    Average sound, stylish design

The goal with any speaker should be quality sound before anything else. I have another, smaller UE bluetooth speaker that delivers better all-around sound than the Blast. The Blast gets plenty loud but the sound is not very full. Very little bass and the higher end sounds are a bit tinny. The app seemed easy enough to setup...until it kept failing to complete the mandatory software update for my UE Blast out of the box. There was no skip option so in order to connect it to the wifi I had to muscle through the update. It took 3 tries. Even though it warned me not to turn off the device during the update, I had no choice. Nonetheless, eventually it updated and I was able to use Alexa. If you are a heavy "Alexa do this and that" person then the Blast is pretty cool even if the sound isn't great. I paired the Blast with my phone and my laptop. It continued to play music as long as I left my music player open on the laptop. I paused music and left the office for a while and the device shut off (likely when my computer went into standby mode). When I wanted to ask Alexa something I had to hit the on button and let it connect to wifi again. I had planned on keeping this unit in my kitchen. Having to tap the Blast to turn it on and wait for the wifi might get old fast. It is not as fast asking Google or Siri on your phone. And if you want to play music by speaking a command, for now you have to rely on the Amazon music system ("Alexa play some hiphop" will play music from Amazon while "Alexa play my mellow jazz Spotify mix" will do nothing--but you can launch Spotify and bluetooth the stream to the speaker). The design is very stylish. It is basically an oversized pop can. Imagine a 16oz beverage can and you pretty much have the Blast in size and weight. I like the stylish lines, oversized buttons, and fabric mesh wrap. HOWEVER...the device needs to be set upside down if you want to charge it and keep it vertical. The USB (micro, not C) cable is included in the box as well as a wall charger but because of the design, you cannot plug the cable into the bottom and stand the Blast upright unless you flip it upside down--essentially charging from the top. The hook is also on the bottom of the speaker. To recap, sound quality less than spectacular, average at best. Loud enough. Stylish design with some flaws. Alexa is cool. I had some app setup issues but that may be a one-time thing. Either way it was resolved after some restarts. This product is just "meh" for me.

I have used several bluetooth speakers, at best this is an OK design. My setup had problems from the start. Alexa initial setup went well and the Bluetooth setup went ok. Came back in a few minutes and the bluetooth had disconnected and Alexa would not respond to commands. There is a button on the top for power (short push) and reconnect to bluetooth (longer hold). Alexa would not reconnect from the app so I had to use the Alexa app to reconnect. I emailed tech support to see if they has any suggestions with the connectivity, no response from them after 3 days. I always listen to the same song when I buy new speakers and headphones. This was definitely more in the treble than bass side. Pros: Nice design love the water resistance so I can take this to the beach or pool. Great battery life. Has some Alexa functionality. light weight Cons: connectivity issues with bluetooth and Alexa. The power is at the bottom, so you cant just leave this on the counter unless you buy the extra charging dock Limited Alexa commands, so not an echo replacement. Alexa can fail to "wakeup" to commands. no email tech support after 3 days. The sound was more on the treble side. Older versions of ultimate ears allows multiple devices to be connected for music play. this does not. Some of the issues I had may have been helped with support from Ultimate Ears. But 3 days and no email response makes it hard to know if its a me issue or a device issue hardware/software. I guess I have to say, look somewhere else for a speaker. I gave this 2 stars. It has some decent features and seems like a great idea and maybe it will get better with time

The Ultimate Ears Blast bluetooth speaker has good sound quality and volume. Unfortunately I have been unable to use the speaker to the full potential because of the terrible App setup procedure, which I was never able to accomplish despite weeks of trying. The app would start setup by seeing the speaker, but then on the next step it would always say "speaker unavailable" and I couldn't do anything else. The speaker connects to my phone and PC just fine via bluetooth for sound purposes, but I am unable to use it for Alexa and other advanced features. Customer service has ignored my attempts to get some help.

I love the speakers and portability however, it does not perform the same as echos ex. to compete tasks like routines, does not respond to any other wake up word than Alexa, and had difficulty understanding our family's voices. It became frustrating to change the names of our other devices (to not Alexa) and even with these changes, the Ultimate Ears did not respond as consistently as the echo devices. We returned this item.

    Useless as a wi-fi speaker

The UE Blast disconnect from wifi constantly. Randomly shuts off when playing Amazon music. Alexa is extremely slow when she does respond...if you can get her to respond. On a positive note, this is pretty awesome for bluetooth streaming. It has a nice full sound that can fill a moderate sized room. If bluetooth is what your looking for this is it! If you are looking for a wireless speaker to connect to wi-fi...this is not what you need.

Purchased this one solely on associate recommendation, wanted a blu tooth device with quality sound for at least 7-8 hrs. in a loud atmosphere. Box says this device holds a 12/hr charge(only received 2.5-3 hrs at 70% volume ). Sound quality is formidable though. Design and Alexa capability are also a plus. But I needed sound duration for a 10 hour work day in a shop environment. I will recommend everything about this product minus the battery life.

I've purchased two of these speakers in the past and loved the speakers with the quality and features this brand provided. So I bought another, this smaller one for travel, but this new version doesn't cut. For one, the connection kept dropping and the biggest let down was that the new version doesn't offer the party up and the app was not as great as its previous version. So it when back!

Sound is great. Alexa integration not so much

This speaker sounds great but the big advantage to this is that you can use alexa to play your playlists or play online quiz games. You really can't do it because the majority of the time it doesn't work or just crashes. You would be better off with a nice speaker with bluetooth and an echo dot. Would work better than this.

Two different devices both had trouble maintaining a Bluetooth connection. It would last about 5 minutes and disconnect. Not sure if this particular unit was defective or not but I returned it. When it was connected the sound was great and able to get loud. Alexa was more of an afterthought and its integration was something to be desired.

I bought this speaker mainly because it has amazon Alexa built in but it wouldn’t connect to any WiFi networks and I tried anything online. I returned it and went with a cheaper alternative that sounds equally good without Alexa.

To start off this speaker has great sound quality. But it kept disconnecting and turning off mid song. It was so frustrating. It was fully charged and after 1 or 2 songs it would turn off and disconnect. Not cool

Really good sound quality and volume but it disconnects frequently and the battery life plummets after minimal use. The UE Roll is far better for cheaper.

Good sound but beware it cannot pair with other UE speakers. Go with the UE BOOM instead.
