Great classical science fiction movie. V, the main character takes the personality of the man whose mask he wears, Guy Fawkes, with the same motive to free the people of England from their corrupt gov't. Hugo Weaving plays an amazing V and Natalie Portman plays a very complex Evey who gets pulled in and becomes a hero in her own right. Chilling how timely it feels now as the political atmosphere is similar, except for the fact that the political parties are the reverse of what is going on in America due to the political leanings of the original authors.

Makes you think.. with all of the "control" and monitoring in today's world, where are we headed?

Okay, the film itself is easily 5 stars. The steelbook is 5 stars. But the 4K transfer is only mediocre at best. For some reason, this film on DVD and Bluray (and now 4K), has always had some light leaking/banding issues in many scenes, like the dark room with the table of officials and Sutler on the giant screen or the fiery "V" in the introduction - everything bright has halos that don't blend into the darkness. I assumed with a high bitrate on the 4K disc, this banding wouldn't occur, but it does. This is improved a little bit with 4K, but it's still noticeable. I don't know if they'll ever fix this or not. It would be nice. But until then, this is still the way to go.

Very good dark futuristic action thriller that is more relevant today than ever

Very dramatic and well done. Keeps you watching for fear of missing something important.

Opening Scene: 400 years ago in the United Kingdom, a man is captured, captured, tried and publically hung. Fast-forward to today: America is broke and requesting both food and monetary assistance and the United Kingdom still prevails. The 1812 Overature plays on the first minute of November 5th and the “Old Bradly” Building is blown-up. This is a well-written film adaptation of a graphic novel comic story in the U.K. The graphic novel was immense and was significantly condensed to make a screen play of a political action thriller and idea film. The United Kingdom was once the foremost state society is now ruled by the state tyrant that is vengeful – the movie dares to ask the question of government that is not supportive of its society. It’s a warning of what happens when a government pushes its population to far. And it is also about one man’s tyrant is anothers freedom fighter. The story is well-told and acted and it holds your attention. NOTE: This especially dark, haunting and very corrupt – it is a film for selected audiences - it is not for the young or faint of heart.

I was amazed at this futuristic story. Good story, plots and twists. Enjoyed it alot.

I really liked V for Vendetta. Cool action sequences, great use of dialogue. The video transfer on blu ray looks great and the sound is exceptional, Warner didn't skimp. I was also surprised at how many references to the numerical V, and letter V I was able to spot. Hugo Weaving did a fantastic job of bringing V's character to life, in spite of the fact his face was hidden behind a mask for the entire movie. Vendetta deals with so many issues (race, sexuality, religion, totalitarianism, and terrorism) and manages to address, and hold them all together quite well without losing focus. Well-rounded release, especially for the price. That's why helped me give it 5 instead of 4 stars.

For what happens to him, he wants to fix what is wrong with the goverment.

Great quality for the price especially when it comes to a classic

Great classic movie. Must own for any movie college

The steelbook art and finish is catchy and better than alot of the other releases for this flick. The 4K is very good - the video isn't a major upgrade, but very solid, Dolby Atmos mix however isa major upgrade and will give anyone with a solid system quite the workout! There's a new interview with the flicks director and one of the Wachowski's that's worth a watch as well.

This is by far my favorite Natalie Portman film and Hugo Weaving movie. These two really make this film fantastic. The way these two characters work off of each other is just mesmerizing and captivating for the story. The camera work, the lack of cgi to make as pure a film as possible, and the locations of each scene drive a strong storyline and a fantastic ending.

With everything that is going on in the United States today, and even in some other countries... this movie is predictive programming, and an accurate depiction of where things WILL end up. The price of this DVD made this purchase even better. This movie is one of the most underrated movies ever made and one of the four best movies made by the Wachowski brothers.

Great 4K transfer of an iconic film. This movie based on the DC graphic novel still stands the test of time especially in our current political environment. It’s take is that we shouldn’t be afraid of our government, but in fact that the government should be afraid of us. All that combined with a tale of the mysterious V character makes for a very enjoyable story.

All time great comic adaptation movie in a terrific steelbook. This is one of my all time favorite movies and features fantastic performances by Natalie Portman and Hugo weaving as V. The directing, story and action are all very well executed and have held up well each time I watch the film. An outstanding movie that is definitely worth seeing and owning.

Beautiful case with a matte finish and great artwork! Way back I enjoyed the movie but after so many years the movie is even more powerful given the current state of the world in the age of politics and COVID. In 4K this movie pops plus great detail even in dark scenes, which is most of this movie! Great sound with the remaster adding Atmos!
