The best battery life, period

This is by far the best performing phone when it comes to the battery life. 2 days with regular-moderate use easy And when it comes to user experience, it's very smooth and snappy device. No problems on day to day use. Useful Moto features , makes this phone complete package.
Since you can buy 2 to 3 of these for a price of a :flagship" phone like Galaxy or iPhone, the area you will have to sacrifice on is the camera quality. With perfect light or outdoor daylight it's perfectly fine, but it will disappoint you in all other circumstances. It's not criminally bad, but just falls short.
What makes this phone unique is the ability to connect to different Mods on it's back. I always carry a JBL speaker with a stand and extra battery pack (you can opt for 2200 mAh or even 3000 mAh) in case i need to snap it when we are out for a long time and taking a lot of photos and videos. Of course if the phone was fully charged in AM, there is no need for it, :) They even have a projector (woks great) for as a mod.
All in all, this phone is a keeper. Benefit of this battery life is long term - as all Li-Po batteries lose capacity over time, having to go through 30-50 less of the charging cycles, it will take this phone easy into a 2nd year if not 3rd.
The best value in this range for sure.
Photo enthusiast should look elsewhere :)

What I like in fragmented form: It's extremely fast & I love the shatterproof screen. I dropped it screen down on jagged bricks hard enough to knock off the magnetic back cover & not even a scratch on the screen. Miracle! The large screen is great for viewing. I love the 15 minute recharge & the type C charger. The battery lasts much longer than my Samsung Galaxy 4 but not the 24 hrs as advertised. That must be if you don't use it. I'm looking forward to using some of the attachments. With Android 7 it seems that all the apps work better. I'm understood better by the personal assistant. I like the finger scanner lock backed with the option of another method . It seems that the security is better than normal. Happily this phone has enough memory, space, & speed to run Microsoft apps.
What I'm on the fence about:
There weren't many apps & I had to search for & replace the standard music player, photo, calculator, & calendar apps. They were horrible. Very, very basic. I was surprised that the other apps we're mainly Google or Verizon. All of my other phones were generous with the apps & covered almost everything I needed. Moto needs to step up. I've found nothing to run the files I created with the Samsung apps. This is a big problem that I wish I'd considered. The large screen is tough on my hands & wrists. You'll have to retrain your muscle memory for typing bc it's spaced farther apart. The camera needs a manual. I was thrilled to buy the best Droid camera but furious when it wouldn't focus during my son's PhD graduation. (I almost returned the phone bc of this.)
Overall I think mechanically I have a good phone. I realize I'll have to get used to a new brand & hope it doesn't take too long. It's past when I can return it so I'd better get used to it lol.

After Motorola stopped making cellphones with removable batteries I decided to give LG a try and bought the V10. The batteries although removable had a very short life and I had to constantly carry several extra batteries to make it through the day. The short battery life wasn't as bad as the phones life though. The phone died on me after less than a year.
When I was looking at phones I again was looking for a phone with a removable battery because ever since the original Droid was released it's all I've known. I wasn't excited about buying another LG and I found out that Samsung had also stopped making phones with removable batteries so I decided to go back to the company that I trusted for years and look at the new Motorola Droid. I liked the feel and function of the one in the store and when I found out that I could purchase an extra battery attachment that was made for the phone by Motorola I was sold.
I'm extremely glad that I made the decision to purchase this phone. The battery on this phone lasts so long that I have only used the extra battery attachment a handful of times which is pretty amazing because I use my phone a lot. Also, the charge time with the factory charger is incredible.
If you are looking for a new phone I would strongly recommend that you give Motorola a try.

I read lots of reviews before I bought this. I have always had Droids, so I really wanted to stick with them. This phone is great. More memory, faster speed. It is bigger than my Razr and doesn't fit in women's pockets very well, hence the 4 stars. I'm still getting used to the notifications. Takes great photos. I don't have a need for the mods.

the screen may not be the highest resolution but you won't worry about that much when everyone else has to stop and charge. I can easily go two days without plugging it in to charge, and when i do need to it takes less then an hour to get back to 100%. Even with a less powerful processor i have not noticed any lag ever. Great phone.

We needed new phones and tried the Moto Z Play instead of getting another Samsung. This phone has a very good camera and battery life.
Downsides to this phone are: lack of accessories and phone size. You cannot get a case to protect the phone in stores and there aren't many options online. It is also bigger than I would like.
Overall I am satisfied with this replacement phone.

I've only had the phone for a few weeks but so far it's been smooth. It offers many things high end phones have at a lower cost. Lowest battery consumption I've ever seen. It is a bit heavy and kinda bulky but not uncomfortable on the hands. Overall happy with my phone, Motorola has always been a trusted brand.

I have been a faithful user of Samsung phones for years. I was one of the first to buy the Samsung Note 3 that was shipped to my Verizon store years ago. But it finally wore out. I went to Best Buy with a limited budget, and for about half the price of the new Samsung, I was shown the Moto Z Play.
This is a great smart phone. It is very well built, feels good in your hand. It is an pure android smartphone. It does everything my Samsung did, but doesn't have the proprietary embellishments that the Samsung had on some of its android applications. One application I am still looking for is a voice recorder that works as good as the Samsung voice recorder. But in spite of that, I still give this smart phone an overwhelming 5 stars. However, rumor has it that Lenovo is ready to release new versions of the Moto phones. Hmmmmm.

This phone great battery life. I can go almost 3 days without recharging. That's normal talking and texting and then internet. So far I am happy with the Moto Z Play. I had a droid mini for years before and was happy with that one also. The Moto Z has a larger screen, so I do like that. Its a nice phone.

I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands and consequently I drop my cell phone more than most other people. I went through four last year! All of them were name brand and one after another they all failed to survive the accidental abuse which I put them through! The Moto, even though it might appear to be fragile and small, keeps on surprising me with it's strength and stability. But wait, there's so much more to it than brute strength! I love it. From it's reception factor, to it's amazing screen and speaker abilities, I know that this cellphone is my go to from here until forever. I don't do reviews and this isn't, IMHO, another how it works and so on and so on consumer report. Get one for yourself and you'll soon see what Moto can do for you! Built like a tank, lean and sexy, and smart to boot! Ya!!!!!!!

I love this phone, all the more so because I caught a sale at Best Buy and got it for a great price. The battery life is fantastic, Motorola's take on Android is nearly stock, and the screen is terrific. The camera is average to good, but at this price it's not an issue for me. All for hundreds of $$$ less than an iPhone. Check it out, you won't be sorry...

I wanted an Android phone with high-end features without the high end cost, and think I've found exactly what I was after with this device. I was able to get a great DPP payment option and keep my existing Verizon plan. The phone is fast and capable while having a long battery life...

I found this phone very easy to use since I am not tech savvy..I was able to find everything very fast without too much of a hassle.Glad I can use the microphone instead of texting because that takes me too long. The camera takes very good pictures.
