I bought this 2-in-1 to replace an older laptop for teaching my kids that are homeschooled. This is absolutely perfect for us! Toshiba is never a disappointment!

Purchased this computer back in November for a Christmas present for my wife. Plugged in the cord to set it up for her, and no power. Now I get to fight the crowds tomorrow at Best Buy trying to return this computer and I will be surprised if they have any in stock, but don't know if I want another one. Maybe should have gone with the HP I was also considering.

This computer started giving problems after the first 45 days of use. The keys i k , . are simply not working anymore. The screen has a bug as well, the mouse will start moving all over without being touched. I called customer service and I have to pay $29 to ship it for them to fix it.

Thank you for the review, Mdcc85, and sorry to hear that your Satellite P55W-C5200X needs a warranty repair.
Regarding the fee you mentioned, this is a nominal charge to have a shipping box delivered to you with packing and prepaid shipping for delivery to our repair depot. (There's no charge for the warranty repair itself and Toshiba covers the return shipping.) While customers are responsible for the outgoing shipping to our depot facility for repairs, you do have the option to use the packing materials and carrier of your choice to avoid the fee. That said, we do recommend using Toshiba's prepaid shipping method, which includes a Toshiba-designed protective box and includes all handling costs.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Decent computer, not worth $800

I got this computer in October of 2014 to replace a 2-3-year-old Satellite in which the modem suddenly died. I did look at the reviews before I purchased, but didn't realize the lack of CD drive (my fault). It was mostly purchased for the decent speakers (we had recently had 2 Toshibas in which the speakers went bad). In the time that I had it (a little less than 2 years). I've had at least 3 problems in which i'very had to take it back to Best Buy. The first was covered under my 1-year warranty. I had dropped the computer at school and a few keys were unresponsive. The other two problems were not covered by my warrantee, because it was past 1 year. The first was a problem with the heat sink/fan in which the computer was super noisy upon start-up and when opening programs. The second problem was a battery failure. So all in all, not the best computer for the price. I would suggest that if you buy this computer, get the 2 year warranty. Probably not gonna go with a Toshiba again.

Thank you for the review, 650driver, and sorry to hear that you had issues with your Satellite P55W-C5200X.
I understand that you already returned the product but for future reference with regards to brand new Windows PCs, it's possible that Windows Update was busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is complete.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Decent for a touch screen but...

Screen constantly freezing. It's been 4 months, and I've already got the black screen of death after recent windows update and had many important files that I will probably lose now if I do a system restore. Doesn't seem very hardy...

Terrible

I bought this product 8 months ago. Its screws started to fall out and 2 of them were lost. Thus I started to fasten them periodically and use tape on some parts. I thought it's not important, but this caused a small crack in the back of laptop because of being lose.
Now the battery is gone!!!!! and because of that small crack at back, they refused to give me any kind of support. Also the battery is not like regular ones and costs more than twice of them, around $100~120.
I regret buying this product and won't suggest buying Toshiba brand to any friend.

THE WORST LAPTOP EVER

THE WORST LAPTOP EVER. They do not even rate a 1 star. My screen started bubbling up after 14 months, then the fan quit working, and then the hard drive. The computer would freeze up constantly. Toshiba did nothing it was out of warranty. The good news is that I bought it with my Master Card. Anything bought on my card extended the warranty by 2 years. No problem with MC they gave me a full refund. Thank you master card, 5 stars for you.
I was at best buy and saw a couple getting ready to buy the same laptop. I told them about mine and they bought something else. Word of mouth Toshiba, work of mouth.

Motherboard keeps crashing

Motherboard has went out twice in 2 years, and was never right after first time it went out. Motherboard should never be over loaded since its used for internet rarely and mainly used for Microsoft and programming. Kept record of it but nothing Best Buy can do they say. Hopefully its just a Lemon computer.

Read the negative reviews

I should have paid a little more attention to the negative reviews. I just bought this computer in March and kept thinking "Wow! This thing is great. I'm not having any problems with it at all!". Well, it died. Not much more to say than that.
