This head set starts off great but doesn't last. Within a couple of month you start having problems. Then you can't hear your friend when your playing.

    LOVE THEM!!

I play a lot of different types of games so I think that I can provide a pretty decent review. Before I purchased these headphones I did quite a bit of research, and I was pretty set on buying the new Skullcandy Wireless headphones. These TB's are very comfortable and I have a very small head and they don't fall off like other pairs I tried on. The sound is AMAZING. It is better than the speakers on the TV, I am even going to look at connecting them to the TV. I have played COD: Black Ops II and the sound during the multiplayer is fantastic, you can really hear everything from the explosion of a grenade, reloading of a magazine, and the most important footsteps of someone coming up behind you. I have to wear headphones at night if I want to play because the walls in our house are very thin and will wake up my husband and these definitely do the trick, I have not had any problems yet and I hope I don't. I am glad I bought them.

    Good Headset

I chose a wireless headset due to not wanting cords running all over my floor. I think this was a good purchase. The sound is not quite as good as wired headsets, but the trade-off for the cords was worth it. The batteries drain quickly so you may want some rechargeable ones. Overall, I got what I needed with this purchase. I have had them for a while and they are still going strong.

    Great headset, Replacing my x12

These are great headsets, don't get me wrong, the only thing I complain about so far is the small ear cup size, my x12 are bigger, and fit me perfectly, but the x42's tradeoff is the small ear cup size, even when I got these for 109.99 with a premier member coupon, I still think that the ear cups could've been bigger than what they packed in these, other than that, quality is amazing, and sound is great, just wished that they could have reduced the noise and pull up the footsteps and important factors that matter on FPS games, like CoD...

Wireless Surround sound for my XB1

    Posted .

After getting the XB1, I was looking for a good headset to replace my X41s. The X41s were known to pop and the 2.4ghz transmitter would interfere with Wifi signals and I couldnt take the popping anymore. The XO4 and XO7 were good alternatives, but as of now they only provide stereo sound. They might sound good but Im used to 7.1 surround sound (simulated) and I didnt want to go back to stereo. So I found the 5.1 surround sound X42s. I like they have 2.4ghz and 5ghz so they dont interfere with Wifi signals, very little to no popping and best yet they are cheaper than the XO7. The X42s have bass and treble boosts adjustment and the X42s have surround sound adjustment so you can change the amount of surround sound.. either wide or a narrow cone of sound... Overall the sound is good, not as good as the X41s, but they do sound good and the chat is clear and also adjustable. There has been complaints about the build of the headset. They are not meant to be thrown, so if you take care of your headset, there is no reason why this set cant last your for years to come. They do come a few problems... 1., Round ear cups... I have never seen anyone with perfectly round ears before. 2. If using with XB1, you will need to play with the adjustment a little bit. If you hear an echo its not the headsets fault. 3. The sound lacks mid range. I dont know if its the game's audio but as of now, I feel like they lack mid range. 4. buy rechargable batteries. Overall, Im happy with my purchase. I have wireless surround sound with my XB1 and it didnt cost me $200.

i love these. light on my head. ears don't sweat. no buzzing like the next step down ones. the only issues that i have with TB's is the talk back cord. they are cheep and break fast. you can buy them on TBs website but I should not have to. I like best buy for the warranty. I suggest highly to purchase the waranty with best buy for any game headseat. we are really careful with our and don't have much problems besides the talk back cord. i love being able to listen to tv as well when everyone is asleep in surroud sound!

The Turtle beach X42 earforce headsets are definetly one ofthe mostcomfertable headsetsand one of the most reliable headsets i have ever bought. The only con I could come up with is the battery life, dont talk to loud and keep the volume low.

A decent wireless headset from TB.

I purchased this headset (in store) when COD Ghosts released (pre-ordered and was there to pick it up) to enable me to play well into the night and not disturb my wife & kids (we have a 7.1 Klipsch Synergy system w/ a Yamaha Receiver, easily vibrates the house when turned up). - Setup was easy, and took less than 10 min from box to usage. - Audio is excellent with these headsets (when it worked) as the DD audio allows your ears to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. (i.e.: behind or slightly to the left of your soldier) - Range is decent, though it will completely static out if I wear the headset to the kitchen which is on the other side of the living room wall. - Mic is sensitive (just like all TB headsets), which is a blessing and a curse all in the same package. You can talk softly and your teammates can easily hear you. The downside is they can easily pick up background noises and keep the mic channel open, flooding your teammates with useless "noise". - After just over 30 days of usage, the audio would cut out momentarily while in a game, which in COD can get you killed easily. I went to TB's website and did every step they recommended and to no avail. I decided to return them and I am looking at either a T.B. XP400 or "Turtle Beach - Call of Duty: Black Ops II Ear Force Tango Limited Edition Headset" as the replacement for this one. - I would recommend, just be aware that the audio "disconnect" while in game is an issue I found online with multiple accounts on TB's forums. Not saying it will happen...just it is a possibility.

    Phenomenomal Sound!!!!

As a professional gamer, and A-1 sound engineer, I was skeptical about these headphones. I read my reviews, and finally broke down and got them. Man, did I make a GREAT decision! U can hear footsteps from a mile away on Modern Warfare 3! U can hear bullets whiz by your head, and you can even hear the leaves falling next to you on Liberation in multiplayer!!! Watching blurays and Nascar on my 50" tv with this headset on is BETTER than going to the movies!!! These are a MUST HAVE for any fps gamer or movie watcher!!! My kdr ratio on MW3 has skyrocketed, and I win nearly EVERY event and match that I enter! Don't listen to any bad reviews! I've had for 6 months now, and NO problems! Just take care of them, and you will have the time of your life! Maybe even call into work every once in a while!!! Please friends... BUY and ENJOY!!!

They were a solid headset, good sound, pretty comfortable, but after a few months of off and on use, they just didn't work anymore. I used them, turned them off, came back 4 hours later, and they didn't turn on. Pretty disappointed. Also, you'll burn through an unbelieveable amount of AAA batteries.

This headset is for my wife, she HAS to have a wireless set due to pets running around the house. This will be the second set of Turle beaches that have tried. The first couldnt over come the wireless network adapter and never connected to the base. THey both were running at 2.4GHz. We went with a logitech headset the was great except the Xbox voice chat wire kept breaking and you would lose the ability to communicate with your team/friends. We got the X42, because they were a great price - someone forgot to pull an old tag. Now they will not connect to the headset no matter how many times you try to re-pair it to the base. She is very careful with things. To those that said that these were hard to install, you need to RTFM and then realize that it was a 10T error. These had to be the EASIEST headset to get hooked up, if you hooked them to an Xbox. Off to exchange these for the headset I recommended she get in the first place, XP400. Hopefully, these last longer than 2 months.

This headset is great when it has good battery and you don't have to resynch it. Sounds are realistic. Cons though: If you hear the battery beep CHANGE THEM IMMEDIATELY of you will be treated and your friends will be partial to the most obnoxious whining/static sound you have ever heard.

Was not at all satisfied with my purchase of the X42's. I purchased to use with my XBOX for gaming. The clarity on the headphones was tremendous - but too much. During gaming, the back ground sound was so much it covered up what you really needed to hear. Things that were happening close to you - such as footsteps, reloading sounds etc were drowned out. Tried all of the different settings & could not get what I wanted. If using only for music, movies or such, I would strongly recommend, but for gaming - no. Ended up with the X41's

I got this headset for Christmas 2012, and it's amazing. The only thing that's a let down is the top of my head starts to hurt, even with the comfy looking band. Also, this works on the PS4, and as far as I've read around, works on everything with a optical output. Happy gaming.
