If I can't buy Sony, I buy Verbatim

These discs just look cool w/ the movie reel design. I strictly use DVD-R's anyway. Not that most players don't support multiple formats nowadays, but in my experience -R's have a bit more available space.

    Outstanding DVDs

I have made well over 300 DVDs and have only ever thrown one out because it didn't write. I have used these disks on my Windows based computers and my Apple as well as my stand alone DVD recorder (for transfers from VHS for example) and have never had a problem with them. I have bought other type of disks and typically throw out at least 3 per 50. I do a lot of slideshow movies for people and tell them I will only use these DVDs as the waste of time and money on the ones that don't work from other brands aren't worth it. The few extra pennies a DVD more than makes up for my time and wasted DVDs.

I have had no problems with these dvdr's although burning a movie is more of an overnight process than a on-the-go one due to the length of time it takes. Also having to change the video to a WMA format for playing on a standard dvd player.

I have made around 400 dvd copies using these disks and have not had one single problem either recording or with play back. It is the only DVD-R, plus or minus that I will use. The extra cost is worth it.

This review was for the Verbatim DVD-r 16x 25 pack that Best Buy has but it is not listed on the website. I have not used the digital movie dvds yet but I will most likely try since I am a fan of Verbatim now...

    WARNING

The reviews for the Verbatum DigitalMovie DVD-R discs have been glowing. But BEWARE! On the package it states (in very fine print), “Caution: Damage to hardware or media/data could occur if this disc is used with some 1X/2X DVD-R drives.” No damage seems to have been done to my Sony DVD/VCR recorder (model # RDR-VXD655). But of 25 discs, I was able to make just five recordings. After 23 to 24 seconds the recorder stopped recording and after about a minute the disc was ejected with the following notice on the TV screen: “Since the disc has invalid information, no more title list can be recorded.” If you try to finalize the disc to see what was recorded, you received a notice the disc could not be played or recorded. If you buy these discs, make sure you are burning them on a computer and not on a stand-along machine. Or at least not on a Sony RDR-VXD655. The Sony DVD-R discs have recorded perfectly with no errors or “coasters.”
