So the movie came in great condition, however, when I went to redeem the digital code for the movie I hit some problems. Even though the code was valid for the site given for redeeming, o couldn’t move forward to the next step of choosing a provider (like Vudu) because it was “not found”. After trying it on several devices and still getting the “something went wrong, please re-enter your code” message I contacted the Vudu support team (as Europa does not have one) and thankfully was able to get it sorted.

this is a really impressive looking 4K UHD viewing experience, one which takes the already impressive 1080p Blu- ray presentation and ups the ante in virtually every department we assess in our reviews. Right from the get go in the opening prehistoric sequence, there's noticeably better detailing in both the volcanic environment as well as the wash of ash raining down from the sky, both in terms of detail levels and the range of colors on display. The saturation on the Power Rangers suits is also noticeably richer, something that will continue once the modern day Rangers don their outfits.

The film is good; not outstanding but, definitely watchable. I like Luc's work generally, especially Lucy but, this is more of a flashback to his Fifth Element which I was never particularly impressed with other than again, the visuals. The acting is good and the characters are not cardboard cutouts. If you like science fiction, this is a pretty enjoyable exercise in that genre. Don't expect to have your mind blown particularly. I think more than anyone, teenagers who are into science fiction may be the most appreciative group of this film. It does have a semi sexual element to it, especially in the "Strip Club" scene; it's not obscene or graphic but, it does convey an edge of the adult nature of such places. I give it 4 stars out of five but, I haven't kept it in my cinephile's collection.

This was one of two 4K BluRays I bought to try out my new 4K TV, the other being Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. While I enjoyed the actual story/plot of Jumanji more, I have to say that the 4K of Valerian definitely showed off the features of my new TV better! The special effects here look GREAT in 4K, even when seated just a few feet in front of the TV. The sound on the 4K disc is comparable to the sound on the BluRay, at least for my fairly old receiver, but it still sounds great. Apart from the technical aspects of the 4K transfer, as a SciFi fan I enjoyed this movie and found it entertaining, but my wife was less impressed (not a sci fi fan). The plot and characters are not particularly deep or intimately crafted, but if you just take it at face value I think it's a fun ride. But it bears repeating that I definitely enjoy the 4K aspects of this release, and that may bias me somewhat. :)

From the imaginative mind of Luc Besson I was somewhat surprised that I enjoyed this film. The story line is hard to follow at times and only the main characters seem to feel out of phase with conveying actual emotions but there were other factors that totally made up for the flaws.
The visuals were absolutely spectacular. Not just because they were detailed so well but also because of the outlandish and creative design of other-worldly aspects in the movie. Aliens felt very .. well .. alien but also grounded within the vibrant universe that Luc Besson had shown. If anything the overall design, digital animation, and color vibrancy made me really appreciate and enjoy this film.
Also the Steel Book was nicely designed and the cover art was well done!
If it weren't for the Fifth Element and Leon the Professional I would say this is one of my favorites from Luc Besson.

If your a fan of great movies I honestly think this is one the best films I’ve ever seen. I first seen it at the movie theater and I knew from that moment I had to own this movie. This is one of the most entertaining movies ever and I thought it was visually stunning. The people who worked on everything you see visually I honestly think they outdid themselves and they did a really good job. I loved this movie in every way and I’m satisfied with everything I saw on this film. I recommend people to watch and to own this movie I think you will enjoy it for sure. It’s also one of the best movies to own on 4K Blue-Ray Disc you’ll be surprised and impressed when you see it in this format.

Incredible special FX are common place in a Luc Besson film, and this is no exception. But the story is something that has been done numerous times. Our headliners, Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne, play their parts adequately, but sorry, they're not believable. It's more like "Spy Kids Grown Up". And Dane sounds too much like a young Keanu Reeves. The cast is full of talented people, but Rhianna steals the show. Her performance is short lived, but she is amazing. Plenty of humor to keep you interested, but only the first time you watch it.

This is a great movie directed by the same person who did The Fifth Element! Movie and music was amazing! You get 2 disc and a digital copy to watch it anywhere on any device! You can’t beat that! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because for a steal case, I didn’t not like the art on the case. They could of done way better for the art inside and out of the case. The movie had plenty of eye catching and breathe taking moments and the art on the case is just boring. But other then that the movie is GREAT!! A must see!

Visual Feast and Interesting Plot, Romance Lacking

This film has elements of Fifth Element, Avatar and other important Sci Fi movies and has some interesting twists, both in the futuristic technology and the plot. The romantic side of the movie leaves something to be desired--officers generally cannot fraternize with enlisted people, and the male lead appears insincere in his avowals of love and commitment to the female lead. One is left feeling bad that she fell for his line. Secondary characters were very good overall. The movie is 2 1/4 hours long but is time enjoyably spent.

If you are a Si-Fi movie fan and like movies in HD, then this is a movie you need to have in your library. The story is fun and keeps you engaged but what really stands out is the HD quality of this movie. Especially when our 2 main characters go to the Universe Bazaar. Not to give anything away but this is when your HD will go into overdrive as it looks stunning! I enjoyed this movie enough that I added it to my collection but again it was the HD that made me go get it.

I wanted to see this movie in the theater but it went out quickly. I bought it with high hopes. The first time I watched it I was not sure but I gave it another chance and it was better once I watched the extras before I watched it the second time. The extras fill in some of the gaps. I do wish there was better chemistry between Valerian and his partner. She seemed like she would rather work alone than with him. Other 5an the chemistry the movie held my interest.

This is an excellent movie with a great story line. It has great cinematic affects and you can't stop watching until it is done. Its by a European director and it is definitely worth watching. The action is excellent and the scenes are beautiful. Getting the 4k with Blu Ray and Digital copy is definitely the way to go and now with Movies Anywhere it makes it easy to watch wherever you go. Best Buy also has the better price now that Amazon is in VA, they charge tax on everything as well. A great thing about purchasing at Best Buy is getting rewards points which you don't get elsewhere. It quickly adds up.

Let's be clear here: This movie isn't great. It's beautiful to look at and it's obviously got its action set pieces. But, the story is so-so. The acting is...well...it's acting.
But, I love this movie. I could watch it a great number of times (and probably will at some point). I don't know why. It's not really all that good, but I love it nonetheless.

I did not see Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets in the theater due to poor reviews. Being a fan of director Luc Besson’s other movies (The Fifth Element & Leon) I decided to pick up the 4K. The Video & Audio quality is pretty good. The movie is interesting but not on the same level as the directors other work.

While this film relies too much on special effects over plot (and reason), it's still a marvel to see on this 4K Blu-Ray disc. I have watched this many times and my eyes almost hurt from the plentiful effects of design and color. Loved this in the theater and am equally happy now that it's on video. Fun and imaginative!

Truth be told I bought this when I first got 4k TV and player and there were limited movies on the 4k format. Typical American dude - I like action adventure/Sci fi geek, and I take as much from the visual aesthetics and action sequences as I do plot - this movie favors the former. I just like to be entertained and I was. Referring to the 4k aspect, movie looked great, served well using it to work through post-calibration/ personal picture setting tweaks on my player/ TV/ set up.
