You will need a PIE device to power this. I bought a POE Switch to powr and run my internet connection to this device. Very happy with my purchase.

I have it in my garage mounted to a pole using the ties. Looks pretty slick and comes with a bunch of waterproofing content in case I wanted to move it outside. And so far my connection is strong all throughout my house and into my yard

WORTHLESS SECURITY - Avoid at all costs

Purchased the device and then the optional Security+. Spoofed IP addresses are getting right through the Deco and devices are being brute-force attacked. Tech Support was a complete waste of time. DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE.

Inconvenient and hard to set up

Thank you for your review. If your existing Wi-Fi router is not a Deco Mesh Wi-Fi System, you will need to connect the Deco X50-Outdoor to your LAN via Ethernet. As for the new home Wi-Fi network, we suggest installing the Deco X50-Outdoor in Access Point Mode and assigning it the same Wi-Fi name and password as your existing router for convenient and seamless connectivity for your wireless devices.

I had to call TP-Link support and level 1 engineer created an RMA for replacement. The replacement still didn't work so I ended up calling level 2 engineer. That person had to download new firmware for the wireless functionality.
