In this last month I’ve tried them all. First I tried the Escort Max 360c, which performed mediocre at best, that radar detector should not be past the 299 price mark. Then I tried the Redline 360c, let me tell you, a lot better than the Max 360c, but still, the reactivity to instant-on was extremely slow when compared to other radar detectors, the only thing going for it was good detection distance and that it comes with wi-fi, but if you don’t have wi-fi in your car, the “c” in 360c becomes useless. Very loud radar detector, falses everywhere and for some reason failed to save stationary signals even after passing them daily for a month, considering this radar detector is now selling for 799, is unjustifiable. That is a 499 detector (rl360c). Then I tried the Uniden R7 and was happy’ish with it, great range, arrows (if you care for them), and for 499, not a bad deal, it just felt old and outdated when it came to radar detectors. Lastly I tried the Radenso ds1 and this was the first radar detector I liked, it was the cheapest and the one with the best range, had gps lockouts and a great radar detector, however, there is a speed gun on my way to my work and it truly bothered me that it sometimes picked it up and others it didn’t. I still played with it, and it is in my opinion the second best option for the price of 399. Then I came across the Uniden R4, I am being 100% honest when I say “I’ve been actively looking for weaknesses” and cannot find a single one. Remember that signal the Radenso ds1 couldn’t pick up too well? This one has already locked it in its memory… the range in this tiny radar detector is noticeably better than the Radenso ds1. It truly was challenging to change my mind from Radenso to Uniden but this radar detector for only 50 dlls more is definitely a ds1 killer. Now the ds1 looks too plain and under-simplified in comparison. Do yourself a favor and get a Uniden R4. If you want arrows, look elsewhere, if you’re realistic and know that knowing the position of the leo does not matter, get this one. Great range, excellent gps lockouts, excellent compact size, does not miss a signal, extremely quiet (after you set it up to your settings), great tones, comes with a compact mount, and for the even if you don’t take the price into consideration is the best radar detector out in the market at the moment. If you want arrows, you might look at the Uniden R8, but consider the issues its been having as of its release, wait it out until those issues are resolved.

Too many false threats

I bought this raider thinking it was gonna be a good one it just happens to have too many false threats with the K band not really happy considering that most of the cops in my area use KA band if you a few times there was cops on the side of the road where they could have pulled me over but I have caught them in the blink of an eye this radar did not catch any of that and I was kind of dissatisfied with that I was really hoping that it would point out more cops in my area but unfortunately it did not do that also there is many false threads where the key band goes off even though I did filter the device and GPS did mark the location it still was given off false threats or alarms I should say.

This unit has nice features in addition to being a radar detector: Compass, time of day, speedometer, and changeable color schemes. I purchased it to replace my 12-year old escort. It is mounted on my windshield and rattles. This is my only negative about this unit.

I was between the R3 and R7 when purchasing a radar detector. I know Uniden was the goto brand after talking to a few fiends that had detectors in their own cars. When I went to the store there was an a few R3s, one R4, and two R8s so no R7s were in sight. I then decided to go with the R4 at the store seeing it was a slight upgrade from the R3 for a hundred more I believe when I bought it. Honestly it's great it does everything I suspected and after tuning it for my home state it works wonders now. This device doesn't have arrows and I personally don't need that in my opinion when you see a beep indicating anything of cops near the area tracking speeds then just slow down, but if you want arrows and got money to splurge thats your own choice. By far this has become a very useful integration into my car set up and I love it. The mute feature is also nice on the electric cig plugin to power it so I don't have to reach all the way to the actual device to mute false alerts for the lower frequency bands that are given off by other cars around me or speed detector signs. Just remember to be wary anytime it goes off because the three band settings are there for a reason they are used all by radars just some are way less prominent than others. Know the area you're using it in and what's commonly used. Just remember this won't just stop you from getting into run ins from being pulled or whatever, this is a tool to alert you so drive smart and safe no matter what. For set up I recommend going to external websites that have bonified setups for any of the uniden products. Do your research before buying anything close to this price point! Things I love about this:
1) Great range.
2) OLED display.
3) Ease of use.
4) Very inconspicuous.
5) Voice alerts for bands if you're not paying attention to the actual display.
6) Mute button on e-cig plugin.
7) Quiet ride for town and city driving.
Dislikes:
1) The sensitivity (Will go off for a number of things that also have radars like newer cars that have blind spot monitoring. Example: My current car is a Honda accord 2018 which does give off those types of bands.); *Note this can be adjusted though but you get used to muting which is a plus.
2) Price. It is expensive for a detector, so make sure its worth it for you.

I saw where somebody recommended this radar detector on Best Buy reviews so I thought it would be a good one to get. It does have a long range detection so that’s good. It has filters that you can turn on or off so I turned off the K-band since most cars have sensors in their bumpers. I don’t want to hear it every time I pass someone. Even though I’ve turned it off it still comes on every time I pass someone. I also mark GPS locations to where I don’t want to hear it go off every time I pass by and yet it still notifies me every single time I pass these points and it’s very annoying. I thought it had 360° coverage to notify me which direction the signal is coming from but it does not. I’ve been very busy lately and haven’t taken it back to the store to swap it out for something else. I’m not very happy with this unit and I wish I would’ve taken it back and I certainly would not buy this product again.

So far it’s been great, saved me more than once so it’s probably paid for itself already. I bought it on clearance for 269.00. For that price you can’t go wrong. Has so many features I had to look up settings etc on the internet which really helped.

Detects radar from fairly far away. Works fantastic on the freeway. In town, it works decently. If radar is pointing directly at this detector it will detect from a fairly far distance, mile or so. If it is behind or on the side it will still pop up before in sight, but it is a lot closer. If you can find this for $300, its a must have. I think $380 is overpriced. I bought mine for $325 and love it. Shop around for open box and used ones.

It's actually good although it's still picking up a lot of frequency, (from automatic doors, traffic lights, cell towers, etc.) eventually, you will learn which one is a true radar frequency. It's also expensive.

The best for the money, really one of the best, period. Having used the 360c Redline, Radenso DS1, and Uniden R8, this is the “just right” detector of all. Sweet spot for price, yet exceptional range. No arrows, but that is a small sacrifice. The R4 is sleek and modern compared to the beast of the R8 and R7, and a noticeable upgrade to the R3. I am continually amazed at the range and sensitivity. It is hard to find in stock, but well-worth the wait, I assure you.
