Great movie based on the early 70's glam rock period. Jonathan Rhys Meyers who went on to star in "the Tudors" is perfect in his role here.

This movie is terrific for anyone who loves music, Ewan McGregor, or Oscar Wilde. It follows a Citizen Kane-like plot, except it isn't boring and you actually want to finish the whole thing. The film answers the question, what happened to Brian Slade? It tells the story about how one man changed the lives of many. Astonishing characters from his youth are introduced and help fill in the pieces of Slade's life. These are the most colorful and extraordinary people you'll meet. The costumes are beautiful, as well as the hair and make up. You really are drawn into the movie. The soundtrack is spectacular and helps set the stage. Expect songs from Brian Eno, Bryan Ferry, and Lou Reed. If you a Placebo fan, watch out for them because they make an appearance. So go watch this movie. Your eyes will thank you for it.

This movie plays like Citizen Kane with glam rock, trippy visuals, a terrific '60s, '70s, and '80s soundtrack, and free love. Stylistically, visually, and sonically, this film plays on a whole 'nother level. Also interesting to see relatively younger versions of Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale, and Jonathan Rhys Myers before they went on to bigger things. Definitely recommended for anyone with an interest in the glam rock period, though some of the film's content may not appeal to more casual movie-goers.
Picturewise, the Blu-ray is far from impressive, which is a shame considering the film's amazing visuals. It looks like Miramax/Lionsgate went back to their old master created for the DVD. To be honest, it doesn't even look HD. It's rather mushy and undetailed. The texture looks unnatural and clumpy, and the image is riddled with edge halos. The transfer isn't an outright travesty and is still watchable, but the movie deserves much more.
The film's amazing soundtrack fairs well with the Blu-ray's 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio track, and I have no complaints. Extras are sparse, but include a terrific commentary with the film's writer/director and producer, the film's theatrical trailer and bonus previews for other video releases.

This movie isn't for a lot of people. It creates a world of it's own. The movie as you can read in the description is about the Glam rock scene of the 70's. Ewan and JRM really step out for this movie. The acting alone between JRM, Ewan, Christian Bale, and Toni Collette is worth seeing this movie.
See this movie if you love the 70's, Glam Rock, great music (including tracks actually sung by the cast!!! TV Eye is to die for), and unbeatable acting!
Enjoy
