BEWARE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in 2015 and used it first in Windows 7, then moved to Windows 8, then to W 10 and back to 8.1. Major meltdown of my computer and when I went to retrieve files from Canvio nothing was there except a few files from W 7 use. Talked to Toshiba tech support: when you expose this to W 10 it is locked up and files are not accessible. Toshiba does not say this officially, but TS folks are hearing it from customers. Nothing they can do about it, but they offered me a full refund on the 2 year old purchase. I don't know if this applies to Canvios purchased now. 3 days so far of trying coax files out of my sick laptop and onto DVDs because the backup I relied on was destroyed by W 10, which is in keeping with the general stupidity and difficulty of Windows 10.

Beyond ridiculous!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We didn't even have this hard drive for a year, didn't drop, and it doesn't even work anymore. On our Xbox it will work than shut off than work and shut off. It deletes everything new you put on it. Our computer doesn't even recognize the device.

Expected better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My work bought one of these for backing up department files and it died on me after about 3 weeks of file transfers. I bought a second one myself in order to keep the transfer task moving forward and that one *also* died after about 3 weeks. Also, FYI for non-California customers, a booklet included warns that this product contains chemicals known to cause cancer and birth defects so wash your hands after handling!
