An alternative Smartphone at a lower cost

For those seeking a lower-cost Smartphone, the LG Rebel L44VL is a good alternative that uses TracFone's pre-paid service. I've used TracFone for 23 years with very few problems, although I don't rely solely upon my cell phone, maintaining a landline at home. The Rebel has the usual features and each works quite well, and it is certainly less expensive to purchase and to use. Add an SD memory card for extra storage of photos though.

GREAT PHONE FOR KIDS

I bought this phone for my kids to have. Parents, it looks and works just like any other top of the line android phone but doesn't cost as much. I did have to buy a case to hide the tracfone logo on the back of the phone. Also doesn't have a lot of memory for downloading a lot of apps, and the picture quality isn't the best either. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars. It's great for kids because if they break it or lose it, it doesn't cost that much to replace and you simply have to call tracfone customer service to switch your phone number, data, and minutes to the new phone.

Great if you need a phone for mostly just voice calls, some email, calendar. Camera is nothing special, fine for throw-away shots, not for treasured memories. For $20 Black Friday, it was a steal.

Tracfone Rebel

I had a really terrible phone and was so happy to get the LG Rebel. I had a 4gb sd card which is needed to put apps on the phone. My only complaint is that when apps are updated I have to manually move them to sd card. Maybe because I don't know how to to it another way. This phone satisfies my smart phone requirement and also I really like the triple minutes when I buy a Tracfone card. I was able to easily transfer my minutes from old phone to the new LB Rebel.

Adequate Memory; So So Screen

I bought this phone because it had about 8 GB of memory (apart from the Micro SD card). After the OS, there is about 3+GB left for running apps, which is sufficient for my needs.
The screen is not as accurate as I'd like. It often selects the character under the button I press ... Even using a stylus.
It's otherwise a nice phone for the price.

Serious activation issues, poor reception

Serious activation issues which involved an unproductive and useless return to the store, 3 days and many calls and hours on hold with Tracfone. In the end persistence paid off and Tracfone gave up the battle and activated the phone. I live in a fringe area so when at home I have calling issues with most all Verizon based phones. I have had many different Tracfone models and I have to say this this particular model is among the worst of them for reception 2nd only to the LG Dynamic. It loves to connect to the roaming "pay" network and request a pin. The camera takes pretty good quality images in bright daylight, forget inside or night time photos and the front camera is horrid ! Other than that, when I am within close range of a Verizon tower it is a great phone. Battery life is decent, I can leave it on the desk for a few days without charging. If these things dont concern you then it'll likely be a decent phone especially @ the $19 sale price and I would recommend it.

I'm hearing impaired and thought I would try to use a cell phone after years of not having one. I had problems setting it up and wished BB would have offered help with this phone but I was told I was on my own. When having problems the programmed message over the phone wasn't understandable. I think it will be a good phone once I get it set up.

Best phone I ever owned

After years of owning an AT&T cell phone and paying in excess of $40 a month for 100 minutes, I finally made the switch over to TracFone. Now I pay $10 a month for 150 minutes, which is all I ever use The transmission is better, I never have a dropped call, I can download apps, I can block calls and I can take notes and pictures. What more do you want? It works just like a fancy iPhone without the price. You can use a 32 gig card to expand the memory and you're in business. And the best part is no contract. Last time I had an AT&T phone they made me suffer for two years with a cheap phone that finally was lost in the Tsunami. Never again.

Excellent Phone for Pokemon Go

I bought this as an upgrade for an existing Tracfone/Android phone that would not run Pokemon Go. It works so good that I had to purchase two more for my children so they could also play Pokemon Go. It is a standard design shape so cases and screen protectors are available online in many styles. If you are a current or future Tracfone user then I highly recommend this phone.

She was very apprehensive at first, but now she is sending text messages all day long! She loves the clarity of the phone, the way it is laid out and the feel of it. Going from a flip phone to this was a giant technology step for her, but she is doing just fine and the User's Guide at LG gave her all the info she needed to set it up, (with a little help from yours truly) and she is happy with it very much!

I got this for Tracfone which I like because it works well for me. I like the quad core processor and 1gb of ram, but the phone comes on by itself a lot. I can put it in my shirt pocket and the next thing I know, I'm ordering something online without realizing it. It just comes on when it wants to. I can't duplicate it so I don't know how to stop it.
It also makes a person's voice fade when I'm talking to someone. It sounds like the person is moving their phone in and out. At first I thought it was on their end, but it happens with everyone. I liked my old Samsung better, but it had flaws, too. I guess you get what you pay for.

I bought this phone for my son's 12th b-day. This is his first smart phone and it has been great so far. He is able to access everything his friends do on their phones that cost hundreds more than this one. The best part for me is that if something should happen to the phone(broken or lost) it is not very expensive and can easily be replaced. The Tracfone family plan is also very affordable & when he runs out of minutes there are no extra fees. I highly recommend this phone and the Tracfone plan.

This is the perfect phone for someone looking for a full featured phone (calls, text, data) in a nice package for a very affordable price. Certainly not near the highest end phones on the market, but great for someone looking for a fully functional inexpensive phone.

Perfect starter Smart Phone for my elderly mom

My mom had an old school flip Trac Phone that she'd used for years. I bought her the Trac Phone smart phone after her recent stroke in order to install a "fall" app on her phone. She also has a one button set up for "911" which makes calling for help really easy--the GPS feature on the phone can help rescue personnel locate my mom if she's unable to speak. These features make her feel more secure while I'm at work. She didn't like the change at first, but she is really getting used to it now and enjoying all its features. She loves having her banking at her fingertips too. :)

Gave this to a relative in a very rural area. Upon initial set up signal strength was good for their area and browser didn't have any problems with bringing up web sites. Easy to navigate settings. It's one of the last phones that will triple minutes on a phone card. Relative was very pleased with it.
