If the classic recall got you through those long borimg summer days.. Wait till you are somewhat entertained by a rehashed movie starring colin ferral as some wise guy who is waking up to the unjust world that is a police state and his implanted wife that is keeping him down in life. Its a classic redpill awakening as he realizes that life can be better without a wife or a job.

Okay, other than a few of the characters and the basic premise of memory manipulation thru chemistry, this bares no resemblance to the original Arnold movie. Yet this makes it a much better movie than if they had made a word for word remake. I've always been a Colin Farrell fan, and he doesn't disappoint in this one. Lots of action, lots of twists and turns, and great job on the "locations". It all plays well together and I find myself watching this movie whenever I want to be entertained.

Great movie, i also have the original Total recall remastered in bluray and it looks awesome and so does this one. I do have a samsung UBD K8500 4k bluray player and a samsung UN65JS8500 4K SUHD tv and just about every bluray movie including this mastered in 4k total recall looks great. I can tell you that even though it looks great, it doesnt come close to real 4k movie format. The picture is sharp but just not 4k sharp. Over all though its a great film and i would highly recommend it anyways.

    Pleasantly Surprised

Honestly I was worried this would be another needless remake of a "classic Arnold movie". I was very pleasantly surprised! The common concept was pretty much the same, but the setting and "the chase" were VERY different. Without giving it away, I will leave it at that. The acting was very good as well. Understand, that this movie was created some 22 years after the first, so the visuals are way better as well. They both should stand on their own, and this movie should not be simply refered to as a "remake".

This movie wasn't as bad as I was led to believe by all the internet fanboys and fan sites that seem to have it in for this movie. It looked great, the visuals were excellent. The story was ok, using parts of the original and adding it's own layers that, while a bit contrived, worked well in context. The main thing missing was a sense of humor. Maybe Colin Farrell wasn't the right lead or the director took the story too seriously, but I missed the original's sense of ultra-violent camp. Still...not a waste of time.

I like chase films and this is a great one. Very different in tone and focus than the other film of the same name, all action is on Earth - but there are plenty of references to Verhoevens' version. Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale do pretty good jobs in the action (chase) sequences, wish there was more Brian Cranston. This bundle has both Theatrical and Directors Cut on Blue Ray, and the Theatrical version on DVD. Both versions are included in HD UltraViolet download.

After viewing this movie, I'd agree with reviews that said it was much better than the original. I must say though that the classic version by Arnold holds its own considering the time & technology that was available when it was recorded. This remake was acted out nicely by its actors, using the more advanced technology & special effects available in our day. They changed the story a bit, which I'd say worked for them for it made it more exciting until the last scene. I enjoyed watching it.

I thought I'd be seeing a remake of the Schwarzenegger movie, but the new story line was a pleasant change from a simply remake. Without wishing to spoil the story for any reader of this review, suffice it to say that I thought the link between the two fighting locations was very far-fetched, both scientifically, and from a plausibility perspective. Overall I really enjoyed the movie though - good action, good story and a nice play on the older movie's underlying storyline

This remake, or rather, re-adaptation is not anywhere as bad as some nostalgia-sufferers would have you believe. While I love the original Arnie classic, this new take on the Philip K. Dick story stands on it's own as an entertaining action romp. A lot of great action throughout, and the acting is good. The story, while not bad, is a bit thin. And in many ways it's closer to the source material than the 1990 movie was. Definitely recommended for action fans.

Total Recall (2012) Better Than Original

Director's cut is 12 minutes longer, with an uncredited appearance by Ethan Hawke in one scene. Story based on Philip Dick's "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale." Fast action scenes and some interesting futuristic tech ideas (ie, the Fall & the under-the-skin palm phone - "where can I get one of those!"). The Colony scenes remind of the world of Blade Runner. Overall, an interesting fast-paced film with great tech-action scenes.

Packaging - Best Buy, please tell your employees that when they process a store pick up, to check for damages on the disc. I ordered online for a store pick up and as soon as I opened it, the bluray case was cracked. There were fingerprints on the disc which leads me to believe the disc was not new but used although advertised as new but on sale. I don't care for the case as long as the movie itself works and the digital copy unclaimed. Just my two cents. Movie - The movie itself was excellent. Plenty of action scenes that move the plot along. I love sci-fi movies and this one did not disappoint. I never watched the first edition of this movie way back then, but this one kept me entertained all the way through the end.

I know there is a sentimental following for the original but this version far surpasses that. This one is not perfect but it has a better story, better actors and superior special effects. Thus it is more believable. I've watched this several times for the special effects alone. The attention to detail is impressive. It's what science fiction is all about.

Yes this is a remake, but, it is really good at taking liberty with the story, lots of really good remarks to the original (woman at the airport), and definitely today's technology helps to enhance the visual aspect and feel of the dystopian future portrait in this film, despite the negative comments on it I enjoy it a lot end think the was very well done if not better than the original.

The destiny of the re-make film is that people already knows that how it ends. Then, there are two ways to satisfy the audience: One is to twist the plot and to get the different ending, Or to add full different visuals to cover the story. In this case, it is the latter. Better and nicer action and visual, but we know how it ends. If you simply ignore how it ends, it is a good action movie.

Personally, unless your someone who gets stuck up on originals and doesn't want to move past them - this is a good movie and you'll like it. The visual affects are great, the acting is surprisingly good, the story is there too! So the reviews aren't the best, but I think they are mostly coming from people not seeing or wanting to see anyone but Arnold and Sharon in the lead roles!

I love the classic with Arnold. So not to give too much away about the new version- it pays homage to some parts of the original movie. To sum this up, i like the new version. I do not however, thinks this is a reboot of the classic. In my mind i think of it as a movie that is kinda/ sorta like the classic, but with a modern new twist imo. To each his/ her own.

Factory worker, Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), and his beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Intense sci-fi violence and action.

If you were a fan of the first film with Schwarzenegger, then you'll love this twist on Total Recall. I absolutely loved it. If you watch on blu ray, this is a perfect example of a movie with some great visuals. And of course you've got Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale in the same film NICE! And for only 10 bucks at best buy, you can't beat it with a stick!
