapper! While you're at it, buy the Styles P album too! No matter how I rank my personal top 5 favorite rappers, Jadakiss and Styles P are always in there.

Let me start this review by stating I'm a huge Jadakiss fan. I was really excited about his new release Top five dead or alive. If you're going to title your album with that lofty of a statement you better come with it. And unfortunately he did not. He's made extremely great albums before and this one is not. I do like the songs, "Synergy", "Aint Nothing New", and "Baby." The album doesn't flow, the beat choices weren't that good. His albums have always had that personal touch, this one misses on that. I will rock the three songs I like and wait on the next mixtape.

This album is great. It shows a mature side of Jadakiss, includes a diverse set if guess appearances, and the production is solid. Definitely a CD I keep in heavy rotation.

Seems somewhat outdated in terms of production, however his lyrics will always be in the forefront. T5doa is up there as one of the best hip hop albums to drop this week.

The name of the is album is Top 5 Dead Or Alive and the name fits perfect because Jada is one of my top 5 rappers in my real life list. If you haven't heard this album yet you snoozing. Lol

Kiss! t5doa! it's a good album for the hip-hop heads. It's what we needed. Not quite a classic, but it's good, a good ride on the roads as well.

I have always liked Jadakiss's style of rap, and he still rips it on this album. I heard some reviews before buying this album that it was not good, but it wasn't a disappointment to me.

This is one of his best albums to date. I was not disappointed at all even though we had to wait so long for him to release a new album

Jadakiss rapsy rugged style of Hip Hop lyricist is still second to none. I only wish that he can bring the Lox back for a renunion blast from the past. Welcome back Jada!

Jada is that hip hop lyricist that has gotten better over time and this album is an example of why he is top 5..dead or alive..

When I bought the album was not expecting much but the album exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this album.

My husband was in Best Buy purchasing another CD and decided to get this one too. This is a good CD. He really likes it.

I follow this artist very closely, this is his first album in almost 7 years, its a great album and best buy was the best choice, also the bonus song was a bonus!

I bought this CD for my boyfriend and he loves it. This is all he listens to. He has always been a fan of Jadakiss. I would suggest going to buy this cd.

Great music nearly every track is off the hook- bin a while but was making mix tapes. Real good music compared to most of the junk that's out there

I must say Jada is def is the top 5. Classic album from beginning to end!
