This game blew me away. The graphics are superb and there was more than enough gameplay to never feel like your just watching a movie cause let's be honest, that's boring. The characters are predictable and the storyline would make for a terrible movie adaptation, but inside a videogame this is absolutely amazing. You will care about the story and it's characters because you are participating in determining the kind of relationship each character will have with one another while also molding the character into how you feel they should react to certain situations. I have never seen a choice mechanic that truly raising the bar like in this game. And finding clues has never been so much fun to find because depending on the clues you discover, that will determine how much information the character will be able to relay back to his friends. An innovative mechanic. Don't pass up on this game. This is a classic in the making.

The concept behind this game and its execution was excellent. It has action, good dialogue, and great graphics. They still hold up well and the fact skilled, well known actors and developers built a solid story that brings this world to life. You could see this as a film because the actors are literally playing the roles. The fact you can control the destiny of each character is also fun. Awesome experience overall.

If you have ever played one of Guantic Dreams games, you will fall in love with this one. It plays very similarly to Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls. Every action you make in the game can have very serious consequences to what happens to the characters, so you have to think about what you do, or what you say. Something so simple as looking at someones phone, or picking up the wrong object can lead to some very serious outcomes, and sometimes you only have a split second to make these decisions.
The story is very cliche when it comes to its 'Teen Horror' stance, but it only helps sell the story and setting, and it pulled off very well by the voice actors. The game has something along the lines of 200 different endings, so it was clearly designed to be played more than one time, so it has a giant amount of replayability.
Highly recommended for people who like a good story, and one they can mold by how they play.

If you're looking for a good scare and having your choices affect the outcome of the rest of the story, Until Dawn is your game. Huddled up in a lodge with your friends, you take the role of multiple characters with their own personalities. With a killer on the loose and each character dying, thanks to your choices, it's up to you to help them all survive. The game isn't a third-person shooter and plays more heavily with narrative in-mind with the style of a film-like experience (such as Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Telltale Games' The Walking Dead/Game of Thrones/Tales From the Borderlands, and Life is Strange). It's worth it and a very surprise hit that released over the summer!

The game is absolutely worth experiencing. It has excellent graphics set in an amazingly realized environment. The voice acting and motion capture are well done and the story is on par with something like Scream. It's 8-10 hours on first play through.

The game is played in the spirit of Telltales' Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, except you don't get to choose dialogue, but more like reactions. The animation and graphics are pure next-gen on the level of PS4's other exclusive, The Order: 1886. But, unlike in that game, in this game you actually are required to interact and use the objects that you pick. Not just look at them then put them down. The sound is excellent. It's better to play it with headphones on. The game play works just fine for the type of game it is. However, I didn't like the "don't move" aspect of the game, where you are trying to keep the controller as still as possible and it's pulsating in your hand. Most of my characters died because of this one poor game function. Overall, loved the story. This game is going to be a classic "must play" in time to come.

The graphics are pretty nice (though I feel like one of the tricks to them running well is the player walk speed is slow). Sound is really well done, animations are great. The atmosphere is really good. If I hadn't played to the end, I would have rated this 3 or 4 stars- but this isn't my style. The game picks up around the halfway mark and maintains a really good pace all the way through. Some stuff was predictable- but other stuff was out of nowhere. If you like Visual Novels, Survival Horror, 80's slasher flicks and such- this has flavors of all of those mixed into one pot. It's a great overall package and worth the price of admission.

Fantastic story, great horror moments, must play for any PS4 owner even if you don't like horror games or games with QTE's. All your decisions actually matter in this game, unlike Telltale games. Definitely worth the $60 or $48 with GCU

This is what you'll be muttering to yourself pretty much the whole game. This game really is a lot of fun. As mentioned many times before, if you liked Heavy Rain and the Telltale Walking Dead series you'll love this game. The storyline actually is really engaging and you'll simply want to keep playing just to see how it all ends. The replay factor is really high with this game because there are so many different outcomes. I'm going through my second playthrough and I've come across a ton of cutscenes I did not see the first time around. My one negative comment is the voice-overs for the characters. The lip sync is completely off. For a game that looks as beautiful as this does you think they would have got that right. Other than that this game is really really awesome.

Teenage horror done right

This game had a rough development. I didn't think it would be any good since it started as a Playstation Move title that was retooled. All I can say is, they nailed the stereotypical teenage horror movie. Each character represents the different personalities. The game is very well written, and voice acting is great. Graphically it's extremely impressive. Just wandering around to see all the detail is fun.
Now, the game does play more like Heavy Rain. You walk around looking for different things that unravel the mystery. There are QTE events at certain points, but never overdone. The game is more about the decisions you make which change how things occur. Everything has an effect that can be humorous to terrible. The game can be replayed several times to see how things could have been different to possible save different characters.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror, and it's not for children really. The content is very adult at times.

I haven't finished the game yet and I'm still close to the beginning but it's off to a slow start. The graphics are amazing and the story is super cheesy but that's half the fun. It plays like an interactive movie with lots of choices to add to replay value. It's a fun something to do

This PS4 exclusive takes the Heavy Rain concept and brings it up to 100. A great interactive horror movie, where all your decisions affect future outcomes. I won't spoil anything about the story, but it is a lot of fun. Great celebrity voice acting and facial mo-cap.

This 'game' is really nice to look at. It is however in my opinion, not so much a game, as it is a story that you can control. There is little in the way of action, but a lot of interaction with the title. The butterfly effect is a really nice feature and I can see it increasing the replay value of the game, knowing that there are hundreds of different scenarios that can play out.
There are definitely some good 'make you jump' moments to it, when you have the lights down low, the surround sound rear biased and staring intently at the screen. That's always good for a jump and a laugh!
In summary, visually it looks great. Is it a game? I don't necessarily see it that way, more of using the controller to advance the story and making choices along the way. Not to say that that is a bad thing, but it's good knowing that going into the title, rather than expecting to be batting your way through the woods killing everything in sight!

I had already big expectations because of all the reviews I've seen and read. I'm glad I waited to pick this game. Although this game may not be worth the full $60, at $20, it's a tremendous steal. That is the only reason I gave it 5 stars. At full price, it still would be pretty good at around 3.5-4. It is basically a cinematic choose-your-outcome who-done-it type of game. The graphics are very well done with believable movement and facial expressions. I will not spoil the plot save to say that it definitely involves you and gives you tense moments. There are multiple endings, so there's some replay value there. Anyway, I would recommend not letting this pass, especially at the lower price that it is now.

Game is a lot of fun and a decent twist on the survival horror genre. Graphically its great and has wonderful atmosphere to boot. The only downside is its fairly short, can be beaten in a few days without much issue. You can replay it for alternate paths though!

Until Dawn is not only one of the best narrative driven video games currently on the market, it's probably one of the best exclusive games on the PS4 entirely.
Until Dawn completely hooks you in with its excellent world building and atmosphere. It's filled to the brim with tons of different horror tropes and cliches but subverts your expectations in the best ways imaginable. The performances from all the different voice actors are excellent and really sell you on the high school teen horror schlock.
Whether you play alone with all the lights out and headset firm on your head, or in the company of friends who want to make all sorts of terrible decisions, this game has something to offer for you.

Until Dawn is basically 'Cabin in the Woods: The Video Game', except your choices effect the story. The smallest decisions you make in this game lead to some of the craziest outcomes. If you like campy horror films (Evil Dead, Cabin in the Woods) then you'll enjoy Until Dawn. While it doesn't have as much action as your typical AAA game, it more than makes up for it with an engrossing, personalized story.
