Major problem wireless card too cheap. Cannot get a signal over 45 out of the 200 Mbs I have. Doesn't do video or streaming for s***!

Recently purchased this Toshiba laptop.. So far it's great! For the price it's not bad at all. I prefer a better sound quality, but it's fine because the price was reasonable. I bought this laptop for school purposes and it seems to do the job!

I bought this laptop looking for something that I could play Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeon and Dragons Online, and Skyrim on, and use Roll20. I planned to switch the Windows 10 Operating system for Linux Mint 17 KDE, but I wanted the Geek Squad warranty option in case of hardware issues.
Under Windows 10 it worked well (for the short time I used it), but getting everything working under Linux Mint 17.1 and 17.3 KDE has been a bit of a challenge. Updating the video drivers to the AMD proprietary drivers didn't go well when I tried the method in System Settings. I ended up installing them via command-line when the GUI crashed. And the sound still isn't working correctly with Steam. I made a bash program to easily run the scripts necessary to reload pulseaudio and alsa when they crash.
However, everything else is working well. And except for the sound issue, I have found solutions online. I can play the games I like using Wine, the Internet works fine. The keyboard feels wonderful, and BIOS, you can change the FN key to be required for Laptop controls or the Function Keys.
All-in-all, I have been happy with the system. It probably is satisfactory for someone wanting to stick with Windows, but for Linux users, comfort with command-line installs is required, and the ability to find solutions online and understand which ones are bad and which ones are safe.
