GREAT STARTER SET FOR SOMEONE WHO'S NEVER HAD WALKIE TALKIES!!!

These two way radios are rugged and very functional.

I thought I did due diligence on researching a good product. got these ahead of Christmas, put in the batteries, and charged them up. pushed buttons, and they made noise and all the lights worked. boys opened them and were very excited. They ran around the house trying to talk and only got static. My daughter, son-in-law, and I tried to get them to work, changed batteries, and recharged them but nada. We were all disappointed and it was also not fun tinkering all day, but the boys especially were upset. I would have been better off with a cheap set from Walmart like a friend suggested. I returned them to Best Buy and they tried their best to get them to work but again, just static or nothing but lights. Geek squad even came over and took a shot, again zip. Hope no one gets stuck in the woods with this bad walkie talkie set, it's a bummer.

First off, you will need to get a FCC licence to use the GMRS frequencies. Which is well worth it! My background: I am a ham radio operator and also GMRS operator so I do know a bit about radios. I did some research online before purchasing these. I heard a lot of good reviews and some bad ones. The bad ones are from people that don't understand the meaning of the "32 mile concept" So please let me explain: These radios you will receive about a 3-5 mile effective range realistically. Plain and simple. The audio is crisp and clear and loud. Great audio! Now when they say "32 mile" range, that is the MAX range a peak performance and conditions. Example: A person on a high hill talking to someone below without ANY obstructions at all. As soon as you start adding in trees, buildings, vehicles, objects, etc... that range is drastically reduced. When people see the 32 mile range, they automatically assume it goes 32 miles. Sorry, they don't. But they do have good range overall compared to many gmrs radios! Even in city environments! The radio has a weather feature on it. Awesome feature to have! But the reception is not optimal. But it does work well outside! Has a weather alert on it, so when there's a weather alert you will know right away! There is a led light on it as well. I am impressed by the brightness of the light, coming from a radio! It even does SOS if needed. (Let's hope you will never need that) The privacy tones are great, I use the DCS tones. Even better privacy! Reminder: Even with tones, someone can still hear you if they are on the same tone. These are great for almost any situation. Hiking, going to the mall, events, or even around the yard or house. Like I mentioned above, the audio is great on these! You will not be disappointed. Overall: Great radio! Be sure you get your FCC GMRS license! Read the manual and understand what channels you can LEGALLY use on here, if you don't have the GMRS license. Audio is great! LED light is great. Range is great but keep in mind of what I said above!!! This is by far one of the best GMRS radios I have experienced. A well needed addition to your tools and comms. for your everyday adventures or leisures. Or even emergencies! I would HIGHLY recommend this to others!

Haven't used them at this time. When they go into operation will report back.

Bought this as a gift and was told it works well and it looks really cute, too!

The reception was okay, but the range was terrible. Not even 1/4 mile.

Worked ok but not at all with head phones, tried to use deer hunting

The range was very bad. I did not get my moneys worth.

it is great i used it for work it was amazing it seems to only do 12 miles though.

I bought 4 of these last week. Two of the 4 would not charge. The cradle charger wouldn't make a good connection with the contacts in the base of the radios. Tried to charge them with usb cords direct, not working
