Im so glad i picked up Top Gun Maverick on steelbook

This movie is easily a 10/10 for both audio and video. The IMAX scene are amazing; not completely full screen, there are a little bit of black bars even in the IMAX scenes, but it’s still much better than widescreen. The Dolby Atmos track rocks and the colors are amazing and the details are very crisp. This steelbook is worth owning. My only complaint is like the other reviewer stated, poor packaging. Cheap brown envelope with almost 0 padding. Best Buy has gotten cheaper and cheaper with their shipping (I was even charged $6 for this shipping for no explained reason!). This is a known problem all over the blu ray forums and I doubt they will do anything about it. We pay for the shipping for a $35 product and we get crap packaging. If it weren’t for the steelbook, I would’ve bought elsewhere.

Even though its 30 years late, this movie was a very good follow-up to the original. Tom Cruise actually played a character close to his own age. That aside, this is a very good movie to own in 4k for the home theater guys. The sound effects and mixing are topnotch. The atmos was a bit of a letdown due to lack of dynamics and staying fairly static within the height channels. I truly thought that the sound engineer/mixer was going to go wild with this movie. The video quality is excellent. The movie as a whole was very well done. My only complaint is for the actor who played Goose's son. He was stiff and dry at times.

Like any laid back nester whose watch list plates were already full three months ago when the biggest aviator cinema phenomena was terrifically manifested by four worldwide generations of alpha action movie fans as the highest-grossing film of 2022, those young at heart now mostly in their fifties and beyond know it's better late than never to savour every adrenaline rush and thrill at their home theatre reimagined piloting inside the cockpit of a super hornet — Cher would sure want a ride with either or both Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer exclusively in the name of her boyfriendology.

This 4K release is a reference quality treat. Many have complained of the audio on the streaming version of this movie. The 4K disc is a real treat and the video and audio quality are what you would expect for this action movie. The only issue some may have is the format in which the director shot the movie in multiple aspect ratios. If you're viewing this movie on a projector with a 2:40 scope screen, you're going to want to use either screen masking, Lumagen/MadVR aspect ratio detection or an Anamorphic lens. The shifting aspect ratios can drive some crazy.

Only five stars, this movie deserves 6+. This is an extremely outstanding sequel. This movie definitely displays the accurate story telling behind our military. The hard work and dedication from Tom Cruise supporting actors/naval consultants/producers, directors, the entire production team and anyone else involved with this movie is applauded. Watch the first Top Gun then watch Top Gun Maverick and you will also see why it was worth the wait. Outstanding!!! Go get your 4K/Blu-ray and enjoy. You're missing out on a masterpiece.

This is a reference quality disc of a highly enjoyable movie. The IMAX scenes really stand out and the audio packs quite a punch. The story is superb and really fits where one would expect Maverick to be in this stage of his career. There is a lot of emotion in this movie, and it says a lot when my the kids can sit through and enjoy this type of movie that doesn't include some form of CGI character. This is truly a great film, and is a rare feat when the sequel is as good or surpasses the original.

Really good movie. Good sequel story. While it probably helps to have seen the first Top Gun, it isn't necessary as there are some flashbacks. This story stands on its own. The extras were interesting too. The only thing I didn't like was when you insert the disc to play, it shows a bunch of screens in different languages. So I have to fast forward to get to the main menu. I believe this is the stuff that usually appears at the end of a movie.

Top Gun: Maverick is one of the best movies to come out in years. It ties back to the original movie very well. For those with home surround sound systems and big screens, you'll love the picture quality and sound of this movie. Colors are excellent and the Atmos soundtrack is amazing! The sound of the jets makes you feel like you're in the cockpit...or at least an earthquake the way it shakes your house. :D

A sequel done right. Tom Cruise proves again and again that he is one of the best in the business. With practical effects and actually flying in the F-18s, it's immersive as all hell. The writing is simple, yet effective and has me in the feels. I never thought Tom and Val could bring me to tears but they did. And when it comes to the actual action, it really does have you on the edge of your seat

Loved movie,5 star movie hands down!but big bulge in steel case again from Best Buy. They did offer a 5.00 discount for the permanent bulge on front of steelcase. None available to exchange, now if I open it, Will discs still play??? After 15 days theyll do nothing!Sent in corigated cardboard from Bestbuy.com....So I guess i should order two & plan to return one!!! Thanks for allowing me to share

Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, we did not know we needed you again. This film is without a doubt, one of the top 5 of this year. To call it a popcorn summer blockbuster is true but it’s a disservice to a film that rises above super hero films to show us what having inventive filming techniques, a great script and heart can do to elevate it beyond just popcorn summer blockbuster fair.

I really was not expecting to love Top Gun Maverick as much as I did! I highly recommend watching the original one before this one just to give yourself a refresher. It's incredible how Tom Cruise is still killing it in movies all these years later. Go into Top Gun Maverick as blind as you can and enjoy the edge-of-your seat thrills and some fantastic character building! :D

I thought for years and years possible story lines continuing the story of Top Gun and the sequel, Top Gun: Maverick is just a dream come true! Cheer the heroics of the Top Gun pilots. Marvel at the director's technical expertise in the flight sequences. But watch Tom Cruise in the quiet moments of the movie.

Great movie, and an amazing sequel. The artwork is fantastic!! Sometimes steel books have subpar artwork, but this one is amazing. The slip-cover one is awesome too and would recommend it since the slip cover is a bit more expensive. The 4k looks great and the audio sounds amazing especially if you have surround sound!

We went with the Steelbook so we could get both the 4K Bluray and the Bluray (since the regular edition only includes the 4K). Great movie, really enjoyed it. The video and audio quality is top notch. One small complaint is some of the quick panning shots show some artefact on my LG OLED, but overall can't complain.

Stand fast, ya land lubers.....arrrr ....It's an awesome Fighter Jet, I mean Sail Boat, I mean fighter jet movie with sail boats. It was awesome in the theater because I needed to use the bathroom and get more popcorn and what's a better opportunity then a sail boat screen in a fighter jet movie? Now walk the plank.....

If you purchased the digital version a month before the 4k disc was released you’ll be happy to know the sound from the Dolby Atmos soundtrack blows the digital copy away! The digital version video quality is an A the disc is A+ but it’s definitely the sound quality that makes this disc must own for any fan!

Top Gun has always been one of my favorite movies to watch. I was super ecstatic when I heard they were making a 2nd one. Although I was weary of the multiple delays in release, the movie was well worth it. I absolutely love it. I might even go as far as saying it could be better than the first one!

Absolutely outstanding picture and sound. Not only is the Steelbook a great design, but the movie is awesome and this is a really good disc. The IMAX scenes are on the disc (not digital FYI) and those look just as good as they did in theaters. Paramount really put in the work on this one
