The earphones cancel out the noises around you very well; however, there are just too many cords to manage.

I picked this headset up not for the Xbox but for pc and ran in to a lot of problems so I switched it to the Xbox to do the first test. Out the box this Headset does not work with anything other then the Xbox 360 slim. So if you want to use it on a older model or a pc you will have to buy more cables for a head set that already has a lot of cables lol. In the xbox 360 using the digital optical on the slim worked good and had some good sound but nothing to great. I own a pair of the Sony MDR-v150 (about 25$) and they work way batter when using the DSS box. The sound gets destroyed when turned up, The mic works good. Other then that nothing is great about this headset with a 100$ price tag. After testing on the xbox slim moved to the pc and this was what I had to use to get it working I need a 3.5mm male to male headphone jack cable to go from my box to speakers I also needed a 2.5mm to 3.5 male to male so I can get the mic to work. Does not seam much but adding this to the two boxes already with the cable you have a mess on your desk. both cables do not go to the same box one goes to the dss and the other goes to the headphone amp for the mic. Its just to much but when comparing these to a set of 25$ Sony headphones the Sony's sounded better. To tell the truth there are better head sets out there for the same price or cheaper do your homework before buying them. Also there is no noise calculation. Only thing worth buying in this set is the DSS box that comes with the head phones but after looking it up it seams the high price on the head phones is for the box since they sell the DSS for 75$ by its self so looking like your getting a set of 25$ headphones
