I have several WD external hard drives and they are very noisy. But this Toshiba is virtually silent. When it has been dormant, it spins up very quickly and retrieves the information fast.

Easy to set it and forget it. Not a solid-state device, but runs very smoothly.

It's so seldom that a product can be used right out of the box, without some aggravation. This external hard drive is one of those few exceptional products that installs with no problems and operates flawlessly. I plugged the drive in and it was immediately recognized and could be used. There have been no issues with backing up data to this drive. It can't get better than this. Note: I use "Second Copy" software to back-up data. I don't use any software that came with the drive. The drives automatically go into sleep mode when not being used. This really nice feature saves on wear.

The hard drive works fast and it is very easy to use. I like that it's very small fits right under my desk next to my modem and you don't even know it's there. Highly recommend this purchase.

3 TB for $106! Great price vs. capacity comparison. It's USB 3.0 so it's almost as fast as an internal drive. I couldn't pass up the deal as I was in the market for a large storage drive.

I use these for photo file storage and back-up. They work flawlessly, provide lots of storage space, and are very reasonably priced. What more could you ask from a USB-3 external drive?

Setup was a little confusing if you don't know computers that well. But it works just fine for what it is meant to do. Nice that you can customize what files and folders you want to backup for whenever you plug it in.

Bought this hd to set up with pogo plug and worked like a charm. Very quiet and lays flat or stands on end to save valuable desk space. Have always been happy with Toshiba products.

I love it and use it all the time for storage and just recently bought an additional pc and it was so easy to move my files onto it!

This item is a great price for a 3 terabyte external hard drive. It's small size does not clutter up my already cluttered desk. I would highly recommend this item to anyone!

After researching back up drives and finding this one, I was hoping for a much easier set up and back up along with understanding what I was doing. One time it didn't backup and now it always says something about a backup not completing. I never can figure out if it's from before or if it's something not working every time. At least I feel like it's backing up....

quiet and fast. lots of storage space and good for backing up files. try not to drop it on its side when youre standing it up otherwise i read it can damage it.

This has to have an ac power cord plugged in at all times.

Works fast - copies fast- has a rather large plug in wall wart-- but then again all these drives have that. I really wish they would make them so you can plug them into a power strip without covering up other outlets!!

I needed to replace a hard drive that had broken and this worked perfectly! Fast transfer speed,very quiet and seems to be reliable.Time will tell.

I tried to follow the installation instructions on the quick start poster and nothing worked as the poster said it should. The disk needed to be reformatted to work, which wiped out the software files that were referenced on the quick start poster. But kudos to Toshiba customer service. I put in a call, it was answered promptly, the tech knew what she was talking about, and within five minutes of being talked through an alternative installation procedure, the drive was up and running. The 4-star was because I had the glitch in the first place. But Toshiba's customer service rates 6 stars.

Great storage capacity, easy to install and use, haven't had any problems with it at all. Overall great product for the price.

This is my second Toshiba external HD. I have a 2tb for my Wii U and a 3tb for my PC. Both work great and installed easy.

Great drive for storing lots of files. Still have room to store photos, music and videos. Great that it is USB 3.
