I've only owned this for two weeks. Ah, twoooo weeeks. TWOOOO WEEEEKSSSSS.... Don't vote this as helpful/unhelpful until seeing the movie. Seriously, it was time to get this in Blu-Ray with a nice 4K option if you have such a player. I watched it on a Blu-Ray only with 4K upscale built into the player, so I was not taking full advantage of the native 4K data stream. However, on a 65" TV, it just was amazing. Really, this stuff today is better than the movie theatres of the 1990's. There is some small graininess, although for the reasons above, I'm not sure I could blame it on the video mastering. There is no question this is better than the HD disc I have, in the round metal Mars container, should any of you have that version. There are some nice (new) special features, although I haven't seen any of them yet...as I've only had this for TWO WEEKS.

One of Arnold's best roles and pictures. Presumably inspired by the sci-fi writer, Philip K Dick's stories. I wouldn't want to spoil the plot of Total Recall by offering any particular details. It's best to experience the movie totally unprepared. I've probably seen the movie 20 times, and wished to see it in 4k because it's always been a staple of my core film collection. Presentation of the film on 4K with bonus material, a special edition slip cover appears excellent. I don't really get excited about limited edition, lenticular or embossed slip covers. But if they come with one, I guess I tend to keep them. A digital version of the film in 4k also came with the package, and I am beginning to see the benefit in that (occasional convenience when on the road), although the uncompressed 4k disc played through a 4k disc player is by far the better viewing and audio (in most cases). The sale price for this 4k disc I feel was very good, at <10, especially for a rather new release.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray presentation of Total Recall is not to be missed. With a Dolby Vision transfer and Dolby Atmos immersive audio presentation, this film is like you've never experienced it before. Plus, the 3-disc set is loaded with special features. The 4K disc includes some of the special features, while there is an additional Blu-ray disc containing just special features. Plus, you get the film on Blu-ray on a standalone disc. Speaking of extras, there is a hour-long documentary on Carolco, the studio that brought you the Rambo films, Total Recall, Fatal Attraction and so many others. It's a very interesting documentary and it is great to see it included here. Plus, bonus features on Total Recall such as scoring the film and the effects and production. All of the three discs include artwork, as well. The slipcover is great and Best Buy has a Steelbook that utilizes the art from the disc menus. This is the version to own. And at the price, it makes Total Recall on 4K UHD Blu-ray a must-buy.

This is a classic Arnold film that is also a cautionary tale of what may happen one day when we establish a colony on Mars - in terms of the revolution happening between the people there and the governments on Earth wanting control (like the colonists in America and their "little" revolution in a way) and less so the mutations and aliens (although the latter is not out of the realm of possibilities haha) even though those are pretty entertaining. Anyways, this is an oldie, but a goodie. The film shows its age, but the concept, story, action, characters, and fun one-liners make it a fun ride still to this day. The 4K transfer is the best this film has ever looked and the audio is nice as well. The steelbook is very nice both in terms of the artwork, finish, and the clear slipcover over it. I wish Best Buy released ALL their steelbooks with plastic slipcovers like this as they prevent scratches and dents on the steelbooks. Overall, this is a great purchase.

This movie has been remade with Colin Farrell in the starring role, but that one took itself far too seriously for my taste. This version, with its rollicking, comicbook-style action has always been my favorite, and not just because I enjoy looking at Schwarzenegger's pecks (though you have to admit that he made very nice eye candy). This has a storyline that is exciting and yet has its comic moments as well. Set in the distant future, a construction worker decides to follow his dreams and have the memory of a vacation on Mars implanted in his brain. Unfortunately, the implant procedure triggers memories that he is actually a spy for the Martian government, and he ends up running for his life while still trying to unscramble what's in his head. What follows is the most fabulous series of gloriously choreographed fight scenes, with hardly a breath between them, that has ever graced film. This was released well into Schwarzenegger's acting career, and shows in the polish and ease with which he brings off the character. It also costars Michael Ironside and Sharon Stone, both as agents for the Martian government that are after the erstwhile spy. This has a lot of violence as well as some light nudity, so it may not be suitable for younger viewers. But it is definitely a fun and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.
