I got this on sale to replace my Google Wi-Fi mesh system. 4 units were able to cover same area that took 6 of the Google units. Also, I got ipv6 working for all my home devices, including unique public ips, which is great for my automation server. The only thing I miss is no built in speed tests(to main router and between nodes) like the Google had. Overall I would recommend it.

I was in a need of having a WiFi Mesh system which would give me the adequate coverage around the home and I’ve been using the Deco XM73 mesh system for a while now, and it has completely transformed the way I experience Wi-Fi at home. This 4-pack system, which includes three indoor units and one outdoor unit, covers my entire home with seamless and reliable internet, both indoors and outdoors. The Deco XM73 units come in a sleek white color that blends beautifully with my home decor. It has a minimalist, modern look that doesn’t stick out or clash with the furniture, making it a subtle yet stylish addition to any room. The speeds are incredible! With up to 5.4 Gbps, I’ve been able to stream 4K videos, engage in video calls, and play online games without a single glitch. Even when multiple devices are connected, the connection remains fast and smooth. This can cover up to 7,200 sq. ft. indoors and 2,900 sq. ft. outdoors, and hence I no longer have any dead spots. Whether I’m in the basement, the first floor, the second floor, or out in the yard, the Wi-Fi connection stays strong everywhere. It works the same even in the attic. This was exactly what I was looking for, to have uninterrupted coverage no matter where I am. My home has a lot of smart devices, and the Deco XM73 handles all of them without a hitch. I’ve connected more than 25 devices, from smartphones and laptops to smart TVs and home gadgets, and the network never slows down. It can support up to 150 devices, so I hope it will continue to be in use with increasing devices every year. Setting it up was super easy with the Deco app. I had everything up and running in just a few minutes, and the app allows me to manage and monitor the entire network effortlessly. I can even control it remotely, which has been really convenient and handy when deciding the kids online activities. The great thing is that the outdoor unit is weatherproof. Since I’ve mounted it in the backyard, it works perfectly rain or shine, and now I have strong Wi-Fi coverage outdoors for streaming music or working on the patio. The AI-powered mesh feature has been a lifesaver. It automatically connects me to the strongest signal, no matter where I move around in the house. I don’t need to worry about switching between networks, everything is seamless and automatic. The built-in HomeShield security has provided peace of mind. It protects all my devices and comes with great parental controls that let me monitor and manage my kids’ internet usage easily. All-in-all, after using the Deco XM73, I can confidently say it’s a fantastic solution for anyone needing fast, reliable Wi-Fi across a large area. The seamless setup, wide coverage, and smart features have truly improved my internet experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their home network!

I recently upgraded to the TP-Link Deco AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Indoor/Outdoor Whole Home Mesh System 4-Pack (Deco XM73), and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Setting up the Deco AX5400 was a breeze. The Deco app made the process incredibly simple, providing clear instructions and visual guides. I was able to get all four units set up in less than 20 minutes, and the app immediately recognized all the devices in my home. I didn't have to mess around with any complicated settings, which was a huge plus. The coverage is phenomenal. My house is about 2,900 square feet with two stories, and I’ve always had dead spots in the first floor and the far corners of the backyard. With the Deco XM73, those issues are completely gone. I now have fast, reliable Wi-Fi in every room, even outside on the patio. The speeds are impressive, and I haven’t noticed any slowdown, even with multiple devices streaming, gaming, and working from home simultaneously. I love the clean, modern design of the Deco units. They’re small enough to place almost anywhere without being an eyesore. The outdoor unit is rugged and weatherproof, and it’s great to have reliable Wi-Fi coverage outside, especially for backyard gatherings or working on the porch. The Deco app is one of the best I’ve used for a networking product. It’s user-friendly and provides a lot of control over the network. I can easily see which devices are connected, manage bandwidth, and set up parental controls. I also appreciate the ability to schedule Wi-Fi access for different devices, which is great for managing screen time for the kids. After installing this mesh system, I’ve experienced zero dropouts or connectivity issues. The system automatically switches devices between units as needed, maintaining a strong, stable connection throughout my home. The performance boost from Wi-Fi 6 is noticeable, with faster speeds and better handling of multiple devices compared to my old router. I can confidently say it’s worth every penny. The four-pack is perfect for covering a large area, and the performance and features justify the cost. It's a long-term investment that has significantly improved my internet experience at home. If you're looking for a reliable, high-performance mesh system that offers excellent coverage both indoors and outdoors, the TP-Link Deco AX5400 (Deco XM73) is a fantastic choice. It’s user-friendly, powerful, and perfect for anyone needing strong, consistent Wi-Fi throughout a large home or property. Highly recommended!

Internet for inside and outside your home

This is the best mesh network I have used. My prior two were an Orbi and Google mesh networks. I had so many issues with both of those that it somewhat put me off mesh networks. The orbi had poor performance and the google mesh had super slow speeds to the point it was unusable. The TP-Link mesh network is perfect for a normal not overly technical person. The setup was a breeze, just follow the instructions. Connecting the additional mesh devices was just plug in and they connected to the network without issue. So now I have coverage all through my house and now in my back yard with the outdoor unit. The speeds are very good and stay consistent anywhere in the house. The main reason this device is so good is due to the app. The app is well thought out and super easy to use. You can turn on or off the guest Wi-Fi and also setup a IoT network. This IoT network is very handy when you have tons of devices such as cameras, alarms, etc that do not need to be on the main network. This helps keep track of devices that should and shouldn't be on the network. There are so many features that you can use in the app. You can add a VPN client and server, isolate devices so they can only get to the internet and not tap into other devices on your network, and enable their security plus. You can also prioritize devices, so they do not experience slowdowns when the network is busy. There are some options and was to customize to make the network work for you The outdoor device seems well made and should handle the elements well. I decided to install mine under a covered patio. I didn't like the idea of letting it sit out in the Midwest elements (even though it should withstand them) when I have a covered porch that the device could be installed on. When setting up the outdoor unit be careful of the silicone ring when plugging the device in. This silicon ring if not set in place correctly could allow water to access the unit. I'm super happy with this mesh network as it just works, and it works very well. With our prior mesh network, we would experience slowdowns or even no service at times. We have fiber internet with 1gig download and upload, the slowdowns where due to the Wi-Fi just not working, but we no longer experience those issues.

As the years roll on, there is more and more dependence on a sound Wi-Fi experience. We look at our router and modem setup, like the electricity that runs it, and it should just work. We don't want to worry about hiccups or instability. I, for one, have used several different setups within the last 10 years because I'm constantly chasing that feeling of plugging it in and forgetting about it. Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect setup out there that's immune to hiccups - it's just a matter of how many hiccups there are. This TP-LINK Deco AX5900 is my newest attempt - with the added feature of backyard Wi-Fi. The TP-Link Deco AX5900 is a sleek, high-performance tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 6E system that delivers strong connectivity throughout your home. Thankfully, the setup is straightforward. It has a user-friendly Deco app directs you through installation and network management. This system offers outstanding speeds and has a 6 GHz band, 5 GHz band, and 2.4 GHz band. This provides smooth streaming, gaming, and browsing experiences even in homes with a high number of connected devices (TP-Link says up to 150!). Speeds up to 5.4Gps and includes a multi-gig 2.5 port for consistent speeds. My router is placed near our entertainment room TV, which has an Xbox, PS5, Switch Dock, Apple TV, Shield TV, and many more, plugged into a Gig port connected to the Deco. Everything works very well. The area where the Deco 5900 really excels is in its coverage. This setup covers over 7,000 square feet! This package includes an outside module for an excellent signal. For example, if you have a large backyard, you can go quite a ways from your home and still have coverage. We don't have an overly large backyard, but it's great to know the signal is so strong out there because we have Bluetooth speakers, a projector, and Wi-Fi lights that depend on a good signal. The tri- and connectivity reduces congestion and interference, providing a stable connection throughout your home. And it really does - no matter what walls we have between the nodes and the router, we get a stable connection throughout. Additional features include advanced protection with "HomeShield featuring IoT protection, cyber threat prevention, robust parental controls, and comprehensive reports," quality of Service (QoS) for prioritizing bandwidth, and WPA3 encryption for enhanced security. However, WPA3 encryption can be tricky when using some services (like Sonos, for example). Thankfully, you can revert to WPA2 if you'd like. The Internet of Things could be better, but we're slowly getting to the point where routers and modems can work together with whatever is thrown at them. An added bonus is the inclusion of Google Assistant or Alexa. It's nice to have that function, though it will hardly be used by our family due to the high number of devices that handle Google Assistant around the house. There are many options for router needs, and the Deco can be considered depending on what you're looking for. This package especially brings the added coverage you'll get outside - so if you're like my family, who spends a lot of time on the patio and backyard, this feature is appealing. The value is there, especially considering the prices for Wi-Fi 7 (which hasn't been implemented in many places yet), so I wouldn't worry about "future-proofing" when considering between Wi-Fi 6 and 7.

The TP-Link Deco AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Indoor/Outdoor Whole Home Mesh System is an amazing upgrade to the mesh WiFi we currently had in our home. Our home is approximately 2,900 square feet and about 2/3 of an acre of property. The addition of the Outdoor Deco unit has extended our WiFi to well beyond our property line. Initial Thoughts: The setup of the Deco mesh system was bumpy to say the least. The first Deco unit I set up took several tries to actually get the Deco app to find it. The same with the other two Deco units, though the outdoor unit connected almost instantly. Using the Deco Mesh System: The Deco Mesh system seamlessly provides ample WiFi coverage in our home and -- with the addition of the Outdoor Deco -- not only ample but FAST WiFi coverage well beyond our property line. I placed the Outdoor deco in our screened-in porch (for now) because I wanted to try different locations before committing to a mounting spot. I live in Minnesota and, with our harsh winters and often times hot and humid summers, I wanted to keep the Outdoor unit as safe as possible. Once the bumpy setup was complete, the system is great. Our wireless devices seamlessly connect to whichever Deco unit they are closest to. We have gigabit internet service, and I was able to get approximately 830mbps downloading and 740mbps uploading pretty consistently throughout our home. Outside, I at the very end of our property line, I was still able to get 550mbps downloading and 430mbps uploading. I would estimate that is probably about half a football field away from the Deco unit (at the furthest point). Even my neighbor was able to see our Outdoor Deco which is pretty phenomenal considering the distance between our homes. The Verdict: Be patient with setup. I consider myself to be pretty tech-savvy and struggled a bit. But, once up and running, the system does exactly what it's designed to do and offers such great range of coverage, especially with the Outdoor deco. For the first time in years, I was able to actually get all our "Smart" garage door openers to not only connect to WiFi but also get streaming video (something I was not able to do previously). So, if you run into issues with setup, the app guides you well both in-app and with links to helpful tips, tricks, and Q&A. Overall, aside from the bumpy setup, this is an awesome system, and I would highly recommend it -- especially if you're looking for a way to get all your gadgets to work inside and outside your home.

I've long struggled with getting sufficient WiFi coverage at my mother's home. It's long and narrow- and has some challenging site conditions that make installing SmartHome/IOT devices for her safety and convenience. The TP-Link AX 5400 Mesh product finally provided a reasonably-priced, highly reliable solution. The best feature is the exterior-grade node. It makes all the difference. Installation was super-easy- once I realized the names of the indoor and outdoor components were not "AX5400". They are actually the XM73 (indoor) and XM73-outdoor. My bad. Otherwise, the app provides a step-by-step, graphic and written set of instructions and confirmations. Deciding on locations to place each of the 4 nodes took longer than the installation process. Note that these are all powered devices, including the outdoor node, so you'll need to place them near power receptacles unless you are using PoE. The ethernet connections (one is needed to connect to your modem/router) are optionally used for more permanently located devices such as a camera, TV, or the like. The outdoor node is IP65 waterproof and dustproof. I found performance to be excellent. Dual-Band WiFi6 is offered, providing up to 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It's fast and seemed to be more stable than my older model. All the nodes repeat the WiFi name, so roaming in and outside of your space is seamless. Additional features controlled within the Deco app include "HomeShield". The manufacturer says this suite of services allows you to protect your devices at home or away. It actively scans your network for risks, offers Parental Controls to filter and limit time access to websites, and includes geofencing. Finally it touts Voice Control with the two big home assistants. I haven't tested what this actually means. Summing it up. Great product. Does more than the job.

Upgrading to the TP-Link Deco XM73 4-Pack Wi-Fi system really improved my home internet. Before, my Wi-Fi was slow and had dead zones in some rooms, but now it’s strong everywhere—even in the basement and backyard. Setting it up was easy. The Deco app helped me step by step. The outdoor unit was simple to install too, and it works great to spread Wi-Fi all over our yard. The Deco XM73 uses Wi-Fi 6, which makes my internet a lot faster. I get strong Wi-Fi in every part of the house, even in spots where my old router couldn’t reach. The coverage is really big—over 7,000 square feet inside and nearly 3,000 square feet outside. This system can connect to over 150 devices at once, which is perfect because we have lots of smart gadgets like lights, cameras, and TVs. The connection is always smooth, whether I’m watching videos, playing games, or talking on video calls. The AI-Driven Mesh is really cool too. It automatically connects my devices to the best signal as I walk around the house. So I don’t have to worry about losing connection. Security is important to me, and TP-Link’s HomeShield service gives good protection. It has parental controls and keeps our network safe. I can also control the system easily with the Deco app, even when I’m not home. Plus, it works with Alexa and Google Assistant, so I can use voice commands to manage my Wi-Fi. Overall, the TP-Link Deco XM73 4-Pack is a great buy if you need better Wi-Fi at home. This upgrade is worth it for the strong coverage and safety features. If you’re tired of slow internet or dead zones, this system is a good choice.

The TP-Link Deco AX5400 mesh WiFi system has a lot to offer. The main reason I got this kit was because I have a storm shelter room in the middle of my house which really messes with the reception of my router on everything on the far side of the house. This includes my living room, master bedroom, one other bedroom and my back yard. Figured this would be the perfect application for a mesh wifi system. Starting off with the build quality, I have no real complaints. The kit includes 3 indoor nodes and one outdoor node. The indoor nodes are relatively small and light, made out of a lighter weight plastic. On the back each node has 2 Gigabit ethernet ports and a power port. Setup was extremely easy with these. Probably the easiest setup I've had for any wireless system. I simply installed the app, followed the steps, and it was up and running 10 minutes later. It really was quite simple. On the app side of the house its very functional. I am use to having to manage my network through a local webpage on my computer, that is no longer the case. Instead, you need to do it through your mobile app. I don't know how I feel about that yet, with the web page service lacking any real control, but so far I have been able to do anything I wanted through my app. As long as DP Link continues to support the app it shouldn't be an issue. A few key things to point out about the software, at least in my setup, was that it didn't optimize the node pathing in my house. Whenever I added a node it simply connected directly to the main node even if it was the longest path. Fortunately its very easy to set the parent for each node in your house effectively creating a chain of them. The system is very smart about who needs to be connected to each node. As I move through my house with my systems, they dynamically switch to different nodes ensuring I have the strongest connection possible. The system also handles intranet routing very well. On other routers, you would typically put the ISP router into passthrough mode making the new router the net controller. Thats not the case with this. You plug this in as if its a child of the network and it creates its own subnet. One thing I was worried about with this was my home NAS. I was able to leave that plugged in to my main router, and everything on the mesh could still access it. Moving it to the mesh node, even though it was on a static IP setting, the NAS could still be reached (though the software didn't identify it as a client). Same thing happened with my 3d Printer. I didn't realize I hadn't connected it yet to the new wifi, and just continued using it like normal. I did notice it took longer for files to download to the printer, or to get updates in the software about its status, but the routing didn't outright fail and it continued to work. Pretty impressive. Now, a few complaints. These things are rated at up to 5400Mbps, but I've yet to be able to realize it. On my Gigabit internet, which wired provides anywhere from 900-1200Mbps, the highest I have been able to achieve with only 1 client on the network is 600Mbps and that is only 10ft from the node in the same room. On the child node of my main, across the house, it drops to 200Mbps. In my living room I found the wifi for the ISP router is still faster. But in the problem rooms in my house, the signal doubled up to about 300Mbps. So not perfect and I hope I can work with TP-Link to figure it out, but still much better service across my house. Additionally, I would like it if there was more ports on these routers. I like to keep my desktop wired, but with only 2 ports on this router that isn't going to be an option unless I relocate my NAS to another node. Its a minor gripe, but still inconvenient. Finally, the outdoor node (which I haven't had a chance to install yet) comes with mounting hardware, but the indoor nodes do not. So with whats included in the box you're stuck placing them on shelves or end tables which is another inconvenience. It would be perfect for me if I could place one in my stairwell above my storm shelter room, but without a mounting option that won't work. Overall very happy with this kit. It solved the problem I was having with the poor signal on the far side of the house, while still allowing me to use the faster router on the near side and keep connectivity for all my devices.

This is a really great mesh system, especially because it comes with the outdoor antenna. For starters, the outdoor antenna is waterproof super easy to install. I mean you could put it up on a post or just leave it anywhere and we have it on one side of our house and we pick up the Internet all around the entire house from this device very cool. Inside the house I find the Wi-Fi six isn’t as fast as I was hoping for so I upgraded to the next version of this set up in Wi-Fi seven however the coverage was fantastic and if you’re not as concerned with speeds within the house device to device I don’t think this is necessary. To go to Wi-Fi seven however, if you’re dealing with Internet speeds of 5 GB or more, I think going to seven is a better move.

I recently upgraded to the TP-Link Deco AX5400 Indoor/Outdoor Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System, and it has completely transformed my home network experience. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this system was a serious upgrade over my old router setup. The package includes three indoor units and one outdoor unit. Each unit is equipped with two gigabit ports, which is a fantastic feature for those needing to hardwire certain devices like aa hue bridge in my case, or even a security monitoring system. The outdoor unit, which also comes with two gigabit ports, supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), making installation outside hassle-free since you only need one cable for both power and data if you do not have a strong enough wireless connection. I was able to simply just plug in the outdoor unit and it connected automatically to the network and was instantly up and running. Setting up the system was a breeze, thanks to the Deco app. The app guided me through each step with clear instructions and visuals, making it easy even for someone who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. What really impressed me, though, was the app itself. It’s super user-friendly and intuitive, offering a wealth of monitoring and control settings. I was able to see all the connected devices, manage their bandwidth, and tweak various internet settings with ease. It’s a level of control and visibility I never had with my previous routers. Once the system was up and running, the difference in my internet experience was night and day. For the first time, I’m actually getting the full bandwidth speeds up to the 1 gig that I’m paying for. With my old router setup, there were always dead spots and weak connections, but the Deco AX5400 has completely eliminated those issues. The coverage is seamless throughout my entire home, and the outdoor unit has extended that coverage into my backyard, ensuring a strong, reliable signal no matter where I am. The mesh system works flawlessly, with devices seamlessly switching between units as I move around the house. There’s no more buffering or lag when streaming videos, playing online games, or even when multiple devices are connected and in use simultaneously. The stability and speed of my internet connection are beyond anything I’ve experienced before. Overall, I’m incredibly impressed with the TP-Link Deco AX5400 system. It’s not just about the coverage or the speed, but the overall quality and user experience that makes this system stand out. The Deco app provides so much control and insight into my network that it feels like a completely new world of possibilities has opened up with my newfound internet speeds. If you’re looking to upgrade your home network, this system is worth every penny.

I have spectrum. I combined this with an Arris S34modem and it is mind blowing! I am getting 750 to 920 Mb on my Iphone!! Direct cable connection is solid 970 Mb! I only have a 1Gb line so it is maxed out! I have over 30 devices connected from Ring to Blink to lights and it stays the same andbis not adjusting for the weakest link. I am totally impressed. And can only recommend this match up. FYI i could not even get 500 Mb until I changed the modem to the Arris. Then it was maxed!

I’ve grown accustomed to using Netgear products until I started experiencing dead zones and occasional disconnections. Eventually, I convinced myself it was time to switch brands and try a mesh system. I became very familiar with the TP-Link/Kasa brand after switching from Wemo smart devices. So, after comparing the different TP models, I decided that this configuration better suited my needs—reliable coverage and streamable speeds. Setting up the units, completing the software updates, and turning on the guest network took only 30 minutes or less. The coverage indoors and outdoors is incredible. I can definitely notice the quality difference whenever I check my smart cameras. One thing to note, you can’t split the 2.5/5 GHz bands unless you create a separate network. The speeds on the main and guest networks are the same unless you restrict the speeds within the app settings. I’m currently satisfied with the product and will update this review if my experience changes over time.

Super easy setup, intuitive and fast. App is good, network runs flawlessly. Have set up two of these in the last month and both run very well (one with the outdoor unit which works nicely). Don't forget to turn on Fast Roaming so you take advantage of the mesh as you mobile devices move in and out of radio zones. Port forwarding is pretty easy too.

Great deal on this mesh system that's a bit behind in tech. More capability that most of my equipment and fiber line. I get 200-300 Mbps over 100 feet in my back yard. Connects to doorbell camera that kept dropping with my 2 router system.

It was able to extend our wifi to where we needed it to reach. When we bought it the sales person said it might be close, but reached just fine.
