While many appreciate the laptop's lightweight design and affordable price, some express concerns about its weight and occasional internet connectivity issues.

I was looking for a laptop with a touch screen that could be used as a tablet, this laptop has the ability to be folded in half and used as such. HOWEVER, the screen is too big to really use it as a user friendly tablet, far too large for my hands. I still really like this laptop, it works fast, no issues downloading things like iTunes and Word. Be aware, this is a Windows 10 laptop, I have tried figuring out how to adjust my settings so that updates are NOT auto installed, there is NO option, so any updates Microsoft releases you will be forced to download, that is my major complaint althoug not Toshiba's fault. This laptop is plenty loud, bright screen, decent battery life considering the screen size, a definite improvement from my 3 year old Dell.

    Great Laptop, with minor caveats

I purchased this laptop as a secondary; my primary laptop is a MSI gaming laptop that has great performance, but (expectedly) poor battery life. I am a senior computer security engineer, and I use this laptop when I travel and for running VM's (virtual machines). I also use it to stream media from my personal server as well as the web, and for office productivity... so pretty much everything outside of intensive gaming or graphics work. The Basics: The laptop is well made; with firm hinges, a decent keyboard with excellent backlighting, a strong frame with little flex. The good: The laptop has a very good full-HD (1920x1080) IPS display. For those unfamiliar with IPS or "In-Plane Switching", displays, this technology basically allows the display to have wider viewing angles and more crisp color and detail. I have put it through the paces with HD content, and it performs very well. Also, the built in speakers with Harmon-Kardon DTS technology are loud and clear, making this a good multimedia machine. There are adequate USB 3.0 ports, and the SD card reader is a push-to eject, meaning you can grab a high capacity high-speed SD card and easily add storage space; as the card will sit almost flush with the side of the laptop when the card is seated. 8 GB of RAM is plenty for most users, and despite Toshiba's claims to the contrary, the RAM is easily upgradable to 16GB by the user, provided the user is comfortable removing a few screws on the back cover plate (more on this later). The not-so-good: The mechanical hard drive on this laptop is not the fastest... boot up times and read/write leave much to be desired, but this does not render the laptop unusable... far from it. However, performance junkies like myself will not be satisfied with the HD included with the machine. If you are a college student (or purchasing the laptop for one) or all you need to do is web browse, watch movies and streaming content, office productivity, etc.. then you will be perfectly fine. But flip the laptop over, remove about 12 small Philips head screws and install an SSD (Best buy has 256 GB SSD's for less than $150) and this machine will SCREAM! I'm talking sub 8-second boot times on Windows 10, and apps/webpages launching immediately. This machine is on sale, so buy it, buy a SSD, install it (literally takes 10 minutes), and you will have a laptop with excellent battery life and outstanding performance. One final caveat... there are a few models of this laptop available, with Core i5/i7 processors in both 4th and 5th generation dies. Regardless of whether you get the i5 or the i7, be sure to get the 5th generation processor (Haswell), as the Haswell CPU's have Intel's improved power management, and your battery life will be 40-60 percent better on the 5th Gen CPU's. Just ask the Best Buy associate if you are unsure, and they can check for you. All in all, I would recommend this laptop very highly, unless you are planning on playing high-demand PC games (Call of Duty, etc..) in which case a gaming laptop would be a much better fit. For anyone else, grab it now while it's on sale!!

1st one was defective and returned same day (early batch might have been defective). Best Buy customer rep spent 30 min making sure replacement worked fine-excellent service in Lexington, SC store. Love this computer. Windows 10 a breeze. Touch screen erased my doubts about that as a computer feature. Bought for light weight, Harmon Kardon speakers, right mix of RAM and hard drive storage, and great feel. Didn't care about 2 in 1 feature but now find it great for playing standard computer games. Quickly figured out how to add programs (APs) and customize desktop. Great battery life. Great sound. My 1st Bluetooth computer. Bluetooth sync with radio in next room no problem. Bluetooth doesn't have the distance of WiFi, so research this if that is your intention (not fault of computer). Haven't used "Cortina" and haven't needed the accessible guide since displays are intuitive. Use it for Microsoft games, internet, and Microsoft Office. Windows 10 offers an abundance of free games just like the old days, but upgraded with modern graphics and daily challenges. Backlit keyboard nice. Only complaint: Print on alternative function keys too light to read so I just learned where my function keys are. Had a license left on my Office so I didn't activate the free trial on the computer. Had year subscription to Norton with room to add computer so I didn't activate the McAfee or free Best Buy protection software. See other reviews for info on these. Since this replaced a Toshiba, I was drawn to Toshiba also because I like its proprietary "Toshiba Service Station" software. If you will use it for Powerpoint presentations, make sure the projection system doesn't require the older, serial connection. I saved my older Toshiba for that purpose.

I use my laptop mostly for work but do play a few games on it from time to time. The tactile feedback and backlit keyboard are a very nice improvement from my last laptop. Battery life to better than most from my perspective. Windows 10 is really sweet.

I love all the features of this laptop when it works. The size and battery life are great, and the 2-in-1 design is super convenient. I picked this laptop because my other Toshiba lasted almost 6 years with minimal issues, and Toshiba generally has a good environmental rating. That said, I've had a lot of problems with this computer. First and foremost, the internet connection is very faulty, especially with Comcast internet. Even when all my other devices have WiFi signals, the laptop sometimes will not and I have to restart the computer to get it to reconnect. Good thing it restarts so quickly! I read that this is a common problem with Windows 10, and an update should fix it. However, either I cannot get the update to download properly or that's not the real problem. I've also noticed some irregularities with the speakers, so I don't know if maybe my sound card is bad already, but I will take that as a bad sign. I should also mention that this is my second actual model of this laptop, since the first one I bought had a bad hard drive right out of the box and I had to return it.

I normally read reviews prior to making high dollar purchases, but this time I didn't. Spent about an hour with sales associate explaining different features on many different laptops. I definitely wanted a touch screen which this laptop has. I was looking for a decent size screen and am pleased with this one. Didn't care really about the 360 rotation, but seems many come with this feature now. Wasn't looking to break the bank and got this one on sale. I'm very satisfied with the product. I've only had it a short time and that is the only reason I gave it a 4 star rating.

Bought this so I"d have a new laptop that could keep up with me while I was pregnant and could keep me busy during my time in the hospital. It accomplished all this. The battery life is pretty good for the size of the laptop. The back lit keyboard is very helpful as I often use it at night. Only thing I required was an external mouse. The track pad has the same issue I have had with almost every trackpad - accidently have 2 fingers near it and it zooms.

I bought this 7/30 and I have been in love since I unboxed it. Purchased on my lunch I couldn't wait til I got off work to play around. It's very smooth, fast and responsive. I LOVE the brushed metal casing. The keyboard is beautifully backlit and easy to type on. I was weary of Windows 10, but I have so far been very pleased. It seems a great middle point between the "old" windows and the newer feel. I am really enjoying the touchscreen, so far I have no complaints. I'm still getting used to Windows 10 as my other laptop is Windows 7. Toshiba seems to have a pretty great product for a fair price. Speaking of price, I bought mine on a Friday, Sunday I got an email that this model went $100 off, I called up best buy customer service, they processed a price match and within 48hours the money was returned to the card I used to purchase. Very happy with this purchase and the customer service.

Love it! So much better than the Windows 8....was worth the wait for 10. There are still afew things I'm trying to work out, but overall, very well satisfied. Had a 2010 Toshiba Satellite, so wanted to replace with the same. Highly recommended. Fast, accurate, backlit keyboard an eye-saver.

I appreciate the backlit keyboard and touch screen, although I prefer the lighted keyboard on the mac over a backlit keyboard. Windows 10 is a struggle to learn compared to previous versions. Be aware that the 'easy windows transfer' doesn't work to transfer data from your old computer on to a windows 10 computer. I had to buy an external hard drive, transfer my data, and then install the data and my old software onto the new computer. Windows technicians were very helpful over the phone and with 'remote access' to help with this, although my computer crashed twice after installs. You may want to pay the Geek Squad to do the work for you. Computer ran slow for me with the edge, but is faster with Firefox. I probably should have considered the i7 for more speed.

My computer died and I spent a little time trying to find the right one. Well this I was the best thing out there! The combination between the solid sleek laptop body with the combination of the touch screen made this one must have computer for the jurors Doctor candidate. Windows 10 is such an improve from the recent span of terrible operating systems. Must buy

We bought this laptop because my desktop has become too obsolete to be practical anymore. The touchscreen feature is wonderful, and I love the flexibility available in the hinge since it can fold back all the way to be used as a tablet as well. To be honest I haven't used it in tablet mode much, but I am confident that because of the design the hinge will survive much better than a regular laptop. It took me a little while to figure out how to turn on and off the touch pad feature, as there is a quick key to turn it off but you have to go back through settings to turn it back on. I'm sure that someone that is more laptop savvy would probably figure it out a lot faster than I did. Over all, it's a wonderful laptop. I wish it had a cd-drive, but that's a minor complaint as an external cd-drive can be easily purchased and plugged in.

Touch screen is a bonus especially when using split screens. I also enjoy the rotation so I can be comfortable wherever I'm studying. The battery life is really good too. The only bad thing is when I bought it no one informed me that it was going to update with Windows 10 right away so when I got it home and turned it on, the screen blacked out for about 30 minutes, I thought the laptop was a lemon but once it updated it's been awesome.

The Toshiba laptop combines sleekness and performance married to an awesome display. The Windows experience is definitely improved with the touch screen experience. Though it's a little bit on the heavier side with 15 inch , a 14 inch would be an ideal balance between specs and weight.

Upgraded my clunky 8 year old laptop after dawdling because I didn't want to use Windows 8, despite a keyboard that was dying. Pleasantly surprised by ease of transition to touchscreen and Windows 10, though the update to 10 took quite a while to load--no problems, however.

I've had the PC a month and its my first use of Windows 10. I love the size and brightness of the screen and resolution, the keypad was a must-have for me. Its so lightweight and slim that I won't mind hauling it to school each week to teach. My only concern (and undoubtedly there's an easy fix!) is that I need to connect to a projector at school to show the class my slides and there's no port that I'm used to seeing to do that. I really like the brushed metal so much more than my last Toshiba PC with a glossy black. It's not looking so smudged all the time!

Best Windows computer I've owned in recent years. I've had the computer for almost 3 months and gets the job done with school work and side projects. Though I suggest getting a bigger memory/ hard drive if you know you are going to do a lot of projects. But a 750 GB will suffice for browsing. Touch screen is very handy for multitasking and surprisingly a lightweight computer for its size. Honestly, I prefer Windows over Mac just because it's not as complex to learn the control gestures while using the mouse track.
