Poor quality.

Received the first one and was unable to connect to WIFI unless it was in the room with the modem and router. After unsuccessfully trying to diagnose/ fix with Toshiba tech support arrangements were made to have a replacement sent out. The shipping did not include the defective unit being picked up so I had to drive a half hour's distance to the nearest UPS store. This is Best Buy's fault but it ultimately falls on Toshiba's quality. The second unit works OK but is slow and the performance is less than that of my old HP Elitebook 8460. The ten screws that hold the bottom panel on have begun to fall out randomly after approximately the first month also. I see why the price of this unit has decreased so much in the last month and half or so and is now on clearance. I don't know if these issues are indicative of Toshiba's quality or just this model as it's the first Toshiba product I've owned. I haven't run into these issues with other manufacturers. .

WIFI PROBLEMS!!

Buyer Beware--- This computer has major wifi problems right from the start. It took 10 tries to connect to my wifi at work, while my phone and work computer were connected instantly. At home, while on our on own router, web pages load halfway and then stop. I use a laptop for everything and need to be able to get online quickly so this laptop is useless to me. Same issue trying to connect at my car dealer while waiting for my car to be serviced -- laptop could not connect but my phone connected just fine. Should have read the reviews before I purchased it. Look online there are tons of reviews that say the same exact thing about wifi connection problems! Thank God I am still within my 14 day return period. I am boxing this up this weekend and making the 60 mi drive back to Best Buy to get something else.

Speakers are making cracking sounds and the computer keeps crashing. I picked this up yesterday and will be returning it. I've had 6 critical events (ID 41), 239 errors , 120 warnings, etc...

Thank you for the review, JC562, and sorry to hear about the critical events on your Satellite E45DWE45DW-C4210.
I understand that you're planning to return it, but if you haven't done so yet you may want to try doing a Windows Reset to restore Windows to its factory settings to see if that eliminates the problem. While this symptom may be a hardware failure, in which case you certainly should return it, doing the Windows Reset is an effective way to prove (or disprove) whether this being a hardware problem. The Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-do-I-reset-my-Windows-10-computer-to-factory-defaults/ta-p/657990 has more details and step-by-step instructions for that process if you want to give it a shot.
I hope you'll update your review to let us know the results if you take the above steps, or how the new unit works if you get it replaced.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

bought 2, both malfunctioning right out of the box

I bought two of these, seduced by the low price and CPU speed. However, both would not set up correctly, couldn't log into microsoft, every webpage except for MSN gave an expired certificate warning & many apps not working. Called tech support who didn't know much, kept insisting it was my wifi (really? Since when does that give an expired certificate message on the web browser???) She then claimed it was an unusua issue and to take them back to the store. Interesting how both had the same issues - doesn't seem unusual to me based on that. I'm reasonably tech savvy so this wasn't user error. So much for Toshiba products and tech support - won't try this brand again...

Thank you for the review, KCSmarin, and sorry to hear that you had a couple of issues with your Satellite E45DW.
You mention that you "couldn't log into Microsoft," so I wonder if that was a reference to using a Microsoft Account to log in to Windows on your new laptop. If so, you would need to first create a Microsoft Account if you haven't already done so. See the Microsoft article at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/getstarted-microsoft-account for more details.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

I got this laptop in hopes it would be perfect for college.... I was let down when it crashed within the first hour. I returned thinking that specific computer was just a dud.... No the second couldn't even get through my wifi password without crashing. I WILL be returning this product, but I WILL NOT be purchasing another laptop that bares the name toshiba or is a 2-1 it's just not worth it. And as for this computer, as the review caption says...just don't

Speakers do not work

The speakers of the computer do not work. The sound with headphones is ok, but despite having updated the drivers for the speakers, they do not work at all. Also, it takes forever to start and connect to WiFi. I would definitely return it but unfortunately I bought the computer just before I traveled. Bad, very bad.

Bought this laptop yesterday and it overheated too much for no reason. Froze couple of times. And it all of a sudden it said error - just crashed on me and went all black. Returned it this morning. Bought my self now Toshiba - Satellite Radius 2-in-1 15.6 with Intel Core I7. I hope this won't crash on me. If it does I will no longer buy Toshiba computers.

Thank you for the review, Sardor, and sorry to hear about the error condition with your Satellite E45DW-C4210.
It's good to hear that you had no problem returning the defective unit and that you went with an even more powerful Toshiba model. I hope you'll post a review for the new unit to let us know how it works for you.
Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba.

WiFi issues ruin the whole experience

Few days after buying the product Wi-Fi issues surfaced. The problems are everywhere: web-sites don't load; downloads sometimes fall off or speeds vary extremely. In games it's impossible to play because of disconnects and 500+ ms latency.

Thank you for the review, X41822N, and sorry that you're experiencing some sort of reliability issue with Wi-Fi on your Satellite E45DW-C4210.
Response of the website or any application that requires internet connection can be affected by the speed of the network itself. It will also depend somewhat on the number of programs and processes currently running on the unit at any point in time, and their respective demands on various networking resources.
If those tips don't help, and based on your report that the problem started after a few days of use (not immediately), I recommend performing a Windows Reset to return the software installation and configuration to factory condition. This will resolve any issues that may have been introduced by software installations or configuration changes. See the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-do-I-reset-my-Windows-10-computer-to-factory-defaults/ta-p/657990 for more info and detailed instructions.
If the issue persists after a Windows Reset, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further help.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.
