Customers commend the Elite 800 Wireless DTS 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset's exceptional sound quality, wireless functionality, and comfortable design. Many also appreciate its good battery life. However, some users find the buttons overly sensitive, the price high, and the fit snug for larger heads. A few also noted the headset's weight as a potential issue during extended use.

Great headset for hardcore gamers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aesthetics/build: 5/5 Headset looks very sleek and sporty while not being over the top. Build quality is superior and does not feel cheap at all. Only had for about a month so I can't attest to their longevity, but so far I have had no issues in this area and hope they last a long time. Sound: 5/5 I've had many headsets in the past but this one by far has the best sound quality. With a ridiculous amount of presets tuned for different games you will be amazed how good your games/music sound. I primarily play shooters and was amazed at how well I can hear footsteps or guns being shot depending on the mode. Comfort: 4/5 Headset fits very snug and the leather is comfortable. The area that cups your ears could be a little larger which is why i gave it a 4/5 but this could be personal preference. Worn for consecutive hours and never had many issues other than my ears feeling quite snug. Price:5/5 At $230 this is definitely the most expensive pair of headphones/headset I've ever bought. However you can tell from the build quality and sound they are far superior than anything below this price range. Having worn Astro's A40's and A50's which are priced higher I can honestly say the price was definitely worth it. Won't be going back to my turtle beach X22's.

Manufacturing Issue!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had these only about 1.5 months. Realized that after you have game sound + chat sound + bluetooth sound, the speakers crackle and distort horribly! I took it back (it has no "normal" manufacture warranty on file at best buy) and had to use my geeksquad protection! AFTER 1.5MONTHS! They still had the plastic on them. That being said, aside from that these are simply amazing. They sync to the console instantly. 100% wirless with no adapters on the controller, battery lasts longer than my rechargables in my xp510's as well as the sound quality is great! The range is so-so for me, nearly identical (if not less) than my xp510's. Considering how I had to "replicate" the issue, all in all I would still recommend these over the previous generation. I still love them.

Great headset.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best gaming headset and worth the price. If you enjoy listening to music while gaming and cheating with friends online, then I wouldn't recommend any other headset. This headset does it all, plus works as a headset without having to be turned on (if connected to aux cable). I love these. Better quality than Beats Headset, cheaper in price, quality not sacrificed, and can connect to multiple devices. That's a win in my book. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is due to button sensitivity- If you barely lean on your ear cup, you could accidentally mute, turn off, or change sound modes by accident. Not a big deal, but it has annoyed me once or twice. All in all, I've already recommended to all my friends that love to listen to music while gaming.

Amazing headphones completely witeless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best headphones I have found for XBone. Easy to sync, decent battery life, plenty of presets, & super comfortable. Turtle beach website alittle hard to navigate the "elite " membership part. BestBuy not extremely versed in Video games and game item info, but overall it was a good experience. I recommend the headphones for anyone who wants a truly wireless experience.

Pricey but worth it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a comfortable headset with beautiful surround sound. They don't hurt my ears like my old set did. It has hidden dual microphones which is helpful and adds to the sleek look. With the Bluetooth connectivity it's easy to stay connected to the outside world while gaming.

Great wireless headsets
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially bought some beats wireless hoping to use it for music/movies as well as the PS4 i definitely was not satisfied with the purchase and picked up the TB 800's.These headphones sound great! and are loaded with multiple options for various platforms.one of my favorite features has to be the Bluetooth which allows you to play music(receive a phone call) from a device while you're playing a game. double mic is really nice too so you can hear what you are saying.giving four stars as my first pair had a defective right cup, the buttons are also way to easy to press, you can end up changing your settings with out wanting to. overall though i am really satisfied with this purchase.

Good not great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a tough time deciding between these and the Astro A50's. I bought these and used them for a two weeks. They come with all the bells and whistles. Tons of features for games, movies, and music. The bluetooth connected to my phone with ease. Setup for the PS4 was equally as easy. Downloading the software updates are easy also. The charging cradle is a great addition for this expensive headset. I hate to say but, that's what drew me towards these. After my trial with these. I took them back and swapped them for the A50's. Just to try them out. I didn't figure it would hurt. The associate that helped me assured me that if I hated the A50's. I could bring them back also. A month later I still have my A50's. They were the headset for me. Both bring alot to the table. The 800's have so many techy features, which are nice. I feel with so many features, it takes away from what its supposed to be. A gaming headset. The sound was a bit dull for my liking. I'm not saying they were not clear. If the action was minimal, they were very clear. When there was a lot going on. The sound became dull. Not as bad as distorted garble you sometimes get. Everything seemed to run together in a dull sound. I advise to try both. Then make a decision on which is better for you. Run both headsets thru the ringer for two weeks and find which pair fits your style. The 800's are a bit tight. If your hat size is LG/XL, your ears and temples will be a bit sore after extended use. The ear cups also hold more heat in than I expected. They are fairly cushy. The "pleather" will be hot and you will see sweat on them if you're in a warm room. This headset is quite heavy also. The bar that runs across the top of your head has a little cushion to it. I would have expected a thicker one for the price of these. It will make the top of your head a little sore if you have shorter hair. Just remember, heft doesn't always mean "well built". I gave these 800's an average rating because they could have put a bit more into the comfort and sound output. Side note: The buttons on the sides of the ear cups are almost to easy to press. If you have to adjust the fit. You will be pressing them and switching your presets. Better just to take them off to adjust the fit. I recommend the 800's if they are on sale. A good sale, $75-$100 off.

Great sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I feel the sound is pretty good but not better than other turtle beach headsets I have owned in the past. These headphones are very comfortable and have an amazing battery life which is definitely a plus. The downsides that I have encountered are the headset just glitches and has no sound comingnout of it which ruins certain cutscenes. Also I have encountered static and I’m only sitting maybe 15 feet from the television. I’m going to return these and try out ASTRO.

Excellent so, although not really noise-cancelling
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The elite 800 offer amazing sound and are really comfortable to wear. I like the on ear controls for convenience, however some buttons are little too sensitive and it's easy to change settings by accident, and having that voice come on and tell you that you just switched to "footsteps" mode is really annoying, especially if you're in the middle of listening to something important. The one thing that bothers me the most however is that even when the noise cancelling is on, it's not quite cancelling all noise from outside. Nevertheless, the absence of wire and the 7.1 surround make them a worthwhile investment.

Bought them, then returned them
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a high end wireless headset. I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube on three specific models. The TB Elite, Steel Series, and the Astro A50. I have owned nothing but TB products before so I was leaning more towards the Eilite's. I have no experience with the other two companies so I was hesisitant on dropping a large amount of $ on the other brands. I got home and unboxed the TB. My review is IMO only and by no means am I professional tester and reviewer of products. First impression: Well built, LOTS of great features (noise cancelling, ability to listen to music via Bluetooth, ability to answer the phone via Bluetooth, and tons of presets). The sound from the 7.1 speakers are impressive and completely immersive). The charging station is clean and the whole system is the only true wireless headset when using with the XBox One. The cons -the headset fits snugly, almost too snug to the point my ears were getting warm. The biggest gripe I had was the mic set up. Yes it was nice to not have a mic hanging around your face all the time. The problem was that I sounded like I was in a fish bowl or I sounded really distant to my friends when chatting on XBox live. I tried the online updates from the TB website and nothing seemed to work. I literally tried these headsets for about a couple of hours and had to return them. I traded them in and settled on the A50's. The difference is night and day when it comes to overall comfort. The A50's are very comfortable and the sounds from their 7.1 surround are equally amazing. There are less presets than the TB but that makes everything simpler to control. In conclusion, if you don't mind the sub par mic on the TB and the snug fit but want a lot of cool features then these Elite 800X are a good bet. If you don't mind a headset that has fewer bells and whistles but is really comfortable to wear and the sounds are equally amazing and clear then you may want to invest in the A50's

Excellent Headphones for Gaming and Music
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After evaluating the differences between the Turtle Beach Elite 800 and the Astro A50 headphones for PlayStation 4, I did not hesitate to choose the Elite 800. I've been using the Elite 800 for the past week, and I must say I have never experienced audio quality quite like it. Most astonishing is the ability to hear your gaming experience in 3D--especially in games where one wants to know from where enemies are approaching. However, this was not the deciding factor as the Astro A50 offers a similar feature. What distinguishes these two headphones is that the Elite 800 offers more flexible usage features for those who like to multi-task. For example, while gaming--or listening to music--one can talk on his/her mobile device via Bluetooth due to the built-in dual microphones. Audio for both can be heard clearly without any interference. In addition, the built-in dual mics work perfectly--have not had one complaint from any person listening on the other end. While the Astro A50 is reputed to post a longer battery life, most gamers should get plenty of usage from the 10hr long battery of the Elite 800--and that posted battery length by Turtle Beach is 100% legitimate, not propaganda. I played for six hours, and utilized the Bluetooth capability simultaneously, and the battery life was still at 50%. The headphone's functions can also be managed by the Turtle Beach companion app, which also monitors the headphone's battery life. Music audio is the clearest I've ever heard--and the base is excellent! Some complainants have suggested there is a hissing sound. While I am not dismissing others' experiences, I have not personally experienced any hissing sounds. I highly recommend this headphone to every PlayStation 4 gamer.

Awesome Sound and Great Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 2nd pair of Turtle Beach wireless headphones after the PX4 which I loved. I chose to upgrade to these to be fully wireless for PS4 chat and the new great features. There are a lot of preset sound modes (game, movie, music, etc.), each with sub-presets to enhance such things as bass or set to a type of game like a shooter or racer. Noise Cancellation, more Bluetooth features, and the companion app are all awesome. With the PX4, I loved being able to take/make a call while playing without touching my phone, and now, the Elite 800 Bluetooth can also play music wirelessly to the headphones from a phone or other device. On top of all the features, the padding and weight distribution make them incredibly comfortable. I have had 4 hour sessions and not had any issues. Another big plus is the magnetic charging stand. I think this is a great addition and helps justify the high price tag. The stand grabs the headphone and keeps it standing in place while charging. A (temporary) downside that I am experiencing is with the Mic Monitoring. I have yet to find a solution, but the Mic Monitoring (which lets you hear yourself in the headset) doesn't seem to be working. I use the companion app to increase/decrease the volume, but my voice volume doesn't change. Once this is fixed, 5 stars.

Great For Serious Gamers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love these headphones. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is because every now and then indicator lights flash while their charging which can get annoying. With that being said wireless is extremely convenient, linkage to your phone through Bluetooth ensures you'll never miss a notification, and the surround sound is unreal. These headphones really do give you an unfair advantage with hearing people around corners. Definitely a must have for anyone who plays a stealth load out in FPS games.

Actually Wireless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a completely wireless solution. I owned a set of ASTRO A40s and was going to buy A50s when I found out they were not completely wireless. The Elite 800s feel great with memory phone ear pads. The sound is almost as good as Astros

Sound is Incredible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this headset after the first Turtle Beach set died after four years. The sound is superior to the PX5 and much more comfortable. When I first used them, they were soft. I upgraded the firmware and added presets, and the volume and clarity were amazing. One note of advice...The firmware upgrade needs you to plug in BOTH the headset and the base unit. If you miss that step, nothing will happen. I have had no issues with hiss or volume since the upgrade. Works perfectly with the PS4 in 7.1 as well as the iPad and iPhone in stereo. Phone calls however, not so good on my headset. Although the mics pick up your voice and because you can still hear yourself outside the headset, there is a slight lag between your voice and the mic, causing it to sound like a bad echo. Not a biggie for me unless someone tries to call me at 2am (never happens).

Best Gaming Headset Yet & yes the pain is worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been an Astro A50 owner for years, got them for my XB360 and they were/are phenomenal as far as sound, chat, & COMFORT. XB1 does not function well with my previous gen Astro's. So I needed to upgrade; was going in to pick up the new Astro's for the XB1 and saw these. The wireless chat is what sold me on them and also the noise cancelation. Figured I would try them out for a week and return them if I needed to. I cannot express how convenient it is to be truly wireless from the controller! Now I have pretty average male ears and after about 2 hours, this headset does begin to hurt but I simply adjust them and apply pressure to another part of my ear (its a work around fix but works). I needless to say love these and am very content with the purchase. Btw, it does Bluetooth and silences the game when you get a phone call!

Perfect for the gamer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like hearing all the nuances in a game, footsteps, rustling leaves, bullets whizzing by, it will make you a better gamer. The chat mic is very sensitive and clear. Bluetooth connects easily and I can take a phone call while playing on my Xbox or listen to music. Its comfortable for hours of play and great battery life. Best headset I own. I have used Tritton, Polk, other Turtle Beaches, Microsoft headsets, Astros but this is absolutely my favorite.

Poor value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Turtle Beach 800x failed to meet my expectations. Spending upwards of $300 with the Geek Squad warranty and taxes I set the bar high. I’ll start with the cons. The Cons: If you have a bigger head and/or wear a hat when playing you will be forced to stretch these out to their maximum length and even then it may not be big enough. The concept of being completely wireless is very cool, however I sat about 4-5 feet away from the transmitter and the signal would still cut out here and there, nothing unbearable but definitely noticeable. The concept of having an app to help with customization of the headset is another cool feature, however the app is noticeably dated and I couldn’t get the app to work on my iPhone X, so it felt like I was missing out on a good amount of features but I couldn’t be 100% sure because as previously stated I couldn’t get the app to work. If I were to get even more picky I would have to make note that the buttons on the outside of the ear cups are very sensitive which makes it easy to accidentally press the wrong button at times which could be a bit annoying more than anything. The construction could’ve at least tried to deceive you into looking expensive however it’s about 95% plastic including the headband which I could see breaking down the road after some wear and tear and possibly some raging here and there. The last and biggest con for me was the mic itself, I liked that they hid it inside the headset but with that comes drawbacks, like I said I set the bar high and expected to the mic to sound amazing but to my surprise my friends that I play with online told me that my old mic (priced way under $300 and more like $30) actually sounded better than the 800x and that the 800x almost sounded like a Kinect mic but not as bad. The Pros: For being a completely wireless headset I was actually surprised at how good the battery was, I usually play for a couple hours at a time and the headset never died on me, It’s a 7.1 headset and sounds like one, if what you’re used to is just hearing audio coming from your TV speakers then you will be blown away by the surround sound this headset offers. Charging the headset is hassle free as all you have to do is set it on the stand and the magnet will grab it to charge also good because you won’t be mowing through AAA batteries every couple weeks. Setup is simple for just about any application Even though the headset wasn’t quite big enough for my head with my hat on once I started playing I would forget about it and it would become pretty comfortable. Although there are a few cons on the list the 800x is not a bad headset but as the subject line suggest I believe it is a poor value, I would be able to accept all of those cons and roll with them if the headset was half the price it is, unfortunately it is not. Luckily I was able to return mine in the 14 day return period and opt for something better
