Performances are solid, especially Cranston, and John Goodman and Stephen Root have fun supporting roles that are reminiscent of the roles they often play in Coen brothers films, but the script was lacking and the feel of the movie was all over the place. One scene was comic, the next dramatic, the next had the factual feel of a biopic, then back again. The sympathy was correctly placed in the film, but the communists were presented as being the reasonable, logical ones, instead of simply the usual capitalism=evil Hollywood mantra we've come to expect. I thought that was a step too far.

Bryan Cranston is one my favorites from Malcom in the middle , Breaking Bad, Cold comes the Night. Cant wait to catch one of his live broadway shows.

This movie plays a little like a documentary and reminds me of "Ali". It has the same feel. Good story. Good acting. Overall I found the story interesting and enlightening.
