We live in the suburbs, but the land behind our home is very hilly and heavily wooded with a creek running through it. My 13 year old son was wanting more independence and freedom to explore without me tagging along all the time or when I simply was too busy with other things to be able to go with him. We got these for him as a way to keep track of him and in case of trouble such as a slip/fall with an injury. They are better than having a cell phone as it is instant communciation. I saw some of the reviews on poor range and signal, but decided to try them anyway. I'm glad I did as these turned out to be awesome and have not had any trouble with them at all. I can be inside the house while he is out exploring all over the hilly terrain without losing any signal at all. The reception is awesome even when I am in the basement. It's a great bonus to be able call him home without yelling at the top of my lungs and having all my neighbors hear, but not him. Even when we go deep into the woods together and head opposite directions, we never loose any reception. We're going to buy another set, so he can explore with his buddies and I/we can still check in with each other periodically.

The radio is much bigger than other ones but quality is so nice, I didn't try for 50 miles but headphones are not useful

I bought four (two 2-packs) of these radios and I love them. Great features, sound clarity is good, range is good, and they are easy to program.

Radios works for our multiple businesses. When we need to contact employees on a constant basis, I could not have asked for a better product. Thank you thank you!

They communicate with each other and that is why I bought them. They work well.

I had to wait two weeks for these to come in since they were unavailable in store. Work perfect when I'm ice fishing with buddies on lake Erie.

awesome radios, great range, great quality, no complaints

The radios do not transmitt for more than a mile or 2, But i decided it would be perfect for my kids to play manhunt with or for me to keep in touch rather than them bring their phones when they go to the beach around the corner. These are more durable then a cell phone.

I like them and I use them at work and home great for keeping it touch with my coworkers!!!!

On dead level ground the transition between radios begins to experience static within a distance of only one half of a mile. These are nothing more than impressive looking walkie talkies for kids to play with around the block.

We have 3 pairs of this radio. The first pair is now 5 years old and still working like new. They have been left outside for months, dropped in a pond, run over by a tractor and still work. We replaced the original batteries at the third year. The second pair is now 3 years old and still working like new. They have had similar rough treatment and have not been taken care, but still work like new. The third pair is now 1 year old and still working like new. We started with other weather resistant radios that were supposed to be for outdoor rough use. However, we never made more than 14 months with them before they were non-functional. Needless to say, the others have been discarded and we now recommend this to all ranch, farm, construction as well as trail horse, mountain bike people.

We got these for use while hiking and kayaking. They are easy to use, the headset is perfect!. Love them!
