    Simply awesome...

Background: I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I do collect all things headphone/earphones. Musical taste: Anything and everything with a slight emphasis on EDM. Review: What can I say, this is my first pair of UE's and I'm highly impressed. Like other brands I've purchased in the past, I usually start with the base model and work my way up. Needless to say, I can't wait to purchase more UE's. Build quality: pretty decent. The plastic cord is a tad thicker than other similarly priced earphones, but I can't imagine they're anywhere near tangleproof. Remedy? The hard plastic case included is quite small (some might even say pocket-sized) The monitors themselves are pretty sturdy with reinforcements where the cord meets the speaker. The L-jack seems sturdy enough, though I'd prefer something more substantial size-wise. Sound quality: Awesome. These earphones at 50 bucks a pop can't be beat. In fact, they're better than most earphones priced 100-150. Treble is crisp and distinguished. Vocals are defined and quite impressive texturally (though can lean a bit harsh for some). Mids are a bit lacking at times but never to the point of distraction from the overall sound stage. Bass? It's packing. If you're a basshead like myself, these are a must buy within this price range. For melodic-driven music, the bass behaves itself quite nicely and isn't overpowering. For bass-driven music (hip hop/edm- especially dub), it's... blissful. I've yet to find better. Overall impression? Simply awesome. For this price you can't go wrong. Sound quality is on par with others priced well above. The only complaint I can foretell is that the overall sound stage may be a bit harsh for some (ie, in-your-face) but that's just character (every earphone has it's own). If you want something more refined, drop another $30 and pick up some image S4's. If you want some excitement, I highly recommend these. Extra bits: The package contains 5 sizes of tips (compared to the usual 3-4). If you have large canals like myself, the larges are perfect (ie great seal, great isolation). Also, (geeking out a bit here) the packaging is quite impressive. Within the outer shell, the buds rest within a foam insert inside it's own black box. Another foam insert seamlessly hides the product info/warranty/UE propaganda. For $50, it's actually quite remarkable.

I'm a musician and a bit of an audiophile and sound is very important to me. The BB rep recommended these but I was hell bent on buying a well known brand like Shure, Sennheiser, Altec lansing, etc...all names I'm familiar with and equate to high quality audio. I tried them all. Tried Sony's...brought them all back. Just to 'go ahead and rule them out' I decided to try the Ultimate Ears. They were exactly what I was looking for. Clear, high quality audio with great frequency balance...great bottom-end but not too much. Perfect. Here's the kicker: One day while in my car I had an open cup of water in my console. When one of my friends got in the car I moved the headphones out of his way and just laid them up on the console. I didn't realize till the next day that BOTH of the earbuds were dangling and submerged in the water. I was upset because I knew they had to be ruined. I laid them in the backseat and went the next day to bestbuy to get some more. They didn't have the Ultimate Ears at this store but a kid salesman said - just get the cheap ones - they're really pretty much all the same. So I did - bought some for for about $10. As soon as I got outside in my car I opened them up and plugged them in my iphone. They sounded horrible - very mid-rangey, no lows and just a horrible over-all sound. I reached in the backseat, pulled out my UE's - which had dried out by then, and BAM - they were perfect. Sounded great - like they always did. I returned the cheap earbuds, and today - a year later - I'm still listening to the UE's. So, they are NOT all the same...and I would - without a doubt - buy more of the UE earbuds. Great product!

These are perfect for me, but others may feel differently because there is no inline controls or mic. Which i prefer. One thing they do have that is rediculously hard to find these days is a small rubber piece near the splitter that holds the headphone strings together. You just slide it all the way up and it keeps the headphones from getting tangled in your pocket or whatever and i love that feature. These are amazing headphones for only $50 they are way better than the $80 astro a*stars i had. The only way to make these better would be to include some of the comply foam tips because they are so much better than the silicone. But i had some extras which was great. GET THESE IF YOU DONT LIKE THE CONTROLS ON YOUR HEADPHONES! If you do like the controls they offer these headphones with them but not from bestbuy. I found them elsewhere with controls i think they are called UE 350vi. Hope that helps!

The bass on each song sounds amazing with these headphones. These headphones accurately reproduce every part of a song even better then more expensive pairs of headphones such as klipsch, after comparing the two side by side these blew klipsch out of the water. These are a dream for anyone wanting to hear what a song was made to sound like.

The headphones are great. The sound quality is great. the only thing that bothers me a little is that the headphones don't fit my Ipod jack tightly.
