TWENTY88 is a interesting pairing and musical forray. The project is meant to chronicle a "fictional" famous couple's relationship ups and downs. Thus, the themes addressed here is basic stuff of R&B and Hip-Hop: $ex, monogamy, emotional trauma and healing. Yet, when they speak/sing about the topics mentioned earlier the result is familiar but oddly realistic. The undeniable chemistry between their voices makes the music poignant but cheesy (lyrically and thematically). It is almost like they are singing to one another PERSONALLY (and they may be). Which makes the subject matter/lyrics somehow possess bite. It's the classic question "Are they? Or, aren't they?" formula in CD format "trolling", or is that the whole point after all. They get hot and heavy on the sizzling 'Push It', nasty (and reckless) on 'Two Minute Warning', 'On The Way' and toxic on 'Deja Vu', 'Selfish' and 'Talk Show'. The album closer 'London Bridge' finds them reconciling in the end which lives up to the 'fictional' synopsis. Still, the music leaves more questions than answers to something obviously "fictional"... which is where a sort of genius brews under the surface of otherwise "heard it before" themes.

Twenty88 is is a natural progression following several collaborations by singer Jhene' Aiko and rapper Big Sean. The two spar over the course of eight tracks in a futuristic battle-of-the-sexes inspired by the 2015 cerebral thriller "Ex Machina" which does not disappoint.

album is wonderful, every song has a different meaning, many to which people can relate to. Loved every song on this album. definitely recommend it

Really like this collaboration if you like both artist give it a listen, and have been listening to the album non stop.
