I was looking for a comfortable, quality built, good sounding, wireless headset. I partially found it in the Ear Force PX4. The sound quality is good and is not too bass-y as a lot of gaming headsets. They included all the cables in the box, including an optical audio cable, which is nice. The problem with the headset is that it is massively uncomfortable to wear because of the strong clamping force and the abrasive ear muffs. I could never, and still cannot, find a position where they do not hurt. Even after over a month of burn in, stretching them out by leaving an object in between them (back of a chair, etc), they retain their clamping force. They also put pressure unevenly because the cuff swivel is very hard, and will not adjust to your head. This means you have to manually adjust them till you find something that is not too terrible of a position. I debated returning them just because of how terribly uncomfortable they are for me, but after some time, the pain dulls, and you forget about it while playing. I still fiddle all the time with them trying to find a better position. The issue is that there are really no good wireless headsets / headphones for under $300, so I decided to keep them, stretch them out some more, and hope for the best. The fact that you can use them on the PC and the PS4 was what swayed my decision to keep them. For a detailed list of pros and cons, see below: The Good: - Great sound, clear even at loud volumes, not too bass focused as many gaming headsets. - Battery life - it states 15 hours and it gets that and then some. I got nearly 40 hours on my first charge. I don't even know how. The second and successive ones were closer to 20-25. - The mic is removable, which is great for when you just want to listen to audio. It is otherwise in the way of buttons when not used and aimed upwards. - There are 4 pre-set equalizer modes which mean you can quickly switch based on what you are listening to. - The noise limiter function keeps audio levels similar, so you won't have a particular sound destroy your ears. - Build quality is actually much better than what a lot of online videos state it is. They feel sturdy and nothing feels like it will snap off. The power button is a bit loose, so if thrashing around you can hear it move a bit. - All the cables you need, including a long optical audio cable, are included in the packaging. A very nice touch. - Decent range on them, better than expected, even through thick walls. The angle of the receiver and the one of the headset do matter a lot though. The Bad: - Just plain bad comfort. - The ear muffs are made out of a mesh made with some really bad material. It's not only harder than it should be by a mile (you can move the cuff without it deforming nearly at all) but it is quite abrasive. This is especially bad because you cannot seem to find a comfortable position with this headset. - The clamping force is about 2-3x as much as I would like it to be, making them painful to wear for even brief periods of time, yet the headset still wobbles about on your head. I have a normal head, so it should not be applying so much pressure, but it literally hurts only after 10 minutes of wearing it. - You constantly try to adjust the headset, the ear cuff can swivel a bit, but they do not adjust to your head. You have to manually adjust, try on, feel where they put too much pressure, then re-adjust. Because of the abrasive ear muffs, this irritates your skin around the ear. - It might be because I have a normal to a bit smaller head than average, but I felt like they are constantly pinching beneath my ear, on a pressure point. Very uncomfortable. - To use the mic with a PS4 you will have to plug in the cable to the headset and to the ps4 controller. Not a huge deal, still an annoyance. Sony has said that in a future update this will be patched to work directly via bluetooth, but for now, we wait. - You will have to use bluetoothm with a separate and not provided bluetooth dongle if you want your PC to use the headset mic. This is VERY not cool, as it could have been sent by the usb cable that powers the receiver. (The receiver has an optical out, but I am 80% sure it does not output mic audio)

Not Worth The Money At ALL!

So here is my experience so far. I wanted to get good headsets for a good value. What I decided to do was to test out what the best possible headsets in the market (A40 astros) sound like and then compare them to these, which I was planning to purchase before getting anything. Now, it's obvious that the difference is going to be large given that the astros are $270 with tax and these are about $160, however, after using both, the difference between the two far exceeds the $110 difference. PX4 are really bad for the price and I should have listened to everyone else. The PX21 are probably better than these headsets in terms of quality. They are loud but the quality is not good FOR THE PRICE. If the price tag was $90 then these would be perfect! As for the compatibility, it actually WILL Work with the mac without the sound card, but you have to connect it using the 2.5 to 3.5 jack. HOWEVER, IT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Even worse than when connected to ps4. WORST THAN $20 HEADSETS. The only way to get the true quality is with the Dolby card, which costs more money. If you are going to get the card, might as well just get astros. So now now i am stuck with $160 headsets that only work with my gaming console and it has to be connected to the controller until the update is released. It works wired (not wireless without a sound card for Mac) but the quality is very bad (to the point where videos will simply not output any sound at all and you have to put the volume on your computer up/down in order for it to work for about 30 seconds... then you have to repeat the process... but the quality sucks regardless and audio will cut out literally every 10 seconds). I noticed the same issue on ps4 as well, however, that disappeared once I put the audio output to be "chat only" and not "all audio". However, on chat only, the volume will come from both the headset and your T.V, which means you have to put the t.v down to 0 volume. This is already asking for too much for $150. I will say this though, the footsteps are very easy to hear on these headsets and when the wireless functionality is released on the ps4 update, these will be some pretty decent headsets, but still not worth the price tag. As for the astros, they where amazing but I can't pay that much for headsets. On the mac with surround, I honestly thought I was in heaven . Id buy it just to listen to music because it's that good, but might as well just buy regular headphones for music.

I bought these for use with my Xbox One for those late night gaming sessions and occasional movie watching. The set doesn't specifically designate it works with the Xbox One but you can make it work. There is an optical out on the rear of the Xbox One that you will use to hook up the headset module to. I have my Xbox One setup using HDMI for normal sessions but when late at night I go into the Xbox One settings and change the HDMI Audio to Off, Optical Audio to Bitstream Out, and lastly change the Bitstream Format to Dolby Digital From DTS Digital Surround Sound. Once I do that I power up the headset and I am good to go. Overall I think the headset is very comfortable and the sound quality is great. You have to play with the different surround sound and tone settings though to get the best experience based on if you are gaming or watching a movie. You can bing or google to see what people recommend. Quality appears to be good and the battery life has been great. My longest session has been about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs with no discomfort or loss of battery life. I believe it is rated for 12 hrs of use. It does make the connecting tone one time a few minutes after I turn them on but it hasn't disconnected yet on me and I haven't experienced any issues. For the price I got these when they were on sale it was a great deal. They filed the need I had and have performed very well on each occasion. I can't speak for the mic on them because I don't usually like to chat with other people when gaming online and it requires an additional adapter to use. If I had one complaint it would probably only be that I can't remove the mic. I just have it pushed up and it doesn't really bother me that much when gaming. If you can snag a pair of these for under $100 I would definitely recommend them but not if you are in the $150 to $200 range there are others out there with a lot more features and sound field sertings.

I bought these so i could play late night without bothering everyone in my house. I must say I regret not buying these earlier. I saw them go on sale and jumped on it. Pros: -First off, the sound quality is amazing. You can hear sounds you never even knew existed that you couldn't hear through your tv speakers. I primarily play Cod Ghosts and you can clearly hear peoples footsteps and the best part is since they are surround sound you can pin point the direction as well. I always wondered how people knew I was creeping up on them until i heard how loud the footsteps really are through theses headphones. -The fact that they are wireless (except for ps4 chat) and can last up to about 15 hours of constant use is amazing. I feel that I charge them like once a week if that. You can hear yourself through the mic into the headphones so you're not yelling loud when your in chat. Cons: - No bluetooth connectivity for ps4!! Whats up with that, Sony?! Yes, I know they want people to buy their Sony headphones....hopefully they fix that soon. You can, however, connect to ps3 with chat bluetooth no problem as I have both systems. With ps4 you have to connect the headphones via the cable provided to the controller to be able to chat in game. not a huge problem though. - Connecting to ps4 during first set up can be challenging as the instructions provided didn't help much so I had to go to turtle beach website and they have more in-depth instructions including what sound settings to set for the audio output. Overall I couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you are still debating on getting these, do yourself a favor and buy them. You won't regret it.

These headphones are not PS4 ready and the PS4 is not ready for these headphones. I've had two pairs of these in about a week. The first pair went sour in about 3 days when the usually great sounding headphones were overcome with a loud and annoying buzzing sound. Exchanged them for my current pair and they are just too high maintenance for the money. I find myself continuously resetting the transmitter and repairing these headphones because I either have no sound or the sound is cutting in and out. Also if you want the mic to work you have to plug them into your controller, so it is not completely fair to call these headphones wireless. At this point I'm am going to return these headphones. I advise anyone in the market to wait patiently as Sony deals with bugs and provides updates so headphones can be properly used for the system. It will be much more rewarding to the gamer if you wait for properly compatible headphones for the PS4. I give the 2 stars solely because the sound was amazing when the headphones worked properly. I could hear people creeping up on me from behind in shooters and the surround sound was awesome. The hard thing was, though, you have to get them to work and reset everything often which becomes quite annoying when you're mid-game in a match and the sounds stop or become choppy. Don't buy. Be patient.

I bought this headset as someone I play with on COD: Ghosts highly recommended a pair of Turtle Beaches as you can hear the direction everyone is coming from. Pay in mind I already had 5.1 surround sound and the left and right surround sound speakers positioned on both sides of the couch. I played one round in Ghosts before going back to my surround sound. The sound was clear however the problem is the headset makes everything sound as if it's happening 5 feet behind you when it's not. Needless to say I returned the headset. A couple weeks later I thought I'd give them another chance as I literally only played one round with them. After setting up the headset again (did discover I didn't have them completely set up correctly the first time as I left my sound output to HDMI and not the digital out). I thought this may correct my previous sound "depth" issues I experienced the first time around. However it didn't. People and gunshots still came from places that they couldn't - outside the map boundaries, in walls, etc. Maybe I had the headset on backwards so the left sound was going in the right ear??? I didn't see any markings distinguishing between L & R. So the second pair is being returned as well and I'll stick with my speaker surround sound. And who wants to leave to have to switch audio settings back and forth between digital out and HDMI when not using the headset. Maybe this headset would be great fro someone without surround sound already or needs a quiet environment to play in. Everyone speaks highly of Turtle Beaches but I wasn't impressed. Save your $150.

This pair of headphones could have easily gotten five stars, but the following are my reasons for giving it a three star rating: 1) The headset was not the easiest to setup. I was expecting at the least, plug, and play, but I had to set it up with much more concentration. 2) My difficulty in setting up the product had to do with the fact that the product's instruction manual did not include a setup for the Playstation 4 console, which is weird because this was advertised for this specific console. 3) For it to be advertised as "wireless", I felt like I had to connect a bunch of cables/wires from my console to the transmitter box, and if I was going to use the mic, I'd have to connect it to the actual console controller. This is not truly wireless. I thought I was going to be able to sync this via-bluetooth and start playing. CONCLUSION: I would have given this a five star, but with the troubles I had gone through last night just to set it up, I was not happy about. However, to be fair, the headset did have excellent sound quality, button placement/volume knob is good, the weight of the headphones are good, and I don't feel like I have a vise grip on my head (I have a big head haha). So I did highlight the negatives in the beginning, but I would definitely recommend this, but just know that it is not completely wire free.

I was looking for a headphones for my PS3 for movies, and games. I really love this. These wireless headphones are really good to use. The setup is really easy which is plug the wired connector to the front of the PS3 then put the optical plug into the back of the PS3. Then connect the wire for the headphones and charge in the PS3 until fully charge which I did for about a couple of hours. The sound is really good. The sound makes it seem like you are inside the game or movie. You don't need to put the volume up a lot for these headphones to work. The headphones work like sound cancelers which are nice when you live with others and don't want to be disturbed or when others don't want to be disturbed during night. The only thing which I don't know is how long to charge up the headphones. For there is no indicator or in the instructions telling you how long to charge. The only thing which happens which I know it might do with others headphones after a while your ears get tired after two to three hours. The headphones themselves are very comfortable and it feels like you don't want to take them off. The headphones last for a long time. I use these for up to a couple of hours a night and bought these like a month ago but yet I only need to charge it once which is really nice. I was playing with my brother with the mic and he heard me. So I believe the sound of the mic is really good to use. The only thing is I didn't play with others who had their mics on so I don't know what the results are for others to listen too.

I bought this headset because I heard playing video games was great with surround sound headsets. Initially I saw that they can get very expensive. When I came across the PX4's during my research I was skeptical at first because of the mixed reviews. Some people had complaints, while others loved them, so I decided to try them out on my own. The setup is not as bad as some say. I mean seriously, its two cables that connect to the back of your PS4 and a few setting changes. Initially I was discouraged about having to plug into my controller, but that's one of the features that got me excited about the PS4 in the first place. Anyway the sound is great once you figure out how you want your setting. I like bass when gaming and these do the job for me. YOU CAN BE MISLED if you are not listening/playing something with high quality sound! I was "testing" my set and was a bit upset before figuring that out. I love being able to hear footsteps when playing COD!!! It definitely gives me an advantage. Friends of mine said that the mic sounded good as well. When it comes to movies, they sound good too! The bass was deep and better than I initially expected. Did I mention I can mute the tv and play games with full surround sounds without waking my fiance??? All that being said I like the PX4's.

This headset is being used with a PS4 so that is what I will be focusing this review on. The set-up took around 15 minutes to set-up and working. The longest part is testing if the unit works because the instructions don't state exactly how the unit should respond. For example, I couldn't tell if the lights should be solid on or blinking. Turns out that the transmitter should have FOUR solid lights on when the unit is functioning with surround sound on. The light on the headset should be blinking if working correctly. I mostly have the headset with default settings so I can't say what any of the buttons do or how well they work on the headset. The virtual surround sound works very well. Using the unit while playing The Last of Us factions, I can tell where other players are by listening for there player's footsteps. The mic also works well. I have not had any other players complain or point out that I am not heard or sound bad. The only complaint I have about this units mic is that to use it with the PS4 I have to plug it into the DS4. This is a minor annoyance and I knew about it before buying, just want everyone to know about it.

I got these for my brother, who is very hard of hearing. He likes to watch television with his wife, but she hates having the volume up so loud. We looked at several made for TV headphones, but all had RCA connections, which many modern HD televisions do not have. We settled on these with their optical digital input. There are less expensive, similar quality headphones, but he likes dual bluetooth, so he can pair it with the base as well as his phone and know when he gets a phone call while watching television. He also likes the many different sound pre-sets so he can quickly find the one best suited to whatever he is watching, making it easier for him to make out the vocal range and filter some of the loud music or sound effects. Unfortunately, since they were designed for use with the Playstation console they get the base gets its power from a USB source. Modern consoles like the Playstation 3 & 4, as well as the Xbox 360 and One, have a suitable USB. And while many TV's have a USB "input" for devices like Chrome TV, his didn't have enough kick to power the base. We bought a phone charger with USB jack to plug into the wall socket and he's all set.

Purchased this headset to use with my Playstation 4 and it sounds amazing. I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 4 and it gives a huge advantage over the competition. You can hear the direction of every footstep, vehicle or bullet whizzing past you. The bass from the explosions is solid, the clicks as your weapon reloads is so realistic. Gives so much more immersion to the game. The headset is in fact wireless but the only catch is at the moment you have to connect a wire to the ps4 controller to use the microphone. Hopefully after a future update you can use the bluetooth for talking. Another great feature that needs to be mentioned is the fact that you can sync the bluetooth with your phone and answer phone calls while playing the game. Also uses a rechargeable battery that last 15 hours!

i am an avid gamer, as in I play multiple hours everyday, and I take pride in the products I use. However, that is not the case for this particular headset. I received the Turtle Beach PX4 Headset for Christmas and was thrilled. After I returned home, I set it up and it was quick and painless. After joining an Xbox party of friends, I quickly realized there was no chat volume. I sat down and tried the set up techniques Turtle Beach had to offer as well as numerous websites but nothing helped turn down the chat volume. I soon realized that because of the Chat Boost technology (meaning as the game volume increases so does the chat volume. Picture a sine wave with very little dynamic lag.) incorporated in the headset, there was nothing I could do to change the volume. This was a very disappointing discovery and unfortunately resulted in me returning the product. I really wanted to keep this headset because it was extremely comfortable and the sound quality with no white noise, interference, and Dolby Digital 5.1 was immaculate and made it difficult to return them. Overall I would most certainly recommend them to a friend if all that person did was play by his/herself but if he/she party chats a lot, unfortunately I cannot recommend them.

These headphones are pretty nice, they sound good and its easy to control the volume. They also have 4 different eq settings although there isnt a huge difference between the options, but still decent. You have to make sure you don't let the battery drain all the way or they might disconnect, which is kind of a pain. Partly due to the fact that they don't have the greatest user guide, they just want you to go to their website to do any troubleshooting. I have had them for about 2 months and have lost the connection once. They do beep at you when the battery is getting low, so if you pay attention to your usage you shouldn't have any issues. My biggest complaint...since I don't use the gaming microphone... is that the plug for the microphone looks a little awkward without the mic in it. It's like a extra little tube that hangs off the side of the headset. This isn't really a huge deal since most people probably use the mic, but I do think they could figure out a sleeker way to be able to plug and unplug the microphone.

So I was forced to get a headset since my gf is going back to school and she needed our apt to be quiet when she studies. I guess she couldn't handle the explosions of battlefield or the crowd noise in NBA 2k. Keep in mind I already have a surround sound 5.1 setup. After doing some research I came across the px4s and the Sony pulse elite edition (I knew there was a patch to make these compatible with the ps4). I decided to go with the px4s because 1. They are dolby digital surround sound vs virtual surround sound 2. 15 hours of battery life vs 3-5 hours on the elite 3. Branding (the name turtle beach speaks for itself) 4. Style/quality of headset. Overall I am very impressed and the sound quality is top notch. Better pick them up while they are still on sale. No need to spend $300 or more to get marginally better sound quality.

This is an amazing set of headphones. i Use it primarily for epic Battlefield matches and COD. Initially difficult to setup as the instructions that came with it did not describe PS4 setup, however online manual and forums cleared it up. Once set up these have multiple level setups and 6! (yeah 6) different surround angle setups. Trust me you'll eventually find the best combo for you. For the price totally worth it, wireless, multi link bluetooth (yeah listen to your game/movie and use your phone). Battery life never crosses my mind since its so long. For movies i recommend angle setup #4 (pushes rear noise to greater angle) and level setup #4( both bass and treble are pushed up) For games try angle #3 and level #2. Oh and please ensure your in FRONT of the screen. The headphones are wireless but they dont follow your head movements as some have complained. Overall totally worth it. Especially late night movies, i no longer have to worry about the volume =)

I bought these on the launch of PS4 as advertised as wireless and supported by Sony. The sound is awesome and these could be a great product but simply will not. The completely wireless part was false upon opening up the box but was promised later once PS4 came out with an update. That update is now out but only for Sony headphones. The bluetooth capability would be awesome on these but once again Sony does not support it and will not in the future. With no BT support, I am unable to adjust the volume of the chat from other players as well as not able to mute my headphones. A great product but with Sonys rules all of the cool features are obsolete when using with the PS4. Turtle beach support is awful as well in getting back to you or giving you answers. I will be taking mine back today.

Bought this for my PS4 because it has PS4 on the packaging. It is not a recognized bluetooth headset for the PS4 so that part is incorrect. It's similar to if you try to use any of your old PS3 headsets. You can't pair it to the PS4 but you can still use it. It uses a box connected to the optical outlet in the back of the PS4 to communicate. The catch is that since it isn't paired with the bluetooth, the mute and volumes for the communication aspects do not work. The game volume levels are still controllable and the boom mic still works. It's the ability to turn it off which has me wanting to return it though. For sound, it's pretty amazing. It says dolby surround sound but the light for this wouldn't turn on even though the PS4 was updated. My guess is that the lack of compatibility is causing issues there as well. All in all, I bet it is amazing for XBOX or PS3 but for PS4 it's false advertising plain and simple. It is not a PS4 headset.

If this headset had larger ear cups it would be perfect! I wear Hearing Aids, and these earcups are just barely large enough to go around my ears/hearing aids. For most people, the earcups are a good size, as they're just large enough to go around the ear, assuming you have small/medium size ears. The wireless works great, and I love not having cables between me and my tv when I'm playing. The ability to separately adjust the game & chat audio is fantastic! The chat cable that goes from the headset to the controller is also the perfect size to go from the headset to my mobile/cell phone. This let's me run TeamSpeak on my phone and chat with my friends (especially when I'm playing a game that's not solely PS4 based). I love having that flexibility. The one thing I REALLY wish it had was a power cord of its own. Instead it's powered via one of the two USB ports on your PS4.

I purchased this headset for my son to play on his xbox 360. I favored this headset because it's wireless and it was supposed to work for xbox 360. Even though the box says it works for xbox 360, and it comes with a cable for xbox 360, it's not a talkback cable, which prevented us from controlling the chat volume heard via the headset. The volume controls on the headset are just for the game volume, not chat. As the cable that came with the headset for the xbox 360 was useless for us, so we had to purchased a turtle beach talkback cable from Amazon, which worked great. Now we can control the chat volume via the talkback cable and the game volume via the headset. As for the charger, it lasts forever and so far, we haven't had any issues with battery running out in the middle of the game. However, if it does, the charging cable is so long that we can continue playing and charging at the same time if necessary.
