I returned iphone, because verizon did not activate it. Verizon saw that best buy blocked it, it was not thru. But Best Buy never help to you for activation or discuss with verizon if you bought prepaid phone.

People are having an issue activation these phones

There is no issue if you are buying this as a new phone/new prepaid plan. If you are buying this phone to REPLACE your existing prepaid phone you will run into issues if activation is not done correctly. This is basically a subsidized phone because of the price. Verizon/Bestbuy must make up the money on the phone by making sure you pay a minimum amount on your prepaid account. You cannot just buy the phone and add it to an existing account because it needs to be a new account (read the message that was attached to the iPhone box from Verizon) so they can recoup the money on the phone. In order to add this phone to an existing prepaid account Verizon/Bestbuy must activate the new phone with a new account. Take your phone number from your existing prepaid account and put it in reserve. Once your number is in reserve they will transfer that number to the new account on the new phone. You typically want to do this as close as possible to your monthly plan renewal date to avoid losing money on the current plan you already paid. Most consumers will not know this thus the 4 star. Most experienced Verizon/Bestbuy reps should know how to do this. If they don't then ask for someone that has the experience/knowledge.

I was trying to unlock the phone with the help of technical support team but they couldnt able to unlock it . The reason is phone is not activated because the best buy has lock on it . They should have activate it before shipping it but they didnt do that and because of that my friend has to rush the store before going on vacation.

Love the phone! Worth the wait to activate!

First I should say that I did switch to Verizon from another prepaid carrier when buying this phone. So I don't know about problems with already being a Verizon customer and switching phones. I do have to say that I love my phone but it took two hours for the customer service at the store to figure out how to sell me this phone. They don't sell this phone in silver, it's actually black and that is the first problem, because the serial # doesn't match the description. I waited over an hour at the store while they were on the phone with BB headquarters before I told them I had to do some other shopping and would come back. I came back an hour later and they had just barely figured out the problem. Apparently, headquarters said they are having problems activating this phone everywhere but have finally figured out the problem. I really wanted this iphone 5s and so I didn't mind too much about the 2 hours, I'm just glad they figured it out. You will most likely have to go to a Best Buy store to have it activated/problem fixed but once they activate it, it's a great phone. If you should happen to also have problems, tell the agent to call Best Buy headquarters and it's a quick fix. Anyways, I love my phone. Haven't been able to put it down since I got it. . Best Christmas present ever!!!

    Read if having activation issues!

I love everything about this phone, especially the price. There are only minor differences between this and the new SE, but those differences certainly aren't worth another $200. That being said, I did have issues activating it, where Verizon said it was locked and that Best Buy did not scan it properly. When you buy this phone make sure you ask the salesperson to do a quick search in their employee help blog BEFORE checking out. There is a three digit code they must enter Before the serial number in order to activate the phone. Why Verizon is requiring this and NO ONE has actually educated the Best Buy employees about it is beyond me, but until they fix it, I would make sure your salesperson can find the code and activate it at the store before leaving!

Not sure why people are having issues activating. I swapped out an existing samsung for this iphone 5s. Logged into my existing prepaid account online, chose change device, entered apple device id, it then asked me if I wanted to use a new sim card or the old one from my old samsung I used the old sim card and was up and running in minutes. Same account, same phone number, new apple 5s phone.

    It's locked, so basically worthless

I read the other reviews saying that the phone was locked, so I specifically asked the sales associate before buying this phone. She assured me that they sell a lot of these and she's never heard of that issue. So I bought it. Tried to activate, didn't work. Ran back to the store, and they said their system had just been updated and it wouldn't let them activate, but to call Verizon's customer service line and they could activate it for me, "no problem". So that's what I did, and they informed me that this phone is locked and there's nothing they can do. I'll be returning it tomorrow. What a huge inconvenience for a phone! Don't waste your time or money on this one.
