While the change in the tv wasn't drastic, the technician Johnny was very experienced and very professional. He explained everything and was very knowledgeable. He was able to get rid of the green tint that I felt my Samsung tv had and the whole process took about an hour. Again while the color and clarity weren't eye popping different, I was very pleased with his effort and work to make sure I was completely satisfied. The overall satisfaction of the job comes down to personal preference of picture clarity vs color saturation.
He explained that in order to achieve detailed clarity, you would have to sacrifice some color. Over saturated colors bleed through the clarity and fine details. He explained that there is a balance. Was it worth the money? Yes if you can catch on sale for $149 like I did. Otherwise I wouldn't pay $249.

worth it for a high end TV

I was not sure it would be worth the price tag but after having it done I would recommend it to anyone who wants the best possible picture from your high end TV. After reading endless articles and wondering if I could do it myself, I'm glad I left it to professionals. The tech explained every step of the process and what he said made a lot of sense. He showed how the equipment measures the various colors produced by the 'as built' TV and how the adjustments brought all of the separate colors into balance. Why aren't they built and shipped in balance? Reasonable question. Tech explained TVs are built with separate components that are purchased in bulk (makes sense). And each batch of components are not exactly the same as another batch. So if your particular TV was built with components from a variety of different batches, they all work together, but may not be perfectly in balance with one another. That's also why the configuration of settings for my TV may not be the same as the configuration for your TV. So if you read a configuration of settings on a blog for your make and model of TV that doesn't mean those settings will be right for your TV
The other reason I decided to go with the pros is that there are way too many options in the Tv menu. The tech explained each of them and what they did. I could have tried to mess with each endlessly. Bottom line if you're going to pay $3,000 for an OLED TV what's another $250 to fine tune it with accurate calibration equipment? Ive read other reviews suggesting the technician is key to a quality calibration. The guy I got was first rate. Responded to my email afterwards to answer additional questions. For me, it was well worth it.

I had recently purchased a Sony4k tv Model: XBR65X850B and wanted the best picture quality so decided to get it calibrated everything went smooth and first I did not notice any big change on the picture quality with cable but when I started streaming Netflix 4k movie service I noticed a huge difference even with Blu-ray movies. The geek squad technician did an excellent job of calibrating my new TV. He explained each step so I could understand. Good Job Geek Squad...

This is something that as a service, I find indisputable as I have invested a great deal into my Television, am ILED model. These are known to have the effect some know as “Burn in” whereby a channel logo -those small logos in the corner- can, in fact, be there forever.
This is rarely seen on consumer models though Pubs that buy the big screens to watch games on or the like have them running a constant same channel. Over the years, it has gotten better with newer tech etc.
In my case, and in most every household owning a new investment (in this case, a OLED television) means upkeep.
Pretty simply put: there are devices that are placed on the screen after a year or so of use these devices detect the changes in your image. Not personal image- I’m certain that is terrific. Though you may not notice, after a year of average use, televisions just lose their luster and continue to deteriorate.
Just as I turned, ahem, had a birthday, I feel I could use a calibration too.
So if you want the image to be optimal, this is your call out. Schedule in one year after purchase, it will make a LOT of difference (for the better!)

We decided to have our 7" Samsung Calibrated after being told it would have the most amazing picture quality afterwords. What we didn't know what that they only calibrate 1 (Movie) of 4 (Movie, Dynamic, Standard and Natural) settings. Had we know that we probably would have skipped the service since we don't really use movie setting.
The tech arrived a little late for the appointment. He was very nice and said that he would get the calibration taken care of. Unfortunately I did not get a before and after demo or print out.
The picture is mildly better than before. Again, we don't really use that setting. Barry, the tech, was the one who told me they only calibrated the 1 setting.

Overall I am very pleased with the work performed by the technician that came by and calibrated my new LG OLED tv. The only negative would be that he didn't have the most recent CalMAN software. CalMAN AutoCal supports my particular TV and would have auto calibrated the SDR display along with HDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision. With the older software the technician had to calibrate the SDR display and then copy those settings over to the other display types. I am still very pleased with the results and the professionalism of the tech.

TV Calibration in the time of COVID-19

We had postponed the TV calibration twice because of COVID but, reassured by Best Buy's stated protocols, finally pulled the trigger and had it done in August. It went fine (this was a month ago); the tech seemed as scrupulous about COVID as we were.
Rating the calibration per se is tough because our LG OLED was already close to showing a correct picture after setting the TV to Cinema mode and making a few minor adjustments to the standard controls. But the tech tweaked the black levels (pre calibration, dark scenes were inky black, with no detail on clothing, for example; post calibration this was somewhat better) and made some color corrections (some skin tones had been a bit orangey and some greens had been a bit fluorescent).
A set like this is capable of showing an accurate picture so ... get it calibrated to make the picture accurate. But of course the tech has to be good, and this BB tech did indeed seem to be good. He was also personable and interesting to talk to, not essential but a nice bonus.

I bought a 75 in. Samsung QLED Q9 recently and was amazed by the picture quality. I did some "tweaking" of the picture settings on my own when we first got it, and didn't think a Geek Squad Calibration could improve it. I was wrong! Aaron spent nearly 2 hours setting colors, white balance, saturation, and settings I'd never even heard of using some real high tech equipment. Result? Even better and more amazing! The picture is so much more natural, less "showroom vivid" than I had set it. It looks like what the producers wanted when they filmed it. I highly recommend that anyone who buys an upper end TV have this calibration done!

Calibration makes for a great clear, crisp picture on all TVs, especially 4K TVs. Blacker blacks and whiter whites with great picture clarity and definition. Price is a little steep but if you can fork it out I would recommend.

This is the second TV that I've had calibrated. First off I will say completely worth the investment. If you want the most from your TV, especial if it's a high end model go for it. I recently purchased a Samsung q80. Right out of the box I though it was great. However in certain cases I expected more. At times (especially during bright or fast action scenes) it seemed to be missing some detail. Well not only did I find that missing detail, I found more detail that I didn't know was missing. As I've been told by the geek squad agent TV manufacturers need to stick with making a TV display what the picture is supposed to look like not what we what to see. Yes after having the calibration done its not as bright or colorful as it was out of the box. The problem is all the extra colors and brightness are washing out the detail you should be seeing in your new expensive 4k TV. I love it. Detail, detail and more detail. You'll see things like never before.

Geek squad arrived on time and in great spirits. They were friendly and answered any questions I had. They took their time with the calibration tool meticulously adjusting more than just the normal picture settings.
However, I was surprised to learn that the calibration provided by Geek Squad was only applied to the Stand Dynamic Range (or SDR) settings of my television, that their equipment could not calibrate High Dynamic Range (or HDR) content. In stores a TV with HDR is a selling point, that that coupled with HDR content (4K Blu Ray or AppleTV) is the pinnacle or color picture quality. Purchasing an expensing native-HDR OLED panel and UHD Blu Ray player made the calibration seem pointless if only applied to SDR content and settings.
SDR content does genuinely look better when viewed after calibration. For an older TV or one not enabled with HDR this will be the best way to make it accurate! However, for my favorite content I would have liked the calibration to have been applied to HDR settings as well.

We love helping our customers unlock the full potential of their technology, and the HDR capabilities of your new TV is no exception. It’s great to hear our Geek Squad Agents were friendly and offered you the answers you were looking for, but it’s disappointing to hear there may have been some confusion regarding the service they’re able to perform. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and hopefully this won’t discourage you from utilizing our Geek Squad services in the future.

This was something I always wanted to get. Calibration of my tv is one of those things I always read about but never thought I would. In this case I just purchased a Sony 950 model. I think the amount of difference you see (before and after) is dependant on how good out of the box your color settings, white balance, contrast, etc. are. Sony is known for being very accurate so there wasn't a major difference before and after. But I still satisfied that once calibrated I knew the tv was as good as it was going to get.
About the process...it no longer takes a truckload of equipment. There is a computer with specialized software, a pattern generator and a device to read the pattern on the screen. Much of the process is automated but not all of it. So the people sent out are trained to do the job properly. Overall I was very pleased with the experience.

Be prepared for a lengthy Installation of 2 - 2.5 hours but most likely you will be satisfied with the end result. My end result didn't quite meet my high expectations but it was an improvement nonetheless. The tv picture overall was a 7 before the calibration and 8.5 afterwards. I wanted a little more improvement but have realized that the content source dictates the picture quality in almost all cases. For the price I paid via total tech support, it was worth it to get the tv calibrated to the recommended settings.

Calibrate TV's

When technician came to calibrate, he discussed how the TV would look versus how it looked at the time. Based on his input, decided NOT to calibrate. Wished Best Buy sales person had explained this to me at scheduling, would have saved my time and the Geek Squad rep's time if we had known then. Geek Squad rep was professional and well versed in carrying out his job and satisfying my requirements. Lost a star not because of him but because of the in-store clerk not fully explaining what calibration would achieve.

At first I wasn't sure if I would see any improvement to my new LG OLED65E6P. However, after the Best Buy tech Marko worked his magic. The picture and all the colors were so much more true to reality. The colors weren't over saturated and looked more natural IMO. In addition, I received this service for half price on a 4 hour flash sale this was a no brainer at that point. If you are going to spend the money for a high end TV I would recommend this service, it does make a difference!!

Decided to purchase this as I hit "elite" status, and made this service affordable. I can definitely tell a difference on the whites/black and the colors definitely seem more accurate. At the $50 price point this was a no brainer....if I didn't have the elite status though I wouldn't pay $250 for this service. I could have probably gotten pretty close to this myself going through some AV forums.

The two Geek Squad guys were very efficient in their installation of the TV base/stand, placing the large TV right where I requested, connecting up my antenna and various video components, performing the channel search, picture & sound adjustments, and providing advice and answers to my questions. The guys worked well together as though they had been Best Buy employees for a while and had done many such installations like this. I'm glad I had them do the set-up process, rather than trying to figure it out on my own, and the TV was quite a bit heavier than I would have expected.
Also I learned features of the TV and remote's operation that I may not have discovered by myself.

The agents were on time, friendly, professional AND they explained the process as they performed each individual task. They answered my curiosity questions so upon completion not only was my TV expertly calibrated, I understood why they selected certain parameters over others. Great experience -- and EXCEPTIONAL picture results. Considering that SONY TVs already have wonderful pictures, before the calibration I would never have thought I would notice much difference -- but I enjoy the improvements to my picture every day now!!!

Calibration of TV

First time to have a TV professionally calibrated. The Geek Squad guys were great, very knowledgeable and professional. Their service is top notch. I only gave a rating of 4 Stars because I am not that thrilled with a calibrated picture. I think I prefer tweaking the picture modes myself, but that is just me. I like a brighter picture than what you get with calibration.
