I love this laptop!! its great, works well for what i need (blogging, games, art) and has served me pretty well. That is, until today.
Let me give you background on this: I spilled a little apple juice on the keyboard awhile ago, no biggie, popped off the space bar, wiped it off, still worked a++. That was two months ago. Today, i decided i was tired of my "m" key sticking/not working right at all, so i thought hey, if the space bar popped on real easy, this key should too!!
Boy was i w r o n g
I have been fighting with this awful keyboard contraption for two hours. TWO. HOURS. its like one of those super 1000 square rubix cubes. IN that span of two hours, i've gotten everything on but the key. its still not on. i have tried everything from gentle, even pressure, to the force required to kill a large, hardy mammal. This thing will not go on. its sitting there, right above where its supposed to go, taunting me like something out of a terrible fighting game..
Im mad!!
Also, this is the tame version of the review. I cannot fully express my anger here.

This was very disappointing t me, as I am a huge fan of Toshiba products, but my laptop had some glitch that made me have to return it. When plugged in to charge, if I put it to sleep, it would shut down completely. When this would happen, the only way to re-start it required removing and replacing the battery.

I purchased this laptop as my my 7th toshiba laptop , been loyal to the brand since 2007..never had problem with toshiba laptops..great for everyday browsing and everyday work laptops with reliability you can depend on.

I am upset at Best Buy for their floor salesman recommending this laptop. It is complete garbage. While still under warranty, the keyboard back light died. One week after the warranty, the motherboard failed and the speakers hum. The speakers literally buzz while the computer is on. I have to force shutdown by holding down the power button because the start menu doesn't work. The touch screen is poor. I will never buy a laptop from best buy again. I am disgusted by the help and service I have received.

Windows 10 wouldn't run Firefox Browser and Pandora radio with out freezing up and the plug for the Ear phone kept turning the volume down on me so I couldn't listen to music and surf the web but the speaker's were OK it's not supper fast but works OK for small stuff email etc.

There should be no issue using Firefox and Pandora so I recommend uninstalling the apps that you're having trouble with, shutting down Windows, rebooting the unit, then reinstalling the removed apps.
I also recommend making sure all Windows Updates are installed and, if the earphone problem continues, visiting support.toshiba.com to download and install the latest sound driver for your unit.

Recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite intel core i3. Very displeased with the computer. Freezes often, mouse has stopped working on multiple occasions. Internet and computer programs VERY slow. I purchased this computer for school.. I currently have the same computer but a model about 5 years older, and loved it. At this point that computer works more efficiently and faster than the one I have had for less than 2 weeks. I should add my old computer has close to 500 pictures, and close to 20 documents not including downloads. I only transferred maybe 50 pictures and 8 documents to the new computer. Both of which have the same memory size. I will be contacting Toshiba directly on Monday and hopefully returning this device.

Thank you for the review, schooler, and sorry to hear that you seem to be experiencing some sort of general performance issue with your Satellite C55-B5355.
If this is a new system to you then it's possible that Windows Update has been busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed.
Of course, the perceived speed & responsiveness of any PC will depend somewhat on the number of programs and processes currently running on the unit at any point in time, and their respective demands on various components, subsystems, and networking resources. Rebooting Windows and then checking performance after loading each individual app is one way to determine when the resource load begins to impact performance, and which apps most impact performance.
Regarding the touchpad response time, slight delays can sometimes be caused by an application or service being prioritized above user inputs. (Again, this could be related to Windows Update activity if new.)
If the issues haven't yet resolved themselves and if you haven't yet spoken with Toshiba support, please contact them at your earliest convenience by calling 800-457-7777.

The alphanumeric key spacing is quite standardized so I wonder if you could elaborate on what you mean about the keys being too close. Also, can you explain what symptom you experienced in relation to your reference to the keyboard being "ultra sensitive."
