My wife and I saw this movie in the theater when it came out, and it is one of the most frightening movies we’ve ever seen! Jordan Peele is a master of suspense. Alfred Hitchcock would be proud! This multi-media package was the perfect addition to our library. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys scary movies!

    The Devil's in the Details

“Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.” And so goes the Bible verse Jeremiah 11:11 from the Old Testament which serves to add incredible weight to the context of Jordan Peele’s sophomore effort and follow-up to his Oscar-winning feature debut, Get Out. Specifically, this passage represents a key mind set for half of the characters in US, but given the countless interpretations each verse of the Bible inspires so does what this verse might mean to our cast of characters. Peele utilizes both a handful of horror movie tropes as well as some admittedly fantastic symbolism to reiterate the influence of this verse on his work time and time again throughout the film seemingly forcing the audience to determine just how much they might mean to take or receive from film, what these images and actions might mean, what they might be saying, what they're trying to say, or if they even intend to say anything at all. In the context of the Bible, this verse refers to God's punishment of the Jews after the fall of Babylon. God was punishing Jeremiah and his fellow Jews for worshiping false idols, but in US, the descending attackers who are also doppelgängers of the characters that make-up our main family seem to be mad at their counterparts for a handful of other reasons. Of course, there is no doubt the argument could be made that in some regard the family under attack in US are false versions of these invading doppelgängers thus the reason the red jumpsuit-laden clones are so intent on doing away with their counterparts, but it can't help but feel as if there should be more to Peele's second film than simply this tit for tat comparison between the verse he quotes and the story he is telling. Moreover, it doesn't just feel as if there should be, but it feels as if there is more at work here than just a metaphor for this kind of darkness that lurks inside us all; this ugliness we all have to come to terms with at some point in order to move on and either choose to better ourselves or succumb to our repressions. Of course, the seemingly numerous analogies and motifs littered throughout US could simply exist to suggest the inspiration of different ideas and considerations in individual viewers while the core of what Peele is doing is executing his love of horror on a much grander if not more stimulating scale.

Jordan Peele does it once again with his Sophomore movie Us. Like with Get Out, Peele goes for a psychological horror approach rather than straight up horror. Lupita Nyong'o does an amazing job playing two different characters, along with the other cast playing the opposite of themselves. As for the extra content, the behind the scenes on how Us came to be is very engaging. It's not going to answer all the questions you might have about the movie, but it's still worth the watch. There's also a segment of how Luptia Nyong'o became her character, Red. Overall, for a steelbook, this is for the hardcore fans of Us, as it really looks nice, both on the inside and out, and worth the extra 10 bucks. For others, the regular 4k or blu-ray is fine.

    A Hitchcockian Masterpiece

This film presents the dualities of our social construct in a way that is reminiscent of Ralph Ellison's 'Invisible Man'. Every time the privileged class enjoys a tasty meal of their choosing, the tethered are forced to consume raw animal flesh as the only possible choice. When the tethered attempt to speak, it is impossible for those above ground to understand them. In 'Invisible Man', the nameless black man tries to succeed in society. He wins a scholarship but is forced to compete in a battle royale for white spectator amusement. He tries to join a local resistance group but quickly learns that they are not really what they present themselves to be. Finally, he becomes so disillusioned he finds his peace living in the sewer system. 'Us' is a great way of exploring what would happen when the tethered people that exist underground decide the surface should be theirs instead of the chosen class that has rendered them invisible.

This movie will have your mind wondering about the what if’s I love this directors film making approach. Watching his movies is kind of like getting a homework assignment. Watch the movie and you will want to follow up on reviews and the synopsis. You will find out about some things you didn’t understand about the movie and you will realize some key things that you missed while watching the movie. Then you watch he movie again and it all falls in place. Now when others come over and watch the movie, you are the expert and you can tell them to pay attention to this and that. Overall this is a great film and is a great follow up film for the director after he gave us the movie “Get Out”.

From the moment I first saw the trailer back in December, I fell in love with Us. But people always say this, so thus, once I actually went and saw Us in theaters, I knew just how brilliant of a film this was. Not only do all the characters feel alive and genuine, they also feel like they matter. I felt myself deeply relating to Adelaide, the protagonist, throughout the film as she felt that real. Its different for everyone but this is a must get movie that may just become a classic someday. The ending is quite haunting and even now, merely just a few weeks after seeing the film again, I find myself randomly thinking about it.

Us (2019) is a great journey into doppelgänger horror. There are some great references to American society and the duality of who we are and how we behave. Filmed in Santa Cruz, this film lets us take a mini vacation to the seaside’s Beach Boardwalk and all the darkest implications of amusement, cotton candy, and gameplay underlying the surface of things. We are tethered to multiple realities of our human experience as we watch the screen in this masterful portrayal of multi-dimensional allegory. The extra features on the Blu-ray provide some illuminating and fun background into the making of the film.

A shocking story and a great Twilight Zone ending to boot. The tension builds up from the start of the movie and does not let go of you. The story reminded me of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a primal force for the dark side of ourselves is let loose and it becomes a survival of the fittest fight for life. Brilliantly directed and written by Jordan Peel the story moves quickly and thrillingly to its surprise ending. A grand SteelBook is subtile and artful. The disc plays with a sharp image and sound that emphasizes the dark of the movie. This surely is one disc everyone should have in their collection.

In his sophomoric follow-up to Get Out, Jordan Peele, once again, surprises with another darkly twisted psychological thriller in Us, a horror allegory with pressing social commentary and thought-provoking ideas that'll have viewers discussing long after the scares are over. Peele's nightmarish vision of modernity debuts on Ultra HD with a beautiful 4K Dolby Vision presentation that delivers an impressive upgrade over its Blu-ray counterpart. A highly-satisfying, near-reference Dolby Atmos soundtrack is accompanied by a disappointingly small but still worth watching collection of bonus features. All things considered, the overall UHD package is Highly Recommended for fans of smart genre flicks.

I’ll start off by saying this, I probably prefer Get Out a little more than Us, but that is not a slight on this movie. At the time of writing I couldn’t help but think Lupita was an early Oscar candidate (time will only tell as depending on when you read this I could be very right or wrong about this). Just know she is amazing in this movie and the atmosphere, tension and horror just make this such an enjoyable and thought provoking film. Jordan Peele is truly putting everyone on notice that he is here to stay as one of the key voices in modern filmmaking.

I loved this when I saw it on the feeder, and even more so watching at home. It's obvious by his previous show, that he is a fan of horror, which makes him great at doing films in the horror genres. Don't watch expecting anything, just enjoy it. Everybody seems to be expecting a masterpiece nowadays, and though I would consider this one, I think people over hype certain shows or movies, which in term causes negative reviews, which distracts from how good they really are.

You'll have to watch the extras to understand the "Summary" title. This got great reviews and it deserved them. At first I couldn't figure out where it was going but then it kicked in. I liked it better than GET OUT his previous film. I got it in 4K and it looked great. I did not look at the blu to see if there were strong differences. Universal is now doing what Sony does by forcing their 'extras' right after the movie plays. Not a bad idea but just something interesting.

I saw this before in 4K HDR on Google Play Store but seeing this in full uncompressed format on a 4K Dolby Vision supported player, I couldn't believe how gorgeous it looks, it looks almost fantastically wonderful. Now I've said the technical side, the story itself feels classic. Although the era of horror genre has been shifting to modern, this is a perfect horror movie. Along with "It" remake. This is a great film and you should buy it! :)

This is a neat little 4K Blu-ray SteelBook with a simple design. The 4K UHD disc contains the movie with top of the line video and audio quality. The standard Blu-ray contains the movie in HD, along with plenty of behind the scenes features, which I found to awesome since I enjoyed the movie. Universal Studios has been doing an excellent job putting together their latest 4K Blu-ray releases, making them worth buying. Highly recommended.

Us is a great film that not only had people talking upon release, but I truly feel will still be discussed years from now as people dig deeper and deeper. The best way to own this film is through this steelbook as the steelbook itself instantly became one of my favorites in my collection. It's simple and elegant: black with shiny gold. Us is a must-own film, and there is no better way to own it than with this steelbook.

First and foremost, the Steelbook itself is gorgeous. For any film collection buff it's a worthy addition. As for the film: In a sea of films attempting to capture the attention of younger audiences (Bye Bye Man, Slender Man and a couple of the low tier Blumhouse movies), Jordan Peele comes to entertain the audience of his generation. I would recommend giving it at least one viewing if you haven't already!

Too many times when a movie catches people off guard the way Get Out did, people like to compare and have unfair expectations for anything afterwards. These movies are very different, and that's good. Liked Get Out, watch Get Out. This is "Us" and its a great thriller. There is a few little questions that arise , but the whole thing is a fantasy. Get you some popcorn, and sit back and enjoy this great thriller

Jordan Peele comes off the success of Get Out with another instant horror classic, US. This result is a masterclass in horror, but not the blood-and-guts over-the-top type of horror. More psychological and disturbing. Peele brings out the most of the actors, making them appear as if they are not even acting. They ARE the character they portray. This is a must-watch for any thriller or horror fan.
