I got this dvd player when the dvd of my vhs/dvd combo player broke...I've have it for about a month now and so far so good. It's a great player, especially for the price...the only thing I don't like about it (which would not be a deal breaker for me - again especially becasue of the price) is the dvd calculates the chapter of the movie instead of the time while it's playing...not everyone will care about this and again it's not that big of a deal but I tend to like to know how much more of the movie is left when watching and because this dvd player only calculates the chapter of the movie I have no idea how much I have watched or how much time is left to go...

I purchased this and a very similar Phillips refurbished player to replace two older players that would hang up when playing DVD +R format discs. I create DVDs in this format on my computer and want to watch them on multiple systems in the house. The Phillips player also had trouble with this format and would start intermittently locking up when I put more than about an hour of video on a DVD whereas this player and my BluRay player had no problems with it all. I took the Phillips back and bought a 2nd one of these. Both of these work great! The sleek styling is nice and having the HDMI output resolution control as a button right on the front is very convenient rather than driving through onscreen menus. Very nice unit and price/value is great!

I had two problems. The HDMI cable is only 4 feet long which they don't tell you. I needed 5 ft. I installed it, turned it on, and loaded a DVD. It told me "NO DISC." I tried another one, same thing. I plugged the first DVD into my other player and it played fine. I plugged it back into the new DVD player and it worked perfectly. Now all work. Now it gives me an excellent picture and sound. You can't beat it for the price.

Figured this player would be good since it was a Toshiba, and was correct. Haven't had any issues with scratched DVDs or malfunction. Very easy to install and an included HDMI cord is a plus since they tend to retail at $25-50. Nice skinny, sleek design (very light in weight) and looks great with other boxes on my entertainment center. Would recommend.

So far so good. Good upconvert quality. Decent sound quality over the RCA and HDMI. The Best Buy description is WRONG there are absolutely no inputs on the unit.

This product arrived packaged as if it were new. You cannot tell this is refurbished. I bought 4 - one for each TV. The "upconversion" to HD feature of this DVD player makes the quality as good as a blu-ray without having to buy all new blu-ray DVDs. Also, at $27 with the HDMI cable included, you cannot beat the price. You will not be disappointed.

I've had this doohickey for about 6 weeks now, and no complaints. The delivery was timely, and it looked new upon arrival. I've played many dvd's on this unit and all of the functions work properly, plus the picture is very good. Something that I just noticed recently is interesting; my tv is a new 720p plasma and when I play StarTrek dvd's (original series ala Kirk, Spock) I get the sharpest picture when I set the player to 420p. The picture quality isn't as sharp as a blue ray player but its pretty sharp. I like it. It does what I need it to do. However, I don't really seem to notice the difference with the HD conversion cable. I do have an HD tv by the way. My roommate has a 52 inch lcd and uses audio/video cables for hook up and the picture quality is just as good. The HD cable is convenient though and can come in handy for other gadgets. This DVD player also came with audio/video cables. Nonetheless, great purchase!!! The price was too good to pass up!

I bought this because the specs on the site say it has an S-Video Input, Audio Input and VGA input.... IT DOES NOT... it has ZERO inputs. If you just want a DVD player... it's probably fine... but don't buy it so you can hook anything else up through it because it has NO INPUTS at all!

A little concerned about refurbished anything, but this unit has performed like new, looks like new, and is a great addition to my viewing gear not to mention the super price. Old CD's quality greatly improved by upconverting. I will not be as concerned about refurbished items in the future. Thanks Bestbuy !!

needed a dvd in the crunch right in the middle of holday season .came across it by accident through the bestbuy website at an awesome price .use it at least once a week and havent had a problem with it even though it was a refurbished unit .came with hdmi cable that was a plus

Picked this up to hook up to the new HDTV in the playroom. The previous reviews were so-so. I'm very happy w/this so far. It plays all of the DVDs that we've thrown at it with no issues. A simple tool for a simple job- but it works! I loved that it came with a HDMI wire- it saved me from having to use one of my extras.

i bought this as a refurbed unit from the BB website. the day i got it home and, as a test, i popped in Band of Brothers and everything looked great, with a very clear picture when upscaling. however, about 20min into watching a movie, the picture would go black for a few seconds (audio would be fine). sometimes the picture would come back on its own, sometimes i would have to intervene and pause and restart the video for it to reappear. this happened 3, 4, 5 times before i decided i had purchased a dud. call me foolish, but i had figured i'd gotten a lemon so i ordered the exact same product again, thinking it couldnt happen twice. it did. the 2nd unit had some of the same symptoms, but also had the habit of showing the video/audio in a jerky fashion (as if i were pressing pause then play over and over very rapidly) until i stopped the DVD and restarted it, and would sometimes show the video completely pixelated and with choppy audio. needless to say, i returned them both promptly.

This product is easy to use and it has excellent picture. No problem hooking it up. I will recommend this product because it is great for the value.

I am very pleased with this refurbished DVD player. It looks and operates like brand new!

I'm still not quite sure what the difference is between a plain ol' DVD player and an "upconvert". Either way, this works well and was very easy to set up and use.

Great deal with HDMI and comes with cables to boot. No problems yet and gets used all the time.
