Everyone in the family will enjoy this wonderful movie!

As a boy, Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) wanted to explore South America and find the forbidden Paradise Falls. About 64 years later he gets to begin his journey by lifting his house with thousands of balloons inadvertently taking a young stowaway with him, Boy Scout Russell. On their journey, they make many new friends including a talking dog, and figure out that someone has evil plans. Carl soon realizes that this evildoer is his childhood idol. The film is hilarious, heartfelt, moving and depressing all at once and while there is plenty for young children to enjoy and take from the film, it is the older audience that will get the biggest reaction from it. Don’t miss it.

Great movie! Love it being in Blu-ray. Better quality.

Pixar really made something special with this original and heartfelt release. Of course the animation is superb (as they have been consistent in). The Blu-ray quality looks great as well.

This movie is ducking amazing! At first it is really sad because this angry old dude just wants to live his life but the capitalistic corporate plutocracy of modern life makes it next to impossible for this man to be understood. He is framed for assault and flees the life he had using thousands of balloons. Yes Carl could have just taken the money and ran but we are talking about a man that stands on the moral high ground with gumption! He is generous enough to share his and his deceased wife's dream with a child. A child that is trying to get him killed by his hero every step of the way. Carl is a true hero and needs a statue in capital city!

I actually bought this movie for my mother who is in her sixties for her birthday. When I went to pick it up, the Best Buy worker assumed that it was for my daughter. That just goes to show that this movie is enjoyable by a very wide variety of age groups unlike so many animated movies that the kids enjoy but lose adults attention within the first 10 minutes. Not only that, it's also not a movie that is loaded with adult references that it naively assumes that children won't understand in an attempt to make it enjoyable for adults, too. A movie doesn't need to sexual innuendo to be enjoyable for adults.

This movie is several years old now but if you have not seen it you must. It starts out funny but then the next few minutes really pull at your heart strings. I found myself weeping the first time I watched it and if you don't at least get choked up when you watch it for the first time you must have ice water in your veins. The voice acting is excellent and the movie is a fun adventure with action packed final act. The 4K video presentation is outstanding as well as the Dolby Atmos audio. I highly recommend this movie for kids of any age!

The film changed my life! I was in animation school when the film originally was released, and I was doubting my choice to be in the animation program. I was doubting my ability to make films for all ages, as the animation industry was mostly making kids movies at the time, but UP made it clear that I could pursue my dream. The film moved me throughout and changed my expectations for animated filmmaking. Awesome Steelbook for an awesome movie! Dug is now my favorite Pixar character! I highly recommend!

Possibly Pixar's greatest masterpiece. The first 10-15 minutes are unequaled in animated cinema. Powerful, Emotional. The simple story of a couples life laid out with almost no dialog. Not a dry eye in the house. The rest of the story is just a fun and joyous romp of memorable characters. There are so mainly complex themes involving life and living and aging that you could write a careers worth of college papers on it. But at the end of the day it is just wonderful. The movie that gave 'Cone of Shame" to the pop culture lexicon.

I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this Disney story but I ended up liking it a lot. It's a touching story about a guy who marries his childhood sweetheart and when she dies he decides to go on a trip that they never got a chance to go on together. Straight up, house and all with the use of helium filled balloons. His house gets surrounded by condos and when the city wants to tear down his home to make room for more condos he takes the whole house and flies away. The house represents his beloved wife and the trip they never got a chance to take together. For an older couple watching this movie it'll bring a tear to your eye and maybe help to rethink what's really important about life. An excellent movie I highly recommend.

I'm in my 20s, now that you know I just want to say that this movie made me fall in love with Pixar films. I can't believe this movie made me feel emotions of fear, sadness, and happiness all in under 2 hours. What I love about this movie and all of other Pixar films is that even though the characters are animated, they're able to convey emotions from the character's facial expressions and tell a great story that we can all relate to as adults or a time when we were kids. This is a movie you must see and I want to thank Pixar for doing what they do best, and that is make timeless movies for people of all ages.

Wonderfully heart warming!! We have been looking forward to getting this movie for some time and it did not disappoint. Watching the characters grow in their own ways and realize what is truly important in life brings so much hope for the future. The ending is just what it should be. Won't spoil it for a first time viewer but Mr. Fredrickson and Russel make a great team!!! Highly recommend this movie!

I found this movie to be great for kids in that it deals with the loss of a loved one. The movie is about the old mans journey of dealing with that loss and for me, living life beyond it. Kids may not understand that part fully but I grew up on movies that dealt with subjects parents today think are "too much" for kids to deal with when for me its that the adult struggles to explain it or properly address it. Death is part of life, even for a child this is a fact.

If the opening of this movie doesn't at least bring a tear to your eyes, you have no heart at all. Such brilliance in telling a story with almost no dialog but you fully understand what the characters are going through. The 4K upgrade is very nice. Improved clarity to the image and HDR really makes the colors pop. The steel book has great art that matches the style of the new Pixar releases.

First off - Disney never puts their catalog titles on sale - especially 3D so $35 isn't a bad deal for 3D-2D-DVD-digital combo pack. (note for anyone who needs slipcovers, these new releases don't come with them) Pixar has never had great 3D home releases though. I only got this in 3D just to have a complete 3D Pixar collection. But what can be said about the movie - it's just a great touching (first 5 minutes will break your hear), funny, cute Pixar classic!

The beginning of the film is an unexpected tearjerker following the entire marriage -- from first sight to widowhood -- of adventurous-at-heart Carl and Ellie Fredricksen. But he bulk of the story, as the trailer promises, is Carl and Russell's amazing skyward journey to Paradise Falls. Above the gorgeous and colorful animated vistas, Pixar's astonishing achievement is the sweet, funny, lasting relationship that it's odd-couple heroes share.
