VANISHING POINT is a legendary cult film starring Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, Dean Jagger, and a 1970 Dodge Charger. Tasked with getting the car from Colorado to San Francisco in less than a day, Newman's character heads off on a wild ride with car chases, beautiful women and even an appearance by Delaney and Bonnie and Friends.Filled with social commentary, this is a must for fans of counterculture films of the early 1970's!

    Beguiling 70s Cult Classic

"Vanishing Point" takes us away from the 60s and drives us full throttle into the 70s. It's a cult classic filled with a layer of existentialism and mysticism that really elevates the film beyond other run of the mill car films. Barry Newman is just right in the role of Kowalski who seems to find a certain level of freedom as he drives and drives further away from 'the man'. Kowalski becomes a man who just goes for it and even goes out on his own terms. "Vanishing Point" is truly a beguiling and artsy pleasure.

I'm not a big car fan, but since watching this movie I've always wanted a 1970 Dodge Challenger, white in color. :D

    Classic Car Chase Film

Vanishing Point is perhaps one of the best car chase films to ever grace the big screen. The premise was simple, Kowalski decides to deliver a white Dodge Challenger from Colorado to California under 15 Hours and thus ensues a lengthy car chase. There's not a lot of character development for the character of Kowalski. We see some flashbacks about his past and that's about it. The movie is more about the beauty of the west, they mythology of it and to me personally a love letter to an iconic car. If you love cars, and movies involving cars then it doesn't get better than this. The film ws even the basis of Audioslave's Show me how to live music video.

This is a mediocre movie that is a classic for any gear head. Even though the plot is weak and this movie did not have any standout actors in it, any car guy will look past that because of what this movie depicts: a high speed run from Denver to San Francisco in a 1970 Dodge Challenger. This movie was remade in 1997 with Viggo Mortensen as the lead character, but this original version is still the better movie. I purchased this to have this movie on BluRay, and the transfer to 1080 resolution was done well for this disc. It does not appear that the original movie was cleaned up much for this transfer, but the video and audio are of good quality.

An existential action film like they only made them way back when, "Vanishing Point" is nearly all movement. Towards what goal is not exactly clear. I love this film and it is a giant cult item for good reason. Well shot and directed, with some interesting actors doing different stuff, it makes you think while raising your adrenaline level.

One of the ultimate car movies with a little psychedelia thrown in for good measure. Hard drivin' cross country with the cops in hot pursuit, they don't make them like this anymore. In HD at an amazingly low price, can't beat that with a tire iron!

A Man (Barry Newman) Makes A Bet To Deliver A " Souped-Up" 1970 Dodge Challenger From Denver To San Fransisco In Less Than 15 Hours. Exciting Car Chase Sequences. Good Performance From Newman In Lead Role. VP Has Developed A Cult Following Since It's Release In 1971.

One of the best car chase films ever created. So good it created a near cult following about "sticking it to the man." Id almost have to say that this movie is the car enthusiasts version of Easy Rider. Highly recommend it.

Vanishing Point is a fantastic movie. The car is beauty and the filming is excellent as well. Follow Kowolski as he breaks free from the bonds of society that have oppressed him.

This movie has great energy throughout the entire movie. The car scenes are entertaining and the story line keeps you interested. You "get aboard" to hope that he makes it to his final destination. I liked it.

A guy has a car. He drives the car fast and encounters a bunch of weirdos and cops in the desert. This movie is not trying to do much, but it's great at what it sets out to put on screen. Fast cars. Real stunts. 70s weirdness.

This is probably the longest car chase in movie history...if you like car chases and action, this one is for you. This is an older flick so video and sound aren't at todays standards but enjoyable all the same...Enjoy !

My father told me about this movie when I was a kid, so we rented it on VHS, it was just as good as he explained, but now I own the Bluray HD version of this classic original. Picture is beyond excellent !
