Fun Party Game but Controls Need Improvement

I'm not really a UFC fan, but I do enjoys sports and fighting games, and since WWE 2K16 is still somehow still missing key wrestlers, I picked this up through my Gamer's Club discount and gift cards. This game is a lot of fun. The graphics are great, they really capture the big fight atmosphere. The roster is enormous - you can pick pretty much any fighter that's fought in UFC and isn't under contract to another company (no Brock Lesnar then, unfortunately). It's a pretty easy game to pick up and play - the striking is a ton of fun, and I enjoy the animations for big hits and takedowns. My two complaints: -For a MMA game, tapping out someone is almost impossible. Submissions are six-step process that can be pretty easily blocked at multiple points. This really needs to be simplified for future games because it breaks immersion (so many submissions happen in a flash). -I know EA Sports for "realism," but future games should allow openweight fights. I would have loved for my heavyweight created fighter to be able to go against Conor McGregor, for example.

This game feels pretty real as far as fighting games go. If you jam buttons and punch non-stop you will wear yourself down to nothing. Hits count and effect the end result, however there is always a real chance that you can loose it all if you let your guard down. This create good tension. The issues are more in that it is what it is...a fighting game. There is still room for growth if EA really wanted to put you more into the events. Soon after you play a few times you see presentation and personality are kind of seen that done that. Customization also is fairly limited IMO, unless you want to make some freakish looking character..... But I wanted a good fighting game that felt more like a sim and this game gave me that. I would recommend this game, but the understanding it is quick and just fighting...no stories here....just basic but solid for what it is.

Let's face it...most of the fighting games out there are unrealistic. You punch and kick at will without getting tired, or you shoot fireballs magically through the air, or you suplex someone off of the top rope. Not with the UFC. This amazing take on mixed martial arts is spot on. Below the amazing graphics and animations is a fairly complex fighting system. you can keep the bout on your feet with punches and kicks, or you can take it to the ground with clenches and wrestling for position. The only problem with the game is it does have a steep learning curve that you have to devote some time to in order to get the hang of it and improve.

Like this one better then Ufc 3. I think the blocking & overall movement is better and the controls too. Ufc 3 I feel is very, very, slow in comparison to Ufc 1-2. I also feel the controls are way more responsive to me. I’m gonna sit down and play Ufc 3 & see if I can get the hang of it. Also, for those who don’t know the controls are different from Ufc 1-2. Example: to do an uppercut u have to press 2 buttons, to dodge punches & kicks you have to use the right stick as oppose to the left stick...

Without playing a UFC game since UFC Undisputed 2009, I feel similarities between the two. Between my experience with that game and Fight Night Round 4, I was able to pick UFC 2 up and get a feel for the controls almost immediately. It was almost muscle memory, between the strikes, blocking system, and take downs. If you've played these games before, nothing is really new. There are a lot of modifiers, which make the game hard to master, but you can pick-up and play immediately, and have a lot of fun.

Regardless of the recent losers being on the cover, this game is a winner! The first UFC game was a fun/complex fighting game and this game only makes the same formula better. The menus are smoother than the original and the Create-A-Fighter mode is also much improved. The combat has been tweaked and updated in ways that make it more accessible and fun to master. Definitely recommend for anyone that likes fighting games or seeing themselves get KO'd in a video game!

I've played all the UFC games on XB, even the ones made by THQ, this one is only slightly better than UFC 1 from EA. I actually liked the controls on UFC 1 better, it made it easier & more fun to play (for me). I think the only real improvement made on this game is that there are more positions, the game seems more fluid and realistic, and that there are more fighters. It is still worth the $20 though.

This game is by far better than the last one. The graphics are amazing and the game plat is much more fluid and realistic. The reason I give 4 stars is because it can be very difficult to play. The controls are very complex, in my opinion. I get taken to the mat and it's over because I'm horrible at the ground controls. If you can get the controls down, 5 stars all the way. Knockout mode was a great addition to the title.

This game is the 2nd entry into the UFC series. For the first time in create a player you can do so being female. The character models and graphics are phenomenal. Albeit the control feel more mechanical and less...fluid and organic and you don't feel one with your player. This is noticeable but regardless the game is a blast in multiplayer. If it drops on sale at/or below $29.99 id say dead on purchase.

It is a great game with nice mechanics. The ground game is still hard, but easier than the last game. The stand up game is a little inconsistent. Some times you punch and kick a person in the head 20 times straight and don't even wobble the person, but then they hit you once or twice and you get wobbled or knocked out. Ultimate team is a nice addition, but can get frustrating when people spam moves online.

I have participated in the martial arts for more than 20 years. This game is as close to the real mixed martial arts fighting without receiving the bruises and pain from MMA fighting. The action is fast, the graphics are fantastic, all the kicks, punches and grappling are realistic. The wide variety of fighters are numerous. If you like fight games then this is the one.

A lot of the professional reviews will tell you this game is average at best. What they dont tell you is how much fun the striking is now that your attacks have real impact on them. Flash knockdowns are great to see when you connect with the right punch or kick. Loving this game so far. Career mode still sucks BTW.

while i loved all the upgrades in this game the only thing iam critical of is not being able to change your attire i do understand they have a deal with reebok and when your the champion you do not walk out with your title. i mean you earned it so why not ? i also used to love the post fight interviews but hey its still a great game

Huge leap from the first one. The graphics are awesome and knockout mode is absolutely amazing, so much fun. Getting to fight as/against Mike Tyson is so good. The new ground/clinch controls are much better this time around as well, and the addition of Ultimate Team is really fun. Definitely the best MMA game EVER. Nice one EA!!!

You would really have to get into this game and learn all of the techniques (button combos) to get to start enjoying this game. I am old school Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter lover, and this is not that. They tried to make it as real as possible, where the game teaches you how to fight.

I'm not a all in "gamer." I play when I have time. Last night I finally loaded UFC 2 on my xbox. The game is no simple. It will take some time to get to know the controls. So far though I am enjoying the game play. As it is an older version of the game, the price was right.

I'm not sure that people who are strictly fans of fighting games will enjoy this as much as UFC fans. I enjoyed the fighting style and realness of the graphics. I'm a casual gamer so I wasn't looking for much but it's nice to have a game you can pop in and have a fight with your favorite UFC fighters from time to time

This is a good MMA game. If you buy this dont think you're buying a street fighter/mortal kombat/teken style fighting game. You have to learn the controls to be able to fight standing and on the ground. It takes time to learn the controls but once you do it's pretty fun.

I've waited a few months for the price of this one to hit $19.99, finally picked it up when it did. Just getting into it, but great graphics and gameplay. I great pick up at this price point for any UFC or MMA fan, whether hardcore or casual. Great fun playing against a buddy!

The game tries to make it an authentic UFC experience and it mostly succeeds. Still. everything feels too sluggish and the graphics are all over the place. Some character models look excellent while others look like their from a PS2 game. Overall it is worth it if you can find it on sale.
