Brought it back and exchanged for another Toshiba, which it took them forever to find. I got past the setup , but the next time I turned it on it went black again for a long time and then got a error code. Now it takes over 10 minutes to shut down or restart. I am really thinking something is wrong and it is not going to last. Getting very nervous that this is a lemon. I got a Toshiba because I thought it was a quality product. Now I read that many have had the same issues. Maybe Toshiba needs to do a recall and figure out what is going on. Just a thought.

Posted .Thank you for the review, Monti, and sorry to hear that you've had some sort of error condition with your Satellite P55W-C5200X.
I wonder if Windows Update has been busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed and could be impacting shut down and start up performance.
If you've been using the laptop for awhile already and you're confident that all updates had been completed before the error condition occurred, I recommend doing a Windows Reset to restore the software installation and configuration to factory condition. That will eliminate any issues introduced by software or configuration changes. The Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-do-I-reset-my-Windows-10-computer-to-factory-defaults/ta-p/657990 has more details and step-by-step instructions for that process.
