The closest thing to monster hunter yet!

Toukiden is a game about killing demons, big monster looking demons that have been slowly eating the world which in turn disrupts the timeline. the game has a passable story, memorable characters and a decent length but the meat of the game is the monster hunter like missions where your job is to kill a giant monster to get it's parts. these parts upgrade or build new weapons/armor. the AI is surprisingly useful in the game, I played mostly solo and unlike most games the AI for your team isn't garbage. each character had a benefit and was worth taking for one reason or another, Nagi healed frequently for example. It's worth mentioning this is a remake+expansion to Toukiden: age of demons, which was a vita game. it has everything age of demons has but a whole lot more. the story starts a bit slow until you get to chapter 8 or 9 (hint, you have to do red missions to progress you don't have to do EVERY mission) this game is very fun with friends and online. there is a lot of monsters to kill rare drops to get, and weapons to craft. you can easily put 60 hours into the game with just single player. overall I would highly recommend the game, if you like monster hunter but want to play ps4 this is a great alternative.

This is one of my favorite games on ps4 at the moment. The combat is deep and complex, but you can ignore the complexity if you're looking for a simpler experience. The monsters, armor, and weapons are all really well designed, though at higher ranks you will start to see the same monsters, but reskinned and more aggressive with different attacks. The story is really interesting, it held my attention until the very end. Most of the characters have really sad stories. I also really loved the art style and could tell they put a lot of work into how it looked. All in all, you can get a lot of playtime out of this if you enjoy this type of game, and it's worth your money and time.

This is my first time playing this game out of the series, I believe there were a few more before this one came out. This game is good, but it could definitely be better. The fighting gets very very repetitive and there isn't enough customizations or different type of weapons to keep me going, this is in comparison to like Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. In those series, the stages, customization, upgrading, and weapons make up for the repetitive battles to the point where they don't feel repetitive. This game unfortunately doesn't have enough of any of those that I listed, so it's a good game, I stopped playing it though and the graphics look pretty, but this is a type of game I would trade in if I wasn't so lazy.

This is a great game. Some may find it a bit simplistic compared to monster hunter but this game has its own charm and unique attributes. The addition of spirits called mitama that'll actually give you unique abilities both active and passive is a nice addition. Overall this game has nice graphics, can be simple or complex depending on how deep you choose to go, satisfying fights, and a decent storyline. I would definitely recommend it

If you like the Monster Hunter titles, you will surely enjoy this. I personally enjoy the combat system more, and of course being on the PS4, the graphics are pretty good. There is some customization that adds to the overall gameplay, but if you have played Monster Hunter, you pretty much know what you are getting into. Definitely recommended if you are into that genre.

I was never a fan of Monster Hunter but I did enjoy this one a lot mainly due to the better cameras and it's faster pace imo. If you own a PS4 and love MH series, this is the closet thing you'll get from a MH game. Other than that, it's decent game. It's quite repetitive but other than that, its fun if you just want to kill time. Kinda feels like a Dynasty Warriors game but with monsters without tons of monsters filled on the screen.

    Monster Hunter lite version

Very similar to Soul Sacrifice and Monster Hunter, but with its own unique system for fighting and gathering resources. PS4 version looks great and doesn't feel like it's simply upscaled from Vita version. Story is a bit iffy, and mission areas could use some more variety, but it's more straightforward demon hunting rather than the complexity of Monster Hunter.

This game is in the Monster hunter and white knight chronicles mold. You can play solo but its so much more enjoyable with friends. You fight together to take down both large and small beasts.
