It may be the original movie, but this audio was trash. Definitely NOT the original audio tracks in English, or Japanese. Way to ruin an incredible classic.

I was happy to get the movie at this price. I know this movie well.
The original English cast was not used. Instead, a brand new cast.
New dialogue was even written.
Parts of the actual movie were even edited.
Note: Compare the scene when D just enters the catacombs - prime example.
Highly disappointing.

One of my First Anime

Finally upgraded my worn out old VHS copy of this anime classic with this new Bluray version. The picture in this hi-def Bluray transfer is absolutely gorgeous and therefore I highly recommend getting it and anyone who isn't familiar with the original version will love this! Also recommend this as a great gateway-anime for newbies, as "D" actually has a mostly linear and easy to follow story line.

I really liked this movie when I saw it on tv years ago. I am happy to finally have it on blu-ray. It looks clean, they did a good job transferring it to blu-ray. I like the music that plays in the background, I had forgotten just how much until I watched it again. It is old style animation, but the story is really good.

A Classic But Not The Streamline Version

The big take-away--and VHD is not the only classic anime from the '80s released by Streamline Pictures--is the English voice actors are not the originals. Probably a team based in Hong Kong. Yes, you can watch in the original Japanese, but it's like when they replaced the AIP English dub for the Hong Kong English dub for "Destroy All Monsters."

Good anime. Really old school animation but for me that was a plus. Interesting story as well.

Disappointing Re-release

This Re-release contains substituted voice actors and dialogue throughout the entire film. It's very disappointing for fans that just want to upgrade their DVD to BluRay collection like me. I suggest that you look for the ORIGINAL VERSION on DVD and pass on this one.
