No extra batteries available. I emailed the manufacturer. Returned and was charged $30 restocking fee. I’m guessing to make up for the Black Friday price. Do not buy this brand.

Worked long enough to get in air and then stared smoking.

SP7100S A very nice drone for the price. This drone flies really well. The battery, it needs to be power cycled, the first 2 times I used the drone I only got 2 bars out of 4, the third time charged I had 3 bars, now the 4th use and cycle I get all 4 bars!! . So it seems the more you cycle the battery the better it gets, that most likely means it’s an older type battery technology or some form of newer light weight battery. -You charge the battery and the remote. -Press and hold the power button on the drone to power it up -Press and hold the power button on the remote to power the remote up. -Pick the drone up and twist it 2 times according to the manual until you get a beep on the remote. -hold the drone upright and twist it 2 times according to the manual until you hear a beep on the remote. -hold both sticks to the bottom left until you hear a beep on the remote according to the manual -install your phone in the phone holder on the remote (have the app downloaded), go to your WiFi settings on your phone and choose the snaptain SP7100 WiFi network, open the app and wait for a GPS lock on the drone and the GPS led is flashing on remote. -move both sticks to lower outer edges until the drone starts -now take off and have fun (please read the manual for the rest) -it self hovers really well and is pretty easy to use overall. The camera on this drone works and looks really good !! There is no zoom on the camera BUT after you record and then play back you can zoom in and it’s quite good. Night time use, if their is light, the camera is pretty good, no light then no picture as there is no night LED’s. As expected Still shots are amazing during day light! The battery when finally fully charged lasts around 20 minutes, wish it was longer but for what this drone is and does is great! I have not taken it up beyond 250 feet or used lots of other features this drone has like follow me and way points. Highly recommend the drone!!

This is my first "real" drone - before this was just a micro-copter that literally flew once, wouldn't hover, and flew away out of the neighborhood the first time I ever got it into the air more than 20 seconds. Older versions of this drone, the SP7100 (without the S at the end) apparently had an issue with "toilet-bowling" where they would start going into a swirling motion which would progressively get worse - I have been unable to get this one to do that thankfully! It's very easy to fly - just be sure to read the manual, it will save you from heartbreak and disappointment when you lose the drone or fly it into something and break it because you didn't understand the controls :-) As with most rechargable batteries in cell phones and other electronics, you need to cycle the drone's battery a few times to get full life out of it. Expect the first few cycles to give you a lot less life than later charges. BTW - where can I get a spare battery for this? It would be nice if Best Buy would sell them! It takes upwards of 5 hours to get a full charge on the drone's battery - that's a long while for just over 20 minutes of flight time - having a 2nd battery to be able to swap while would be awesome! I've only flown during the daytime, but I can say this, the photos look great! I can't speak to how it would do at night, but it would make sense that light-sources would be required otherwise you're not going to get a picture since there's no lighting coming from the drone (with the exception of blinking LEDs for visibility) . One feature I wish it had - the ability to zoom while in video record mode, but for the price, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck when compared to the competition. Save your money, this is a great drone to learn on without having to spend a ton of cash - once you're up to speed you can look at more expensive options.

this product broke on me twice which cause me to return them as defective

The Vantop - Snaptain SP7100S Drone is impressive. Especially considering the cost. It's clear that the price for quality drones has come down quite a bit. The drone comes with everything you need in a nice case. For someone, like myself, who does not have much experience with drones, it does take some time and focus to understand the instructions and get the parts to charge and sync with each other. Actually, I had trouble getting it to work no matter what I did at first. Finally emailed support and got a helpful clarification on the sequence of pairing that I was missing. The tech - both software and mechanical - that goes into a product like this is very impressive for the uninitiated. However, once it's running and you begin to slowly experiment with its features, your confidence grows. As that happens, you find yourself beginning to imagine more and more scenarios where you'd love to experiment with it and see what you can see and film. I only gave it 4 rather than 5 stars because of the difficulty I had with the initial set up. That may be just me. Otherwise, this seems like a great package for the price.

Well built drone in nice kit with carrying case. Instructions fairly good and the iOS app is functional. Compared with my 3-4 year old $1000 plus drone, it is quite similar is controls but quite a bit more toy like. The drone drifts in mild winds (despite strong GPS) signal which causes video and stills to be a bit muddy. Also image quality is significantly below my older drone. Color is fairly good and controls function well. For the price the Snaptain SP7100 is fun and a bit more than a toy but if serious about photography or really needing stable flight in mild wind you would be happier spending more money. The set up is simple and the drone uses a standard micro SDXC flash card (10 or higher). Manual horizontal and vertical compass calibration is required but GPS signals are strong. The leds are bright and provide information to the user regarding set up and are easy to see from a distance. Battery life is good as is speed. The remote is solid but the phone holder can not stabilize my larger 14 pro.

I was really psyched about getting the Vantop - Snaptain SP7100S Drone with Remote Controller. I've been looking for something entry-level but competent for a long time and at a friendly enough price point that I would be confident in recommending it. A glance at the item description and price tag would lead one to believe that this drone fit the bill. Once I actually had it in hand, however, I have sadly come to the conclusion that it just plain misses the mark. I guess I'll begin with my out of box experience. I was quite shocked when I finally had the unit in my hands at how fragile it felt. I mean, I know it's intended to be budget-friendly so I wasn't expecting it to feel premium but jeez. The plastic it's made out of feels brittle and fragile. Not unlike some 3D printed plastic objects I've handled. Just overall cheap. I've played around with kids toy drones that felt more sturdy. The controller is also uncomfortable to hold and the control sticks and shoulder wheels grind against the plastic housing when you move them. I would not be surprised if they wore out and/or ceased to function fairly quickly. Also, it doesn't fit my iPhone 2 Pro Max which is a bummer. Battery life is OK, though I didn't get the advertised 25 minutes the manufacturer claims. At best I think I got about 17 or 18. My main gripe, however, is that I just don't trust this thing. Multiple times during flight it just seemed to have a mind of its own. There were instances when controls would seemingly have no effect for several seconds at a time and it was extremely unsettling. At first I thought there might be some sort of interference so I took it to the middle of a large open field away from most other possible signals that would interfere and I still experienced the issue. I am confident that it is calibrated correctly so I don't think it's a calibration issue. I certainly wasn't out of signal range either. The upshot of my whole experience is thus. While it's got a nicer camera and decent flight time for the price, I would say skip this and spend a little more to get yourself a DJI Mavic Mini. Sure, you'll only get a 1080P camera, but you won't have any of the other issues I mentioned. Using a drone is supposed to be fun. I did not have any using this one.

Don't waste your time. We're in the technology field, so its not for a lack of expertise that we wasted valuable time, multiple times, over the course of multiple days trying to make this drone work but couldn't succeed in that endeavor. According to the tiny instruction manual In order to make it work you must first sync the remote to the drone, no problem we did that, then you must sync the drone in its compass mode by manually spinning the drone first horizontally and then vertically, although we were able to get it to sync horizontally we were never able to get it to sync vertically. Found a customer service number online but that was just as useless. Also the shipping was less than to be desired. Also battery life SEEMED very short because although we fully charged both the drone and the remote control each day over the course of 4 days, each day our endeavors to make this drone work drained the battery for that day. The only thing positive we can say about this drone is that it comes with a fairly decent carrying case. Unfortunately we cannot comment on how it flies and or the performance of the cameras or its range etc. etc. etc..

Not good, toilet bowl bad and fast when you let off the sticks. This is not safe, so many others have had the same problems and the battery life is less than half of what is advertised on the box. My unit was also previously used.... didn't know i spent full price for an open box version....

I dont have a lot of experience with drones and in fact Ill admit it, I am not a drone expert and I would never claim to be one. This device is the perfect "entry" level drone and is easy to get started, to use and not much of a difficult set up to get it going. Drones in general should not be complicated and this particular drone is smaller than most and not the largest high end ones you will see in the stores. It is compact enough with enough power to take off and land with ease. You will need a smart phone to get this going and you will add an application on your phone to start the process and get this drone off the ground. This comes with a nice case and also a set of uncomplicated controls that allow you to power this thing up and better yet, it comes also with a camera so you are able to get this off the ground and to see your flight path. I am not sure what other reviewers were talking about, I was able to lift this off easily and land it seamlessly and didnt break any propellers or components. I would recommend this as a starting drone for anyone like me, that does not have the experience level.

Great product if you're able to get it to do more than go directly up and back down. I tried with different phones (iphone and Android) I was able to connect record and it would only go directly up and back down. Customer service was good a responding but needed a video of what the drone would do. I got great pictures and really wanted to see it go over the neighborhood and return back. My main fear would be that it would get stuck in the tree or on top of a house. I have kept trying to see if was something I was missing and still not much luck so far. When it did lift off the ground it was able to return back when I did press the "return to home" button. But that only means it would come directly down and a few times go up and preform as if it was losing the connection. The pictures and video in that time was great quality. I had more than one person try and still no luck unfortunately. I do believe I just happen to get one that was faulty. Minus that issue I would give it five stars if I could.

What a cool, compact drone. I've had a blast with it since opening the package. I first had issues syncing the drone to the remote but Vantop took care of it pretty quickly and got things corrected. Set up is quick and simple, install the app, sync the drone with the remote, mount your phone to the controller, power up the drone then the remote, run through a couple steps calibrating the drone and take flight. There is an option to disable the GPS function for indoor flight if you want to start off indoors like I did. Be sure to charge up the remote and drone first of course. Flight is pretty simple and the camera controls work great. I had zero issues with loosing control of the drone, although there is a return home button in case things get a little wild. Filming or taking pictures is a snap with the buttons on the remote near your fore fingers. Battery time seems decent, I was able to spend about 30 minutes in the air with plenty to go. The carrying case is sweet and convenient, I'm sure a spare battery could fit in there very easily. You won't be disappointed with this drone, be sure to pick up a memory card as well in order to store data off the phone.

I had read about the “toilet bowl” spiral issue but thought I’d try it while on sale for $200. First flight took a long time to connect but eventually did and worked well. Second flight had the toilet bowl while 30 feet in the air. By the Tim I had the elevation dropped it was circling uncontrolled with a 50 foot diameter. Not safe and returned it. Loved everything else while it worked, but can’t accept something flying out of control.

This drone has great quality and very valueable. East to set up and if you have budget, highly recommanded to others.

Easy to strip motors, no landing gear, no replacement parts. Cheaply made. Mine broke in first 10 minutes when it landed on grass, ruined one motor. Now it can't fly.

I thank its a good drone for a beginner . Also very easy to use .i would get a second battary.

Drone won’t connect to the app. Have tried troubleshooting it without success!
