Make sure that you keep the blast effects, the translucent blue weapon effects and the Matrix, off of any painted surfaces as well as any other material like silicone and materials with plasticizers in it such as rubber/latex, PVC, TPR/TPE, If the translucent blue plastic pieces touch those types of materials and/or paint, it will trigger a chemical reaction which will speed up the material breakdown of the blast effects which will cause them to absorb and start melting/bonding. The natural oil found on your skin will also cause the breakdown as will any other type of oil which includes rubbing alcohol. This is true for all blast effects, not just the ones that come with Hot Rod. With that warning out of the way, let's talk about Hot Rod. The vehicle mode body panels the robot head, the robot arms, and the robot pelvis are all the wrong colour. Those should all be magenta. This Hot Rod is more accurate in colour than any previous toy but, it's still not the correct colour. This colour issue is my largest complaint with the toy. The rest of the toy is fantastic. It tries to mimic the more complex transformation seen late into the Transformers animated movie from 1986 instead of the more simplistic ones seen earlier in the film. The articulation is fantastic and both the robot and vehicle modes are phenomenal. The main complaints around this toy are about: The faux chest, it doesn't use the actual hood/bumper/headlight to form the chest. There isn't a way to have the hood and the chest proportional in both modes because the animation cheated and made the hood shrink in width for the chest and expand in width for the vehicle mode. You're not going to see something like that on general release item at a lower price point due to the complex hinge assembly and tolerances that would be needed. That hinge system also didn't exist in the animation, the hood literally just stretched out and shrank like it was made of rubber. Both the hood and the faux chest wind up in the areas they should be in in both robot and vehicle modes so, they tried to keep the cheating to a minimum. Not being able to see the feet/legs from the rear view of the vehicle mode since there isn't a rear bumper nor taillights. The exposed feet/legs at the rear of the vehicle mode is disappointing but, it's likely due to budgetary restrictions. Hopefully, an aftermarket company creates a gap filler for it but, I stopped noting this flaw once Hot Road started zooming around in vehicle mode. Being small for a voyager sized toy but, this is due to the complexity and the parts count. This toy would have been terrible at the $19.99/$22.99 price point and it wouldn't have looked anywhere near as nice as it does. 10/10 will buy again if there is a magenta version to match the animation in the 1986 movie.

Excellent detail in this Transformers. This Autobot is one of the easier to transform and the pieces are well-built so it does not require much force to twist and turn them into place. I like the colors and the build quality.

Transformers “Hot Rod” based on the 1980’s animated movie is highly detailed with accurate details and conversion. A great collectible for Transformers fans, old and new. Good job, Hasboro!

This figure brings back so many memories of the movie. The fact that he can hold the matrix of leadership just like in the movie makes this the perfect figure. Love it!

The toy is a new release that my nephew wanted so i got it for his birthday. He loved it!
