i have had this phone for about 6 months i love it the navigation wheel is great once you get use it, it will be hard to go back to the normal up down left right the other review about connecting to the internet can be fixed by changing your settings you can change the up down left right buttons to almost anything you want. the only thing that bugs me is the touch sensitive buttons are extremely sensitive even on low setting so if say while you were talking and you wanted to look up something your cheek would rub up against the button and would be on a screen you do not want it but it is no big deal just a little annoying

This phone has some good features, my favorite being that it has a micro SD card slot, so you can store quite a few songs or whatever for it depending on how big the memory is on the card you get, or how many cards you have. The display is fairly nice, although trying to see it in bright sunlight can be nearly impossible, but that goes for most phones. The thing that drives me absolutely crazy about this phone is how easy it is to accidentally connect to the internet, which costs a fortune. See the circle on the front? It is part of the control pad. That is touch sensitive, and as soon as you slide the phone open, it is enabled. If you so much as barely swipe your finger across the top of that circle, the phone starts connecting to the internet. Very very frustrating and a really idiotic design!

Great phone, great features, sleek looks, what else could you ask for? I have had my vx-8550 but only a day and have already figured out that the navigation wheel is fully programmable through the menus( IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SET TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE INTERNET). You can set each direction to go to different things (calander, music, pics, ect.). if you would happen to purchase this phone it pays off to read the manual as it has lots of cool little features to discover
