Does a nice job providing communication with & location of 10 yo. Best to charge it every night for full day's use the following day. The band breaking before hitting the 2 month mark is disappointing. Just superglued it together hoping that fix will hold. Pic shows where end superglued back to the band.

We had the gizmo pal 2 and the gizmo gadget. This is better than the other two, but not perfect. Pros - better than the older models in terms of the ability to switch the bands to a generic band, 4G vs 3G (i did some research and I think Verizon is going to stop supporting the older models in 2021), there are more options in the app with this device and the data is quicker to load with the new device (even in the same app), you can actually add this device to your account and you cannot add the older gizmo models (because they are 3g). Cons - texts can only be sent to adults via the app (if you don’t watch the app then you miss the texts), kids can only send pre-set texts and cannot input their own texts. With this said, they can send voice recordings instead of texts, I am not sure if this device is different than the older ones, but the older ones didn’t seem like the manufacturer could change the functionality with an update (like Apple does). It would be nice if they could do this. You can only load a very limited number of contacts (10 I think) it would be great if it could hold 20-25 contacts especially if friends also have the device. With all of this said, it is a kids phone watch. It is not an substitute for a real phone so it is not fair to compare it to a real phone. It is a lot less expensive and unlike an iPhone, I can strap it to my kids when they go out to ride their bikes and not have to worry about them dropping an iPhone or losing an iPhone. Finally, the original watch band is junk. I replaced it (ordered it online) right away before it had an opportunity to break. It seems like it will break easily and it was hard for my son to put on.

GizmoWatch is a great product. I'd recommend it to a friend. The watchband needs to be replaced as it's pretty flimsy but the good news is the band is a standard size and only costs about $5-10 to replace. That being said this watch is NOT waterproof. I bought the previous version of this product used and it completely died after being placed in a bag with a wet towel. This latest version survived a jump into a chlorinated pool but the speaker is pretty degraded now. You can still have a conversation but the clarity of the words are heavily degraded. My guess is the water gets stuck inside and effects vibration of the speaker diaphragm... I keep hoping it'll improve but I'm not holding my breath. So, buy at your own peril if your kid is a water baby like mine. Other than that it works great, allows you to keep track of and stay in contact with your kids very effectively with only a $5/mo fee increase through Verizon. Water proof wise it seems to be improving by generation but you still need to have your kids be careful with it. Texting feature is also really neat but texts have to go through the GozmoHub app which isn't quite as convenient as normal texts but does allow you to control who can and cannot send text messages to your child.

I bought this for my 6 year old son. It's perfect for our needs! No games on the phone (although, to be fair, it has a step counter and a jump counter)! It has GPS, allows phone calls to/from the people you put on the contact list (no telemarketers, or anyone else you don't want calling). It also allows texts, but they have to go thru the Gizmo app (only Mom and Dad are going to do this with him)--texts are selected on the watch from a bank of messages. Anyway, the Gizmo is really amazing and perfect for our purposes. My son has literally been calling me from his room when he wakes up, calls me from the basement, etc--he's so excited to have it and loves that he can call me from his friends house. I also love that I can call him and tell him it's time for him to come home too--instead of having neighbors relay the message to him. Definitely a winner!

Got this for my first time kindergarten for ease of mind. Battery last through the day but can't put on step counter cause it will drain battery so you win lose with that added stuff. Verizon service is a bit spotty like everyother service but it usually back to working within minutes. usually a text or call with bring it back. My kid is actually surprisingly very good with it so its holding up well. But I don't think its going to last forever so get insurance.

I love the functionality of this watch and so does my daughter. If let’s us communicate with her, and know where she is without giving her a phone. The watch band isn’t the best, but it was easy to find a better replacement on the internet. The biggest issue is that the glass watch face sits above the bevel. That leaves the glass in a vulnerable place. We found that out when our daughter, being a kid, broke the face on the second day. Nobody replaces the glass. So, the watch has to be replaced if the glass breaks. Make sure you get a replacement plan if you get this watch. I’d recommend this watch, with that in mind.

The GizmoWatch has great parental features and features that our daughter loves. We always know where she is and can control who she talks or texts to. It's kid friendly, but also gives parents peace of mind.

Pros: Great way to stay in contact with my grandchild and cool design that he likes wearing. Kid-friendly operation. Cons: As others have mentioned, it's ridiculous that you have to buy a new watch to get another charger for it. And the design puts the watch face in a vulnerable position to break. So while a nice product, probably not totally ready for prime time. Wish the recommendation button had a "with reservations" or neutral opinion options. So yeah, recommended as long as people are well aware of the limitations.

Let’s me start off by saying got this for my 10 year old son who plays outside and I wanted to know where’s he’s at all times but not ready for a phone... so the concept would be great, If Verizon would fix the reception problems meaning calls worked and not so many drop calls, the gps awesome and texting feature awesome. No wondering if they are on internet or who’s calling cus you control all that.

I got this for my daughter right before my kids went on their first trip without me. She is 7 years old and we do not want her to have a phone with all the accesses and we do not think she could keep track of one throughout her every day life. She called me 25 times the first day just because of the novelty but I loved her checking in on their trip. Plus the GPS and location alert were a great comfort when she is traveling. It was great that she could contact me whenever she wanted without having to ask someone for their phone. I used it today to let her know traffic made me 5 minutes late getting her from school. She has some anxiety so this has helped a lot with her knowing she can contact me and get answers/comfort as necessary. She has also shown great responsibility in her care for it. It has been great for our personal situation.

This is proving to be a great way to connect with my kids. They are too young for phones, but this gives them the ability to feel in control of communication while letting parents monitor and control what is going on. I did change the bands on the watches though. This was great for being able to personalize them for my boys.

My daughter is 9 and has anxiety issues. I love that this keeps us in touch without her having full range of an iPhone. I have no problem receiving calls and texts or hearing her. Best Buy was excellent with setting up the watch. I highly recommend this for younger kids if you want to stay in touch. The tracking device is great too!

I got the watch to keep in contact with my son. It works great! He can call me and I can track him.

Bought for 7 year old and let me tell you, he thinks he’s the man now. It allows him to call or text up to 10 people (texting is done thru app so all parties would need to have in order to text). He loves to record voice text. It’s very easy to use and is practical for younger kids. Pretty amazing at a $5/month with Verizon. I can track his location as well AND even set a location to alert me if he leaves the location set.

This is definitely a good phone for kids! GPS and sound quality is good as long as they hold it close to their mouth. The band for my daughter was a little tight but I took it off and exchanged it for a bigger size that I bought at best buy which was for a Samsung watch. Overall I recommend. My kids have been using them for a long time this was just a replacement/upgrade for her.

Purchased this watch to track my son's location using the GPS function. The battery lasts about 2 days with light usage. The GPS tracking is accurate. The sound quality during phone call is fine. I wish the watch can be a bit thinner and lighter.

My son really loves his Gizmowatch, since he is only 7 and I didn't really want to buy him a real phone the watch was a perfect alternative to that issue. With the build in GPS I can always see where he is while in school, he can call and text me through the special app only with the limit 5 contact's I can add. He feels comfortable with it and it will teach him responsibility for a real phone in the future years to come...

Just got this, set it up last night and we couldn’t be happier! I read all of the reviews and I’m sure it’s not perfect, by any means but it’s perfect for us! I can communicate with my child and track their whereabouts. You can silence it during school hours but still text or call in case of emergency and you know exactly who’s calling your child because it’s all through the app on the parents phone. No worrying about internet use or random strangers calling your kid. So very happy!
